Yeah I guess so, it would be like a kicker jump and destroy the splitter.
What's wrong with Laguna though?

Going forward you have a straightway that is stopped by a chicane and a little hill before you get to the Corkscrew. It slows the cars down enough that you generally don't have to worry about it.

Going in reverse, though, would basically make you go through a fast sweeping right turn into a steep uphill section that would suddenly stop and go sharp right. It would destroy suspensions, snap splitters and would be a terrifying ride if someone ever missed their braking points or locked up their tires.

This is great, they do need these tracks also it annoys me when at le man 2005 configuration you can drive cars built after 2005. I know I am wiered..

Yeah that would be weird...

Anyway, thanks for the help on this guys. Wish there was some way to share this with PD.

You'd probably hate the Goodwood festival in GB then, they drive old('40's-'90's) cars on new courses. Lol, I'm jesting with you.

Nice list though, but you should also separate Indianapolis by year, because it has been updated and the double S on the road course has been remove and turned into something much easier to drive through.

From the very first Gran Turismo every "original" track was available in normal and reverse direction.

But not in GT5.

Every Cape Ring is only available in one direction. So, every Cape Ring in Reverse. I tested them all and I can't comprehend why are reverses missed.

R1600, you forgot Daytona 24 hr Road Course with no chicane. The backstretch chicane was added in 1985, 5 years before Le Mans added it's chicanes.

It should be noted the GT5 Daytona road courses also uses the old, longer backstretch chicane. The new chicane design thats been in use for years before GT5 was launched is much shorter. Both bikes and the cars use the shorter chicane

Compare the chicane length in these videos. In the 2nd video the cars come out back onto the oval nearly in NASCAR turn 3 already

And it should be noted Turn 10 already includes alot of these extra tracks...not sure why Polyphony doesn't

Oh, I thought you were adding any variations that could be added with little or no hassle

I guess some of the tracks I have listed could also be excluded. What I'm mainly after is todays version of each track, they're available variations, and any other tracks on the same property.

And some tracks, like the Nurburgring, Laguna Seca and Spa, were designed in a way (elevation changes) that it is impossible to take them in reverse because you would basically take flight if you did.

For example, Eau Rouge would be... nasty in reverse.

You would pretty much fly straight into the pits.

It's not impossible to drive them reverse, but it would be more dangerous. For instance, on modern racetracks there's often a chicane added after a long straight to slow cars down. If you drive in reverse, the chicane would be before the long straight and so there's nothing (but your own fear of death) to slow you down by the end. Also, sandtraps, fencing, tire walls etc would have to be rebult completely because they are designed with one way traffic in mind. If you go reverse, you would go off track at completely new angles, where there are no sandtraps and the fencing might be too close to the track or have an angle of impact that would be fatal.

Ah yeah you're right now that I think about it.

I would still want the older Fuji variations in there, as they were fun tracks to race. They already have the basics of the course configured, since the 80's and 90's version were in GT4. It couldn't be that hard to port an upgraded version to the PS3.

EDIT - Seeing the original layout of Fuji with the huge banked section makes me want that older version even more.

Hm... What about the Nürburgring Südschleife and Betonschleife? - Classic variations of the Nürburgring.

The Monza Oval can't be used nowadays, and the Oval is not complete actually.

Also, the Le Mans Bugatti would need 3D that's not in the game now. So I wouldn't add it.

Good list!

Part of the track itself is not modeled. That's what I meant.

Only from last corner (roughly) to first hairpin is modeled. The "infield" part (if you want to call it like that) is not.

I thought it was more like "tracks that would not need new 3D modeling" (except for the odd barrier here and there). My bad!

In any case, I admit Bugatti's one of the tracks I always thought would be "easier" to add, in terms of work time.

Basically current variations of tracks we already have in the game, and tracks that are on the same property that could easily be modeled for the game.

Edit: Added Suzuka Circuit South Course, and I will also start adding links to YouTube videos so people can see these tracks.

You're missing the Endurance Pits version of Spa wich moves the start/finish line to the other side, opens up arround 40 pit/garages and moves pit exit to the top of Eau Rouge. The version we have is the GP Pits.

Yes but the track itself doesn't change at all. I'm all for having all the variants available, but in GT5 that would just mean 20 more never-used pit stalls and a different pit exit.

Edit: True, in the past they did use the other start-finish line so there is a minor change there. Although now they only seem to use the downhill line for the start of the races to (I'm assuming) avoid pileups at the now-200-foot-wide La Source on the first lap, every lap thereafter is scored at the GP finish line. At least that's how they do it for the 24.

Pretty much.

Added a bunch of video links to the OP.
