What is the issue? We have enough people reproducing. People's goal in life should not be to make as many people as possible. I know for sure that isn't my goal in life.

No racism is not more serious.

"You black?"

"Yes"

*gun fire*

"You gay?"

"Yes"

*gun fire*

And don't deny that the second issue does happen. You've got people in here saying that gay marriage is not legitimate and they wonder where the second thing comes from.
Guess what we aren't in a perfect world, and we'll never see it. There's no control on how people react and that's a weak example. My stance on the LBGT community: you got your rights and just shut it! But no they have to keep pushing their agenda in the media. Michael Sam and Jason Collins are examples of what's wrong in society, we accept failure. The men aren't qualified for their respected job yet they're pushed beyond belief. Jason Collins had the 5th highest selling jersey in the NBA last year which is unbelievable being that the scrub only average 1point/1rebound, that's what's wrong in society today. Had it been a straight player, he would've be cut. The gay card saved his sorry career. But the media just wants everyone to hush and not critique. Michael Sam 7th round pick got a thirty minute special on ESPN for being gay, the guy had one of the worst combined records in NFL draft history for a defensive end, yet no one mentions it. Stop running from the truth America, it'll only hurt your longevity.

The gay marriage debate is kindof a strange one because it has such an easy solution - rename all legal marriages "civil unions". Heterosexual, homosexual, doesn't matter - it's a civil union, a legally binding contract recognized by the government. "Marriage" or whatever other term they prefer can continue to be used by churches to describe religious or spiritual unions. I have no problem with the legal term being something other than marriage, call it a D4777-L if you want, doesn't matter to me, but it should be the same for anyone entering into that contract.

To be clear, a religious person would have both a civil union (government term) and a marriage (church speak), or a "god union", or a "Jesus match" or a "holy merger".
Even better, rather than allowing religious institutions to redefine language to suit, let the official union be called "marriage" and allow each religion to come up with a new term for its own union. The Catholics could call it a Boysafe (to recognise that the men they don't allow to marry aren't safe around boys) or a GODSMASH?

Who wouldn't want a GODSMASH? Think of all the converts.

This just in: gays have equal rights all across the world despite only being able to marry in 20/50 states.

Pack it up folks, @GTP_GTDOJO has ensured LGBT rights forever.

Now you're complaining about something entirely unrelated to homosexuality. You're complaining about the same thing that makes people love a movie like Rocky. People root for the underdog. Wake up America, stop rooting for the underdog! Wait what?

Did my story before not sink in? Or should I write it in plain English again?

The LGBT community is far, far away from being accepted universally.

I find it strange it's the same group of friends defending each other. We are talking about homosexuality in the western world I could careless about what happens elsewhere. Putin got the right memo

So just because things will never be perfect we should not strive to improve and make things better?

And it's not just about rights but also about attitudes. Something which is slowly changing thanks to the hard work of many fine people.

Oh my God... are you not getting this? The world has people who would like to abuse/injure/kill other because of their sexuality. All over the world. Did my story not click with you at all?

Did my story before not sink in? Or should I write it in plain English again?

The LGBT community is far, far away from being accepted universally, because of attitudes like yours.
You're in high-school kid, not on my academic level: Electrical Engineering Stanford 2013" I should be able to defend my character if I keep getting attacked with harsh tones; "Did my story before not sink in? Or should I write it in plain English again?"
On the issue again; if homosexuals were given full rights globally: would you still push your agenda? cause I know it's a farce, look at Canada.

It's not about being "friends", there's a big overlap here between a liberal and libertarian contingent. Just so happens that on this topic the opinions line up. The "friends" you see here will argue with eachother on everything from guns to taxes.

And again, only 20/50 US states allow marriage (19 and DC ), so I'm not sure how they "have their rights". If people like you would stop making a big stink everytime these things happen, it wouldn't have to be on TV.

I don't know what you mean by "look at Canada". Our media isn't full of stories about gay people all the time because it isn't a story anymore. Kathleen Wynne is gay and it's a complete non story, the only scandal around her is about her politics. I guess this is where you'll point out that there's pride parades once a year in big cities as if it's indicative of a liberal agenda, but if that's enough to upset you, then perhaps the issue isn't the LGBT community.

Why does a qualification in electrical engineering make you have a greater say in a homosexuality debate? What does my age have to do with putting together an argument?

I'm struggling to keep up with all the nonsense @Agent_47 and @GTP_GTDOJO are coming up with  Wouldn't it be easier to just ignore them until they come up with a vaguely rational argument that doesn't involve sky fairies, making up completely false "facts" and.. Well, I still don't get what Dojo is trying to say, something about the media making stories that sell the best, who knew?

Wakey! Wakey! society is like that regardless of rights. What about white kids getting attacked and beaten by people of different races (I'm not even full white) but there's no reporting of the issue. What makes the LBGT more special than others. It's Animal farm all over. You know some animals are more equal than others. And the media certainly treats the LBGT like that. No one is challenging the Jason Collins or Michael Sam issue I wonder why? Truth hurts!

