Someone posted a pretty serious coming out video to the /r/gaybros subreddit, and it was cross-posted to /r/videos, and it's now sitting on the front page.

Language warning.

This... made me cringe... like hell. Of all the things being said in that video and the only thing that I could do was watch, that made me... on the verge of shedding a tear, and that hardly has happened before.

How the ****ing hell... can they say they love them, but will throw their own child out in the word of their religion, their god? THEIR OWN CHILD. The things that would be said and the craziness I would be lashing if I was around them...

That video is an example of why some young LGBT children choose to commit suicide...
and they wonder why we're pushing so hard.

I am a believer of God, so yes, I'm religious. This is in no way right.

God taught us to love any and all, regardless of looks, or preferences, or what have you. God himself never spoke on homosexuality, it was two other people in the Bible. Even then, they described it as something not like modern day homosexuality. This to me, is a hypocritical bunch of parents, and are spitting on the face of my religious belief. It's a damn shame that this man is rejected by his own family, it's just wrong on so many levels. You don't need to agree with it, but you need to accept it, it's your son. Smh at these hypocritical religious.

This

Being a minority isn't easy in this big world of ours. It scares some people & they react with fear & hate coursing through their veins.

The last place on Earth we should feel afraid, persecuted & victimized is in the family home.

I'm not the slightest bit religious myself. I had a go at it when I was 16 -19 but it's not for me.

The one thing that stuck in my mind though, for several reasons, is "Thou shall not judge."

The Mother says she won't be judged by people outside of her home & yet she does exactly that!
That in itself makes the parents of this young guy absolute hypocrites & I hope they wake up to themselves before it's too late.

It's just so utterly horrifying. The scariest part is how many people live their lives just one notch of crazy below those parents and think they're still great people.

Romans 1:26,27 This is why God delivered them over to degrading passions. For even their females exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones, (27) and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

Leviticus 18:22 You are not to have sexual relations with a male as you would with a woman. It's detestable.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality...will inherit the kingdom of God.

I find it hilarious that in a time where my smartphone or PC is outdated the moment I walk out of a store, we're still preaching from a book that hasn't seen change in 3000 years. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against religion, but I just think that it's time to change the way we think about some things. The world has changed.

Well lucky for me I'm an atheist otherwise I'd be in big trouble :P

If you're going to quote Leviticus to back up your argument...
Leviticus 25:44-46
However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way.

I knew religion wasn't for me the day the Pastor at my church said Homosexuals are a disgrace & will burn in hell come judgment day.

Walked out & never went back

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

What argument?

Leviticus 18:22 You are not to have sexual relations with a male as you would with a woman. It's detestable.

That quote is always a sure sign of someone who doesn't know what they're talking about, albeit in my opinion.

What else does Torah say in Leviticus? Anything you actually ignore daily as a Christian? Or are you Jewish?

What would you expand the full meaning of that quote as?

A couple years ago back in highschool we had a priest of some sort come over to "give a lecture about wisdom". Well, that turned out to be your average anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-premarital sex sort of thing. One of the things he started his performance with was the claim that "homosexuality was made up by rich people to reduce the population".

By the time he compared abortion to an Iraq soldier being threatened to kill his kid by a terrorist I kinda cracked up, raised my hand and politely pointed out that he was talking bullcrap.

I stand corrected and absolutely mortified.

Now I am in complete shock and disgust...

What if I told you that before The Bible and religion, there was homosexuality.

Also, is anyone aware that some fundamentalist Christians and Catholics prefer boys and men to women?

This whole argument and poll is quite insignificant when there are hordes of marauding rapists and pedophiles roaming this planet harming many people that are helpless and defenseless.

I think some perspectives need realigning as this matter shouldn't be an issue. Leave them to get on with it and carry on looking after yourselves and, your family's.

Let me ask you this:

Do you believe in God in personal sense or do you believe in God in a religious sense? Are you a specific type of Christian? It's fine not to follow a religion and believe in God. I don't either way, but sometimes I don't get why people tend to lump those two together.

I believe in God. What he's done.

