The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

My truck at work is speed limited to 100kph by law, 2 GPS tests say its actually limited to 99.7kph, while the speedo tells me I'm doing a 105kph. Not everything you see can be believed,

Probably tyre related, that's why most countries have a several-percent margin of error in law when it comes to cases related to speedometer readout.

Race cars are generally cleverer and will automatically adjust speed maps for the kind of tyres that are fitted. That's certainly true of F1 and I see no reason why other proto classes would be any different.

Let's say the margin of error in the race car is the same (unlikely) as in your trerck, it still hit 303. Not shoddy, really. I wonder if you just don't like the car? :D

Take your bets now boys. Whoever wins gets the first Chassis*

*warning the winner will in fact not get the first chassis, or the second or any others...good luck!

Just going to make one thing clear first, first and foremost, I am a motorsport fan, of all varieties, I personally classify Le Mans the number one race in the world,

The fact is there are 3 cars on the entry list that as far as I know are still not compliant with the safety regulations, yet they are still guaranteed slots on the grid, this is where the FIA/ ACO should have stepped in and said, "you have to this date to prove your safety and technology or we will give on slot of yours away, then you will have to this date before we give the other slot away," there may or may not be more teams on the reserve list like Riley Tech Viper that can and will compete and do everything within their power to ensure their car sees the finish,

And even if the LMGTR is functioning properly come race day and is somehow competitive, will they let it race or will they bring it in every few hours for a once over and usb swap? That isn't motor racing, and to add I would be just as pessimistic if Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, VW or any other manufacture was this unprepared this close to the event,

As for @R1600Turbo and his employment status, I wasn't aware of it, that's his personal business and none of mine,

Where are you hearing that they are not compliant with the regulations? Please enlighten me on this mysterious source because you are the only one in this entire thread that seems to know about it.

All I see in this post is a lot of misinformation and/or a lot of of assumptions.

All I see in this post is a lot of misinformation and/or a lot of of assumptions.

All of my information comes from youtube videos and links usually posted by you, I used the term "as far as I know" which I chose wisely as I'm not completely up to date with all things LMGTR and expected someone to pull the old internet trick "you know nothing!!!" And spam me with updated links proving its eligibility,

Look, I don't know the current regs completely, but I'm pretty sure they would not have overlooked a violation of the regulations that could easily be seen by you in a youtube video.

Not all 3 but I'm sure one of them is in contention to be the first to the bar on Saturday.
Okay we get it...

Id bet that one of the cars will be out of the race inside 5 laps due to a temperature issue caused by turbulent air, this is an issue that could have been rectified at silvertstone,
This is about the silliest logic Ive heard so far in this thread. Turbulent air causing a temperature issue is one thing thats false, the second thing being Silverstone could have rectified it.

First, turbulent air isnt going to somehow overheat the car, this isn't Daytona or Talladega. Second fallacy is they would learn from Silverstone. The same Silverstone with slightly above freezing temperatures? Im not sure they would be overheating from that cold air. That somehow must be heated up from turbulence...?

Someone else said the same thing, Iirc, it was @Holdenhsvgtsr making these "non-compliant" remarks.

People been doing that for a while. Please stop clutching at straws...
No straws being clutched at all if it wants to be classed as making it to the end then I hope they don't class that as being going across the start line then sit in a garage till the last 5 minutes.