I don't see how its weak. It shows how similar racism and homophobia are. All forms of bigotry are bad. Hating people based on skin color is not worse than hating people based on orientation.

The shirt sells because of the Rosa Park effect.

"I'm not afraid to publicly state I'm gay, just like a straight person wouldn't be afraid to say they're straight."

Had it been a straight player, he would've be cut. The gay card saved his sorry career.
I suppose that could be considered overcompensation in a way, like affirmative action when it comes to schools. It's not what's needed and the mindset behind it needs to be changed. I don't follow football so I can't really comment on the details, but this is probably in part a response to the old anti-gay stance. When people decide to get over homosexuality, this kind of thing will fade as well.

But the media just wants everyone to hush and not critique.
Actually they want you here arguing with me so that they can keep publishing similar stories and make you argue with me so that the story remains a big deal and they keep selling.

Michael Sam 7th round pick got a thirty minute special on ESPN for being gay, the guy had one of the worst combined records in NFL draft history for a defensive end, yet no one mentions it. Stop running from the truth America, it'll only hurt your longevity.
Right and the special was because he's a gay player in a world where gay people are treated unfairly. Rosa Parks.

High school is sufficient to argue with you. This is a logical debate. Degrees are not required or necessarily helpful.

You aren't reading the news that much then.
What makes the LBGT more special than others. It's Animal farm all over. You know some animals are more equal than others.
Nothing makes them "special". Nobody claims they are, nor do they want to be viewed that way. This has been repeated several times, and you don't appear to be taking it in.
No one is challenging the Jason Collins or Michael Sam issue I wonder why? Truth hurts!
What is there to be challenging? Homosexuality? We need to be challenging abusive and bigoted views towards it, hence the media coverage.
Well, I still don't get what Dojo is trying to say, something about the media making stories that sell the best, who knew?
Apparently, the LGBT community is a media stunt of some kind.

Maybe because globally, it's not nearly as big a problem? And no that doesn't mean that it's not wrong.

Also I'm sure that it does get reported.

The beating of gays is legal and encouraged in some nations. In some others it's outlawed, but the culture is such that gays are looked down upon.

The same was true when it came to race a few decades ago, but then people got over it. Now by and large racism is a less widespread issue.

EDIT

As it stands racism isn't ignored anyway. And it's not like you can only focus on one issue at a time. They're both problems, therefore expect to see mentions of both.

I'm struggling to keep with up with your trance from reality(defending myself again). Just yesterday someone said they were a physics/mechanical engineering guru yet they have no degree, well in the professional world people would laugh at that amateurism (This shows acceptance of failure). The LBGT cards is running out of approval stamps. It's nothing more than a fad, that has its share of band-wagoners. Please feel free to tackle the Jason Collins & Michael Sam issue, I've yet to see anyone challenge it so far, because it's the truth. The gay card is their protection if a team were to fire those scrubs the backlash from the media would unrelenting.

It's nothing like a fad. Before you categorised it as "another hate crime", so do you think everyone against racism is part of a fad?

So you mean to tell me Jason Collins and Micheal Sam brought information to light in a way that would be advantageous to them? What horrible people, imagine if they had brought up their electrical engineering degrees to justify their position!

It's the same thing as Tebowmania. As Danoff has repeatedly said, it's about the underdog story.

Not sure if you're saying this or not, but just in case you are: being gay is no more a fad than being heterosexual.

...because of underdog rooting. Am I invisible or something?

Not my problem if it affects others in the Eastern Hemisphere. I look at what happens in my home first. Could care less what happens there, America by your standards should referee other nations regarding gay rights yet there's issues in Israel ( Jews/Palestinians/Christians ).

What? America has to what? There are nations besides the US just so you know. They are as capable recognizing rights as anyone else. The non US part of the world doesn't sit around in the US's waiting room when they need something done.

Homophobia is a global issue. It needs to be addressed worldwide by everyone.

Also if you didn't notice the map I linked to before (that Famine also linked to earlier) contains the US and it's not uniformly colored.

What makes the LBGT more special than others.
Nothing. That's the point.

At the moment they get special treatment - banning them from marrying, serving in the military, adopting children, giving blood and so on and so forth. They shouldn't get special treatment - governments, which take from them without discrimination, should protect their rights without discrimination.

By marking them out as different you are making them more special.

You are separating church and state there, shouldn't the same be done for the LBGT issue. That's quite bias if you ask me. A true libertarian doesn't adhere on one's belief if it differs, hence the separation of church and state. Issues regarding sex isn't the governments issue and that includes the advertising of pro-homosexuality (even pro heterosexual). That's a bedroom issue and the government shouldn't be forced to advertise/promote it in public institutions.
Who wouldn't want a GODSMASH? Think of all the converts.

The funny thing is that most pedophiles are actually atheist?