I also believe in the Big Bang. And evolution.

I think that God planned these scenarios. And the whole Adam and Eve thing happened at the same time...

But reading this... What the hell happened to "God loves all his children"!?

So I suppose, personal.

He?

Evolution has much explaining to do. As for the BB, there has always been something. How did it all come from nothing?

There has never been any planning. The universe is like a clockwork toy, wind it up and let it do it's own thing. Adam & Eve was a turning point in our consciousness, they weren't physical beings that we all came from.

But reading this... What the hell happened to "God loves all his children"!?

Clockwork toy. If he loves us all, why so much suffering EVERYWHERE?

Just to clarify, I do believe in an energy that rules every living thing on this planet (God if you like) and makes it the most astounding place ever but, I do not feel very strongly for religion. The bigger and louder the religion, the more I dislike it.

If I had to choose one single religion to follow tomorrow, I would become a Rasta. Best religion out there if you ask me, plenty of contradictory people in that religion as well though.

I don't know... I feel I've been lied to

Yes human error also "personal" error.( no, i do not mean homoseaxuality)

This is how you should use the word of god.( except the "hell" word ;))
I don't believe anymore, i was raised believing, but at one point, i couldn't believe it anymore.
Too many contradictions in my eyes.

People abuse the bible for good and wrong.( and not only the bible)

I'm happy that @nascarfan1400 does not abuse his faith in "GOD"

Homosexual is human, it excists as long as the written word and longer.
But that is all i know about it.
I don't know if it is a choice, a feeling, a lifestyle.
But after so many many years and centuries and who knows how long, people are still affraid for homosexual persons.
Why? That only happens in prison..( i think)

I don't know... I feel I've been lied to
Why?

It's fine if you believe in some sort of god. It's fine if you don't. What's not fine is when you have a group, religious or non-religious, telling how each other what to believe. I'm not sold on the idea of the Big Bang Theory, I'm not sold on Adam and Eve, and I'm not sold on the belief in God. I'm just neutral- we're all here, so what does it matter now? Personally, if I had to pick, I'd side with the atheists, but idgaf to be honest. But nooooo, one or the other wants to be deemed right.

Can I ask what more explaining does evolution need to do? And nowhere in the Big Bang theory does it say the Universe came from nothing, it simply says that the universe started expanding 13.7 billion years ago, and says nothing about what happened beforehand.

I'm not sold on the idea of the Big Bang Theory.

Well the thing is, the atheist position can't possibly be wrong, because all it's saying is that you don't think that a god exists with 100% certainty. (Technically if you could find a way of proving a god exists with 100% certainty, it would be wrong, but good luck with that one.)

Because the outdated 8th grade books says it came from a bang, though it's a theory. I don't know if it's right, I don't know if it's wrong, but in my opinion, I'm not saying it's like a fact.

I'm not going to continue on making this thread into a religious thread, but I lack any belief, so that's that.

Using your belief against other humans who aren't deemed as 'normal' (as I said before, what deems as normal? One person's normal can be different from someone else's normal) isn't right or fair.

I guess the difference between myself and the other religious people, is that I have an open mind.

I believe that God is real. If he isn't. Okay, that's that. I was wrong.
I still respect the views of any and all, so long that they provide it in a peaceful manner.

I don't care if your gay, striaght, atheist, Jewish, whatever... I will Judge the person on how they act. If they are kind, or just one of those people that just love to hate on people. All these labels? All these preferences? Why? It's their choice, it's their life, you cannot change what they believe. Quite honestly, I feel that the parents in that video are an abomination- ridiculous. Your own flesh and blood. Again, you don't need to agree, but you'd better get used to it, you can't just go "Oh, sorry, I'll like women again". For some, it's a choice. For some, they were born with it. I for one, will accept anyone. I find it stupid not to just because of their religion/sexuality.

For a moment I thought I was in the God thread.

The atheist position says that you shouldn't believe in anything that you aren't certain about. The whole concept of faith goes against atheism.

Like the "it's only a theory" of gravity, or the "it's only a theory" of evolution. They both are "facts". Moreso than most things people consider facts.
