The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

I know this is no news, but it's a pity there are no american manufacturers in the GT classes. We'll have them at Le Mans though 👍

PS - I suppose they (Corvettes & Vipers) will be able to enter selected WEC rounds, like COTA 6 Hours.

Nope. They have their own race at the same meeting which is shared with the WEC like it was last year with the ALMS (RIP).

WEC looks decent, mostly as expected. The only surprise entry is the LMP1 Kodewa-Lotus. Only disappointed with the LMP2 numbers shrinking; only 1 OAK and no Alpine is unfortunate.

ELMS entry list looks very good. Last year LMP2 was great and it should be just as good if not better this year with quality new entries. And with no LMPC (yay) and both GT classes getting big boosts, it's just a fantastic entry list. Looking forward to Silverstone and Imola.

And the LM entry list, well, it's as expected as well. The backbone is again WEC cars, with a plethora of ELMS-based entries reinforcing LMP2, Corvette and SRT in GTE-Pro and a few ALMS entries scattered in. Should be a good race.

I don't think the Lotus is a huge surprise because last years LMP2 car was built with the 2014 LMP1 regulations in mind, it was always the plan for them but with some of their financial horrors of last year seeing them back is a bonus.

That's what I was getting at. With all their legal and financial (and performance for what it's worth) problems last year, I didn't expect them to try to make the jump to P1 this year. The fact that Kodewa is able to finance a P1 program, while at the same time OAK and Dome are forced to postpone their own P1 plans, is surprising to me.

What an ugly un-ergonomic looking wheel! Obviously my observation is completely wrong as they just wouldn't design an uncomfortable steering wheel for an endurance racing car... But still that's damn ugly!!!

Race Car Engineering is a very credible source, but "nothing revealed" sounds like Sam is pussy-footin' around.

That video is specific of the Le Mans 24 Hour race. I see that a specific thread for the greatest motorsports event in the world has been closed already, but I just can't grasp the rationality of it.

I will wait for another to be opened so I can discuss the Le Mans 24. Maybe the mods think it is too early for us to have one.

I plan on opening it around may, just after WEC start. If anyone deosn't object - i've done it last two years.

Just found a place that's doing an all inclusive package to Le Mans.

Thursday to Monday with hotels all the nights plus they leave a coach at the track Saturday - Sunday if you don't want to go back to the hotel for £380.
