Arcade mode race on a custom track. After 45 laps I won by less than half a second! It was a constant battle throughout the race, the 350z was faster on the straights, but slower in the corner and it turned out to be a perfect performance balance!

The closest races are always the most satisfying, makes the win mean much more :) Nice choice of car too 👍.

A few things I really do appreciate compared to other games.

Rain- absolutely excellent when it really starts to come down, and having a conclusive feel for a car in conjunction with abit of tire wear on Sarthe and everything being caked in sheets of water makes for some of the best white knuckle racing I've had for awhile, and is utterly engaging. Driving above 200mph down the Sarthe straights with this is seriously addictive to master.

Seasonal events- Honestly as the GT6 lifespan comes to a close these are becoming more and more interesting to play in the various combinations PD throws us, especially for collecting colours, of which for the frustration it provides I have come to enjoy for what interesting ones PD offers us. I wouldn't mind an RGB system in the future with events still giving us unique swatches to collect, honestly. Overall a real lifetime extender.

I could probably also stretch to say AI, when wacked up, adjusts very well to course created tracks which, in an era where it is a forgotten afterthought in PC racing games such as Assetto Corsa, is a welcome shoe to slip into.

Well, there is one thing today I can praise. I play Project Cars offline for the most part, because I use a controller and the MP4-12c GT3. So that's pretty much a recipe to get utterly wrecked in a competition online. When I turned on GT6 today to finish all the seasonal events and get dat cash, only to turn it off for another month, I came across the Quick Matches.

Yes, I'm now going to praise the Quick Matches, hold on to your pitchforks ladies and gentlemen.

It took me about five tries, but eventually I got a game with twelve other cars in it! Somehow people are still playing this game, and enough to keep a decent sized grid too. So I got in the Ferrari 458 Italia and headed out onto Indianapolis for a warm-up. The race started and I got the unlucky draw of 12th place on the grid (This mode could use qualifying, but hey it's Quick Match for a reason). I launched and throughout the race, the connection worked fine, even though I was racing some people from Germany and Portugal. The cars were really balanced and everyone on the grid had a fighting chance, from the GT-R Nismo and the Ford GT to the Alfa Romeo TZ3. It was a really tight race that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last lap. I claimed 1st place after three laps and got a 300,000cr. payout, which was nice.

So yes, when it works, the Quick Match feature is very fun, easier to use than the Open Lobbies, and is really balanced for the most part (The other part being the "Bring your own car" events).

Well done on your win, I hoped you saved a replay?

I've had some fun QM's in the past, although I haven't raced online in GT6 for about a year now. Something tells me I need to get back to it.

Nice to see that GT6 & this thread are still getting some love.

I did save the replay, wouldn't let that one go to waste for anything. I'm lucky the connection even let me return to that screen without glitching.

Now I would record gameplay, but the best camera I have is a video camera with a tripod, so no hyper HD from me, but I may post it later. Last lap was especially intense but I won't spoil it in case I do post it.

If you could export the replay & upload it to a file sharing site, I'd like to have a watch!

@MrWaflz55 I think you can upload it directly to GTPlanet, if you make a .zip-file. It might depend on how big the file is though, I don't know what the filesize limit is?

C2 Corvette + supercharger + semi-racing exhaust + course maker custom hill climb track + arcade mode race = great entertainment!

The supercharger gives the Corvette high power at low engine speeds, and with the semi-racing exhaust you get a pretty mighty rumble at those revs. Hill climbs and muscle cars is simply a match made in heaven, and with the arcade mode race you get a standing start against the AI, combined with the rather difficult objective of trying to pass everyone before you reach the top of the hill (which is less than two minutes from the start, at the track I'm using).

That sounds good - I'll try it tomorrow. I recently drove the Corvette C2 1963 race car stock on sports hard tyres at deep Forest - what a great combination! It needs almost constant corrections, but is very satisfying.

If you want to try it on the same track, I'm using a new one of mine called Hammer Hill. You can find it on my community page as usual :)

Ferrari 458 Italia, HUD off, cockpit view, FFB wheel + pedals, dead of night, Nordschleife.

I honestly defy anyone to find a better driving experience in any game on any format. Not possible. I could just spend hours driving around with a daft smile on my face.

Dirt Rally with the HUD off, Ibiza Kit car on a long (16k) stage in Finland, or Oulton Park International in a full grid Formula Rookie race at sunset in Pcars (HUD off and spotter app running); both and more will do the same for me with my rig.

I've not felt this way about GT since hot-lapping in GT5P, and I'm hoping that GTS is going to change that next week.

However it is more than possible for others to feel it and have a better experience in other games, as it's an utterly subjective thing, and for me both DR and PC do it almost every time I fire them up, while GT6 leave me slightly cold. Doesn't mean either of us is right or wrong, as its totally subjective.

I'm not going to say anything bad about GT because this is the wrong thread and I appreciate this is your opinion. I'll just ask that if you had that exact same scenario/experience, but with better and more accurate physics, sounds and visuals, would that then become your new best experience, or would you still say it was in GT6? (i.e, Have you played this combo on any PC sim, or tried it in VR, with Simvibe and a motion rig?)

For me, one of my replica like NSX, F40, Nismo Z tune, 400R, CTR2, Evo VI, Integra Super Taikyu or JGTC Countach, on comfort or sports tire, no aids ( no ABS, crucial ), online ( tire wear/fuel consumption enabled ), any track + track day with other drivers.

Recently I had fun with Honda HSV SuperGT and R33 GTR LM Road, spent many laps at Apricot Hill Reverse and Bathurst.

