the Chelsea game for probably the first time I didn't feel sad when we lost I knew we won't I knew we would create, I knew we would have all the possesion, waste the chances then Drogba will go on and score.
That sounds like us!
I have no clue what's happening to Liverpool. I think that a similar thing happened to Spurs with Ramos. I suppose it was patently obvious that Ramos wasn't suited to the English game, but Hodgson does not have that excuse. I am getting the idea that he does really well with small teams on a limited budget, but with the larger teams with more expectation he's way off the pace.
It also dones't help that Liverpool seem to play a very specific way, and Hodgson really doesn't appreciate that, alternatively he's trying to make the team play his way. A bit of an issue really when you have expectation and fans like Liverpool. If he had just walked into the Fulham job, I think if anything he would be afforded more time and treated a little more sympathetically by the fans. That certainly isn't the case with Liverpool.
There are other issues aside from Hodgson though; the squad is fundamentally weak. Right through the team there has been no investment in replacing quality players - Hypiia is gone, and there has been no real replacement, Carragher is well off the boil - Reina has improved but still can be unreliable.
You can go through the whole side doing that. Frustrating as it sounds, but I think a fair result for Liverpool would be about 7th in the Table. Sure, Gerrard is the best English Midfielder out there - with the possible exception of Fat Frank, but he cannot perform for England at all. And Torres - when he's playing well - is most likely the best striker in the PL.
But if you look through the rest of the team, there are key weaknesses, and you just can't afford to have them in the PL.
Having said all that, I really hope Liverpool get their act together - I don't like to see one of the big teams struggling - I was the same when Newcastle went down.
