THIS FORTNIGHT'S THEME

This week, we are diving into the past! Last winner @Slender_Man set this theme, let's hear what he has to say :

In the last few years teams have been running classic throwback liveries of past like Porsche with the Coca Cola, Rothmans, Pink Pig etc 911 RSR's and all the Throwback cars in the Weather Tech series. I believe there is much more to offer from some of the classic liveries out there...

So i would like to see your best Modern Throwbacks you can offer. You can even crossover race series like putting a DTM livery on a Le Mans car, Nascar on a GT3 Car etc...

CARS :
- ALL cars Must be 2010 to current.
- Gr.1 to Gr.4
- Gr.B
- SF19 Super Formula's / Zonda R / McLaren P1 GTR
- No VGT's (Including Group versions).
- Racing Karts and X2014/X2019 cars are not permitted.

LIVERIES :
- Original Designs Only (ie not already a revisited livery, but obviously you have to be inspired by an old livery).

UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS :
- Modern day number panels must be used. (I.e. IMSA, Blancpain, Le Mans etc)
- The car does not need to be sport mode compatible.

BONUS PICTURE SETTINGS :
- 2 Bonus Pictures Required.
- 1 of car moving in Wet track conditions.
- 1 of car static in a garage setting.

USER MADE DECALS :
- No restrictions.

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

ENTRY SUBMISSION

- The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here
- Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
- Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following:
Code:
[COLOR=red][B]FINAL ENTRY[/B][/COLOR]
- One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
- You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
- Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
- Absolutely no entries which utilize edited/hacked file saves.

- Winner gets to choose the following Fortnight's theme.
- Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
- The Host may ask for the original image/livery and it must be submitted if so.
- It's recommended to share the original livery online (in-game) to prove it’s your work.
- Winner, second and third places will have to share the links of the liveries for the Hall of Fame thread

ENTRY PRESENTATION

- All images shall have preview images which may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction (main and bonus pictures)
- You have to post two main pictures of your entry using the mandatory locations and settings as shown below
- You are allowed to post two bonus pictures in a spoiler with free location and settings (unless the unique restrictions of the week’s theme specify something else)
- You have to make one post with ONLY the 4 pictures and the FINAL ENTRY mark. If you want to add precisions/background story/links, you are allowed to double-post under your entry. The best way to do it will be to "reply" to your own post.

- It is recommended you host your image either here on GTPlanet (via the Media section), or on Flickr
- Not sure how to submit your image? Here's a guide for both methods mentioned above.
- A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
- Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it; it makes poll creation much easier!
- No heavy post-game editing, slight enhancing is allowed.

MANDATORY PICTURES

- You have to post a front quarter view and a rear quarter view of your car.
- You can choose between the Shiretoko 03 location or the White Sands 01/09 locations. No other location will be allowed for the main pics.

If it's your first entry or if you struggle with the picture settings, have a look at the tutorials below :

DEADLINE

November 13, 2019 (23:59, CEST/GMT+1)

If the old livery that is inspiring the new one didn’t have a number plate, does the new one need to have it? Example the Superflo car featured in “Days of Thunder”.

Yes it will need a number panel 👍

@Slender_Man, making pictures in wet race conditions is hard to grasp on the image. I used for a previous theme the wet conditions to make a picture but you didn't see the rain or spray. You see the wipers are up but no rain.....

@Slender_Man, so a gulf livery like this would fit the theme? Because it's has a close link to the original design, so is this original enough?

Wet pictures could also look like this ;)

As for the Gulf livery, as long as you fit it to a series standard, to me it’s in the theme.

@Slender_Man too
I've got some wild ideas, but just so I'm on the right track, this previous entry would be valid (if I hadn't already entered it for a LEC) if I had a modern DTM number board??

It's a 2001 Audi DTM replica but with a new main sponsor

Love the theme and can't wait to see what people come up with. Also I'm expecting to see lots of Porsches this fortnight, obvious choice for the theme.

Also F.A.O @Slender_Man.

Although we don't need to make it sport mode compatible, are the in-game number stickers fair game too? Or are you looking for only IRL Plates from Official "Physical" race series'?

I don't have a problem either way, just seeking clarification .

Yes that gulf livery would be fine 👍

Depends on how close of a replica it is...

In game number panels are game too

@Slender_Man : one more question I didn’t ask in the preparation of the theme.

Since a lot of old liveries feature tobacco brands and since they are now forbidden, do we need to adjust to the current regulations or can we use the names?

You could use a bar code instead like they did when they weren't allowed to run tobacco sponsorship in certain countries.

FINAL ENTRY

At first I did not really know what to do, but has I already did an F1 Ferrari style livery I thought to do it again so I present to you the Weather Tech Ferrari with Niki Lauda Inspired look from the 1977 Ferrari 312 with some elements from that livery and some bits from the current Ferrari F1 car.

Introducing, depending on when you first saw this one, the Lister Racing Jaguar F-Type GTE-AM #32.

The premise here is pretty simple, Lister is decently well-known for making their tunes of Jaguar's road vehicles. But they also made their own road car using Jaguar-sourced engines called the Storm. This car was basically a cheese wedge on wheels and it sure looked even more so when it came to the yellow racing version.

WM_Snetterton-1999-05-31-032.jpg

So, with Jaguar (fictitiously) creating an F-Type that's prepped for international GT racing in 2019, Lister Automotive decided it would be a jolly time to acquire a year-old chassis from Jaguar and compete in the GTE class' Amateur division in the 2020 World Endurance Championships.

The Motec decals on the car are authentic to the #32 chassis that raced at the British GT Snetterton round and placed 1st in the GT2 class, however most of the other decals are unique to the throwback livery.

Of course, you probably know the car better from it's appearances in the Gran Turismo series from 2 onwards until 6. Who knows when it might return? I hope it does soon.
