Me old pal GTFAN2005 just showed me this crazy driving simulator. It says on their website that it can create up to 2G in G-Forces! If you want to see it in action then go to www.force-dynamics.com and go on the videos section. I havent watched all the videos yet but form what i've seen the first one is the best. Here's a pic of it too:

It looks like a hell of a lot of fun. But, to be honest, for $20,000 i'd rather get myself a used GT-R or build myself a small trakc day car.

The looks and specs match the asking price: INSANE! :)

80 degrees of rotation per second sounds like fun though. And I didn't need both arms or both feet anyway...

Now all they need to do is make it work with GT4, or the PS3 and GT5...

Looks like they've got some issues to sort out with the car orientation representation side of things though. Almost sounds like they've got is backwards, but I'm sure the feeling is almost as good.

I'd buy it for $2000, because the whole point of it is to simulate the movement in a real race car, but for $20,000, you could build yourself a small race car anyway lol. I suppose it would be fun actually being scared of crashing though.

yeah, no kidding... thats a bit extreme for something thats not really going to be too useful in the long run.
I'm assuming the game needs to be disected and special interperatation software needs to be written to drive the movement off the machine based on what is being rendered.
so any game you want to get motion out of is probably going to need a patch written for it... aka... almost impossilbe to play console games, and very little support for pc games.

its like my Act-Labs shifter's horrid game support to the nth power.

used gt-r huh, better start lookin for those $20,000 skylines

That's an awesome set-up. $20,000 is also way too expensive. Notice I said expensive not overpriced.

I am actually waiting for Logitech to release their next wheel. I would like one with a 6 speed transmission and a clutch (besides the 900 degrees). I would pay as much as $200 for one like that.

i've had a shifter and a clutch for over 4 years... why wait for logitech?

how???

and yea i also agree the addition of a clutch pedal and a handbrake would be awesome...considering some games have a clutch button option

Ever heard of Frex? Go here: http://www.frex.com/gp/

It's expensive but hey, they have clutches, 8-speed H-pattern shifters, e-brake handles, wheels, force feedback brake pedals, Just about everything you could want, but the clutch and H-pattern are not compatable with the PS2, however. But I want an e-brake handle so bad. I put the e-brake as shift+ on the wheel before and it helped so much, it sucked shifting with the paddles though.

Now, add in SRS airbags, dvd player, GPS system, and a horn then I'd call this a sim. :) And please allow the player to actually die or injured for crashing. 👍

Maybe it will also have those digital sensors that stick to your head, arms, torso and legs so you can "feel" the damage. Maybe a two big plates around you for the ultimate damage. You totalled your car? Fine, then the two plates squish you like an ant.... :nervous:

Heh, the prices are in Japanese Yen. 👍

Its weird that they'd charge more for something that simulates something you could buy for less. Its like charging 500 bux for a toboggan simulator when you can buy one at Walmart for 20 bux.

A small canadian company called Act-Labs made a whoop ass controller in 2000 or so... i think i got mine in early '01

edit: yipes... i took a look over at my old account on the act-labs forums, i was posting in january 2000. so i've actually had her for over 5 years now... oh how the time flies. (and 5+ years of use, man i got my money's worth)

cost me about $300; was worth every penny though... has the best feedback of any wheel i've ever used, very durable, excellent build quality all around... it had a huge following in the pc-sim racing crowd; especially with GPL players.

Here's a picture of mine

7 forward gears on the shifter + reverse
+ fully analogue clutch

its great for GTR, LFS etc...
i'm dying to see if there is a way to get the wheel (obviously not the shifter) to work on GT4, since i'm certanly not going to buy another lesser wheel just for gt4.

It is expensive, but in the end I'd probably give in and get it. Do they still sell them?

Also do you have the shifter just hanging like that? Doesn't it slip when you actually shift?

Sweet, you have the discontinued RS wheel. How is it?
