The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Doesn't the Audi LMS have a V10, too?

Yes. But I assume he meant 8.4l V10...
And the Audi does not race in GTE.

There is no limitation of the number of cylinders allowed, only a maximum displacement of 5500cc.

They did that because of the Corvette. I think they felt it was unfair with the size of the C6 GT1's engine and the amount of torque it made? I don't recall the exact reason. Another key detail about Dyson's efforts- Michelin tires this year! Remember they were running Dunlops which aren't quite on the level the Michelin tires are.

The FIA WEC's LMGTEPro class is gonna see a three-way factory battle royale this coming season. Porsche, Ferrari, and Aston Martin will each field a two-car factory team in the class.

Start your engines and let's get ready to rumble!!

It is all very wonderful and it is very exciting when it is a tight battle between three big manufacturers in GT's but it ain't breaking news sadly. We have known for ages is is a Ferrari v Porsche v Aston Martin 3-way battle.

AF Corse will represent Ferrari with Gianmarina Bruni and two others in one 458 Italia and Olivier Beretta headlining the other.

AG Team Manthey will run Porsche's for Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz and Timo Bernhard in one 911 RSR and in the other Jog Bergmeiser, Patrick Pilet and Romain Dumas.

Aston Martin Racing will race Darren Turner, Stefan Mucke and Peter Dumbreck on one Vantage and Frederic Makowiecki, Bruno Senna and Rob Bell in the other.

ESM unveiled their 2013 Patron livery! They claim the green streaks are also neon filled, so they'll glow in the night as well.

Patron Livery on the HPD chassis. All is right with the world again

Can't wait to see it in action.

Brilliant news! So that means there could be 5 manufacturers in LMP1 by 2015(ish)? (Audi, Toyota, Porsche, Nissan, and Renault)?

Possibly 6 if Honda decide to take the helm with the HPD squads (they're not really works cars).

In other news, Toyota is back testing their TS030- this time at Motorland Aragon in Spain.

Sorry for the double post. But here is the Livery of the LMP1 Rebellion Racing car(s) that will take part in ALMS and WEC this year

Should've known with the F1 car sporting that questionable red that it was eventually going to find its way on these cars.

Oddly though, it actually works here.

Uhh, Red and Gold are Rebellion's original colors before the 'Lotus' sponsorship! It comes from the Swiss flag ;)-

The red hasn't been on it the last two seasons though so again, the red seems to only have appeared because of the official Lotus colors on the F1 car.

Also FYI, I'm very aware of the Swiss flag as well as their original colors (which again were before Lotus jumped onto their cars).

What? The Red has always been there. The Lotus sponsorship brought the 'off Gold' and Black to their cars. Not the Red, the Red was even before Rebellion Racing was known as 'Rebellion Racing' 👍

That picture I posted above? 2011.

2009 (known as Speedy Racing)-

Even as Speedy Racing in 2009 the Red was always a part of their car. Lotus didn't bring the Red. Red on Lotus' F1 car is mostly because of Total's sponsorship.

2014 will be so much fun - Audi vs Toyota vs Porsche vs Nissan. Finally a real Le Mans Race! Not 2 manufacturers going against each other. The only manufacturer missing is Renault
