I was showing you that here in the US, most of the people have voted, and most of them have voted against gay marriage. Sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear.
I'll tell you what I wanted to hear: some context as to how your statement fits into the conversation as a whole instead of a raw URL, a vague statement and a condescending attitude when people can't follow your train of thought.

Yes, I am a school teacher - but it's not my fault that you can't construct a cohesive argument that effectively makes your point.

While I have been following this thread, I was replying to your quote:

I think Ireland had the right idea - put the question to the people. If you let the politicians decide, it becomes a political issue. If we held a referendum tomorrow, it's likely that gay marriage would be legalised - but the conservatives are in power and go out of their way to shut the idea down.

I was simply replying to what you said. I was pointing out that here in the US, that is not true. When people were allowed to vote on the subject most people voted against gay marriage.
I have no idea what that has to do with the subject, since the referendum was in Ireland and I'm not in America.
I have no idea why what I posted has nothing to do with the subject. It is exactly what your post was about.

The people here voted no on gay marriage, not the conservative politicians that you like to blame for all of the world's ills.

So not only have you failed to provide any context to your post, you have also ignored the context of mine.
The context of your post was let the people decide, not the conservative politicians who are currently in charge and go out of their way shut the idea down.

I was ONLY pointing out that WE in the US have done that. The PEOPLE voted NO on gay marriage.

You say that has nothing to do with what you were talking about, ok, I was talking about the United States, not Ireland.

A school teacher, really?

The context of your post was let the people decide
No, the content of my post was "let the people decide". The context of my post - the personal, social, historical, economic and ideological factors that led to my post being formed - was "if we had a referendum", where the "we" in question was Australia. That's when you showed up talking about America with nothing to show its relevance to the discussion arc.

Like I said, it's not my fault that you can't create a cohesive argument.

Sorry to jump in, but I just have to say I really don't see how prisonermonkeys' occupation is relevant to anything but being extremely condescending.
It was Chrunch Houston who brought it up, not PM.

And PM is right, Chrunch is making no sense whatsoever.

Exactly. It was brought up for the sole purpose of trying to belittle someone (instead of just clarifying the point).
Ah, I hadn't realised that PM hadn't quoted the entire post, sorry. In that case, I totally agree with you. If your argument is incomprehensible then telling someone that they should be smart enough to understand it is really not going to help.

Point invalidated when you said "let the people decide". Which "people" are you talking about? Only Irish and Australians, but not Americans?

Well, he did say "if we had a referendum here".

Granted, on the internet everyone is an American until proven otherwise.

I was not making and argument at all. I merely stated a fact and supplied a link to back it up. I gave no opinion whatsoever on the subject.

Then why post it? It was just a pointless interjection into the discussion.
@prisonermonkeys said "If we held a referendum tomorrow, it's likely that gay marriage would be legalised".
I posted the results of referendums that have taken place in the US. That is all.

Apparently PM's 'we' does not include the people of the United States. Though he never said who the 'we' were. Someone said Australia, but the last time I checked he had the flag of a Caribbean island under his avatar.

You still haven't satisfactorily given a reason as to why you posted it.

So you assumed that he lives in the US even though his location says otherwise? For future reference, not everyone in the world lives in America.

PM is Australian, he has the flag of Santa Lucía below his avatar, not everyone here has their location as the exact place they live, you know..

Back to "topic"

I scored a zero at the Kinsey scale.

The questions and the amount of them seems quite weak on that. Might aswell go "On a scale of 0 to 6, how gay are you?"
👍