Ok I am very late to the party with GT6 but having had all other GT games or played them I knew what I wanted out of the game until GT sport comes and this delivered and more and gets high praise from me (after the 22(20GB) updates!:sly:) so I saw how it improved very quickly since release seeing the changes updating all in one go similar to DC on PS4. The game now is complete and I thought I would leave a little note in here to say how coming from other games and consoles including the PS4 how improved and great this game really is. I have been messing with the controller initially to learn the new tracks and the cars felt good but today I set up my t300RS and seat and I have to say this for me finds the perfect handling 'sweet spot' in any game I have set it up with.
I was just going to have a quick race on GT6 then carry on with PCars and Dirt rally but ended up on it for hours race after track with each car/track..Great fun :gtpflag:

Pcars (after a lot of adjusting!) and DRally have come close but this with a slight FFB increase straight out the box and no further adjusting really needed even between classes and cars handles imo how a car should react with drifting in the snow and dirt or quick road races in London the feeling of the wheel and weight of all the cars I have tried are great. Ok the graphics are not on par with the above ^ but for a last gen game it for me is one of the best and detailed including the very powerful photomode with this being on par if not better than other photomodes I rate it in my top 3 mainly due to the adjustments and focus available along with great textures, speed and panning modes and not much compression giving most photos a realistic look.

If I had got this at the time of release back in '13/14 rather than other racing console/games and PS4 I was on I would still been on it and probably will be now until GT Sport gets released.💡

Final Verdict: Impressed :bowdown::gtplanet:

Just one from my photomode collection to show the impressive lighting 👍

I'm not going to say anything ba...

For me...

You're absolutely right guys, it is down to each individual.
I've played lots of racers; Forza, Project CARS, Assetto Corsa... none of them ever give me the same "feeling" I get from Gran Turismo. Much as the actual game part irritates the life out of me, the driving itself is sublime.

Had a great race over 30 laps in arcade mode this evening. I used the Corvette Stingray Racer Concept '59 on Sports Hard tyres and it was extremely close against the AI (I assume they were on RH tyres). Initially, I could overtake one or two cars per lap, but when I reached 5th place the remaining cars ahead of me were so fast that I really had to push the pace to keep up with them. After about 20 laps I made it up to 4th place, and a couple of laps later I got to 3rd, which I could hold for three laps until the Renault Megane rightfully reclaimed it.

I recorded the first two laps to give you an idea of the opposition. The Peugeot 205 rally car eventually picked up the pace and was glued to my mirrors for the second half of the race.

  • GT6 is the one that supports the most languages on the franchise. I speak English, but some words can be too technical and hard to understand and seeing on the first time on my native language helps a lot.
  • I feel the game is more didactic than ever, you can learn many interesting things about car history and driving techniques. Previous GT had some of this, but not on a well presented manner, it always felt too scattered across the game.
  • I always see complaints about licenses being too easy and I agree on parts. They are easier, but fairer, to complement the didactic nature of the game. If you do exactly what you're told on the instruction screen, you get Gold, simple as that. On many GTs, especially GT5, you had to do many crazy things to pass, ignoring all the instructions.
  • New lighting engine makes even some standards look nicer
  • Weather and time conditions
  • I adore the new physics engine.
  • Some new events are a little bit wacky (Sierra=OutRun; Moon), but I understand the intention of keeping things a little bit fresh. Despite some mechanics of arcade games, the simulation rules still apply and I think these events are very fun to play
  • I think that the short lenght of the game is good to some degree because I think the series were on a serious spectacle creep regarding to the main campaign and unmanageable to many people. I think it didnt had to be TOO short, but....
  • The presentation and the menus are way faster and intuitive than GT5, I just miss some "graphic porn" on menus like 5 has... :D
  • I like the soundtrack of GT6 way more than 5 in general, especially the redesigned songs from the classic games (I know they were on GT4 before, but I missed it very much on GT5 and I'm glad they return on 6)
  • UCD removed
  • Although it has less events, they generally are more flexible than before, you can use many different types of cars and this can make some "money grinding" less of a chore, because you can use different cars on the events that bring more money, for example (or use B-Spec or Seasonals :D).

Another extremely close race in arcade mode on a course maker track! 55 minutes, and just 0.05 seconds ahead at the finish

Hi:

Just signed up and eager to give my impression of GT6. First, I'm 59 years old and don't particularly like video games but, two Christmases ago, one of my sons gave me his PlayStation deck, a copy of GT6 and his Logitech Driving Force wheel/pedals. I became addicted instantly and went through the career mode with the intention of winning all the races. I would increase power, put on sticky tires... just to win. Then, somewhere along the way, I realized that it was more fun driving cars with all of the aids turned off and with very little modification except for maybe the muffler to make the car sound better. I also race in cockpit view and turn off all of the HUD information.

I have read some who complain about all kinds of things but for me, GT6 is a work of modern art! I compare GT6 to works by artists such as the Group of Seven. I grew up in Northern Ontario and have seen, close up, original works by the Group of Seven where they are able to capture the true feeling of being in the areas where they have painted. GT6 does the same for me; it's not just realistic, it's a real driving/racing experience that thrills me every time. Where else can an average Joe, for a few hundred bucks, get a sample and feeling of what it's like to drive an F40?

A huge thank you to PD and their geniuses for putting me in the driver's seat of my childhood favourite car, the Shelby Cobra. Powerful, fast, a bit of handful, pure delight!!!

Enough yakking - time to go racing whilst my better half is out of the house ;-)
