The GTPlanet Barclays Premier League 2010/2011 thread

hey dgiant...like my claret and blue veyron supersport :D :sly:

glad we beat wolves today

Great result for a local derby. Love the Veyron, looks like something Gabby would drive

What do you guys think of Houllier ?

Wouldn't have been my first choice but, given the situation we were in and who else was available, not as bad as I had feared. I guess we just have to get behind the team and give him time to see how it goes.

I think Houllier could be a pretty positive appointment. The guy has experience, and I think he could transform Villa into a European team.

He was incredible at liverpool.. He could probably do it with Villa.

As for my team liverpool, that 2-1 loss really brought us down, both on the chart and our feelings. Whats going on with liverpool? Personally I liked roy hodgson, and he did incredible things for fulham, but if we dont get a couple wins in the following weeks, Im sure to conclude with him not being fit to coach the team.

Honestly I really feel for the Liverpool fans (the only team that suffers more than us :D ),the Chelsea game for probably the first time I didn't feel sad when we lost I knew we won't I knew we would create ,I knew we would have all the possesion ,waste the chances then Drogba will go on and score.Typical Arsenal no matter what Arsene says about improvments I am not seeing any.7 points is massive ,highly unlikely we will catch them unless by a mini miracle (please God).United also look as much rubbish as we are so 2nd place is probably the realistic target .We are number one favourites in the Milk cup (well it is a trophy sort of).All in all I really don't know for how long I could take this crap year after year we made profit bravo Arsene now trophies if that is not too inconviniet for you. 👎

That sounds like us! :D

I have no clue what's happening to Liverpool. I think that a similar thing happened to Spurs with Ramos. I suppose it was patently obvious that Ramos wasn't suited to the English game, but Hodgson does not have that excuse. I am getting the idea that he does really well with small teams on a limited budget, but with the larger teams with more expectation he's way off the pace.

It also dones't help that Liverpool seem to play a very specific way, and Hodgson really doesn't appreciate that, alternatively he's trying to make the team play his way. A bit of an issue really when you have expectation and fans like Liverpool. If he had just walked into the Fulham job, I think if anything he would be afforded more time and treated a little more sympathetically by the fans. That certainly isn't the case with Liverpool.

There are other issues aside from Hodgson though; the squad is fundamentally weak. Right through the team there has been no investment in replacing quality players - Hypiia is gone, and there has been no real replacement, Carragher is well off the boil - Reina has improved but still can be unreliable.

You can go through the whole side doing that. Frustrating as it sounds, but I think a fair result for Liverpool would be about 7th in the Table. Sure, Gerrard is the best English Midfielder out there - with the possible exception of Fat Frank, but he cannot perform for England at all. And Torres - when he's playing well - is most likely the best striker in the PL.

But if you look through the rest of the team, there are key weaknesses, and you just can't afford to have them in the PL.

Having said all that, I really hope Liverpool get their act together - I don't like to see one of the big teams struggling - I was the same when Newcastle went down.

Interesting results this week, I'm very happy with a point against Chelsea. Liverpools plight seems to continue however....

I never thought I'd see the day when the shock news story of the week is that Wayne Rooney has signed for....... Manchester United!!

Well I'm glad he did stay at UTD, though I wonder how much more he'll be payed a week. Either way, I want to see him perform like last season.

Been a while since I posted in here (GT5ing) As predicted we lost at United with arguably our worst performance of the season we really can't afford to lose against CHelsea .C'mon

Been a long time since I've posted on here too, I fear that my beloved Villa will be well and truly ensconsed in a relegation battle this season. I understand that a new manager needs to be given time but Mr Houllier has me very worried at this early stage, especially given his continued love-in with a certain Anfield club

Villa are in desperate need of Squad players.Too reliant on Ashley Young and Gabby.Wouldn't be sure about a relegation fight though Andy .Villa are still a very entertaining and skilfull side.

*Manchester United fan over here*

But I also give support to Arsenal. That was a brilliant win over Chelsea.

Would have been awesome to see Arsenal get 4 points behind United after tonights game, but they sadly scored two goals. The great thing is Bendtner is playing and scoring the second goal for Arsenal, wooo

Oi :D ,Typical Arsenal really the one team that Can change the feelings of their own fans from delight to dissapointment in just 2 days,What was le prof thinking.

That is some bad refereeing in Premier League lately.
1. Lee Bowyer's equaliser on Tuesday. I can think of at least 4 reasons why this goal should be disallowed (foul on Ferdinand, Zigic's handball, Bowyer's offside, and he should consider himself lucky to be on the pitch, straight-leg attack on Gibson earlier). Yet another league points thrown away at away matches by Man United.
2. Man City - Aston Villa game at Eastlands. I think that after Lescott's shot, the ball didn't cross the line. And the Balotelli's goal was from an offside. I doubt that would change the course of the game anyway
3. Wigan - Arsenal on DW yesterday. Arsenal deserved a penalty when one of Wigan players blocked the free kick with his hand.

I agree with bradford I read an article on an Arsenal blog on Refree's performances this season and I was shocked by how poor they scored .Arsenal have been on the bad end for alot of those (we are used to it but still)This is the best League in the world sadly the Refs are Incompetent.

Tell me about it. We have to start winning games and fast, our chelsea result was hopefully a new start.

Great another loss....

I fear we are very much relegation candidates now. I don't understand how a manager can take a top 6 side (albeit minus one very good player) and turn them into a bottom 3 club. I'm usually an advocate of giving a new manager time but in this case, for the good of the club Houllier needs to go NOW. Caught in a relegation scrap with a load of players who don't want to perform for him and a handful of teenagers is a recipe for absolute disaster.

Arsenal is getting stronger. I'm happy to see Van Persie looking sharp and Theo is dangerous.... can't wait for Barca.

Well, we have Bent for 18mil+. Some say a waste of money but I think its a good deal for a proven goalscorer and a good statement of intent from our board.

Villa fans rejoice  Bent is red Hot.RVP is back stunning performance by the Arsenal Hope United slip soon though .
