I love posts like these. If you personally think GT is the best console racing game and is untouchable, then whatever. That's your opinion, as much as I disagree with that sentiment. But stating it as a fact is just laughable.

What other realistic racing games are out there console wise.

All the others I've seen are too arcadey (if spelt right)

No one can say GT is the best driving game EVER, Kaz himself would be the first to admit that, and we all know it.

The whole GT series is still an on-going project, never ending. That's why Kaz continue to make them, to try to achieve the perfection he had and is having in mind. With each iteration, it would seem perfection is a moving target, making PD trying to reach higher and higher...

GT6 is not the best driving game out there, no driving game can be considered as the best right now... they all have there short-comings.

But GT6 will be one of the best driving games we can get right now.

Is GT series of games are a Legend? Yes ! Because nothing before has reached this level of involvement and dedication! Nothing. Therefore and that's why Kaz, PD and the GT series should be considered as the main contributors to such never-ending quality and continuous improvement...

Yes, we have seen cars games in the past, we have played with toy cars, we had Mario Karts, we had and we still have the Need for Speed series, we have computer simulators for decades... but something like GT, we never had...

And for that, we can say thanks to Kaz, PD, Sony!

I was under the impression it's GT that is trying to catch up.

I dont know when you started playing the GT series... but GT was the first car game with a vision, with a specific goal, and that is to democratize and to allow players with more quality/realist choices in terms of cars available.

All other games simply followed the vision...

Only now the vision has become obvious, and as with many obvious things in life, they are often misinterpreted and even taken for granted, or worse dissociated with the original person who had that vision...

Know your sources buddy ;)

GT6 was missing some great things?

Tell me more about your countless hours playing GT6.

Are you stupid? Things such as car damages, car sounds, selection of cars, customizations, etc. are what have been announced by PD.
You don't need to play the game to know whether if they are going to be implemented or not.

Forza for starters, which is not arcadey, contrary to popular belief.

Oh come on I've played forza the physics behind that are no way realistic in the slightest, yes it looks good and looks more realistic but not when it comes to driving the car.

No.
Even though I'm a die hard fan of GT I can recognize is not even close to be the best driving game EVER, the game misses a lot to be the best, I mean, the game barely got a proper damage mode, car sounds, competitive AI, in deep customization, car variety instead of duplicates everywhere.
I agree. I think GT6 will be a great racing simulation game, but has a long way to go to be the best simulation racing game on a console. As many of us have said, Kaz needs to quit focusing on quantity (1,000+ cars with many duplicates and 80% standards) and start focusing more on quality. Then outsource or hire more employees. He just gets overwhelemed and doesn't have the time to finish his games anymore. All we can do is hope that some day Kaz will truly sit down and listen to the community. Maybe that will happen with GT7 on the PS4. He is a great game designer with a wonderful vision for the GT series. Just cant quite hit the right goals.

Oh now we're getting personal, I see.

I'd like to answer with no, for your information.

Now, is being the best in a class of one even worth mentioning? C'mon man. I'll bet the farm that 85% of GT players would prefer that old tagline vanish. We want to do what PD shows the cars doing in every trailer...

That line (the driving simulator bit) has bugged me for some time. I can't decide if it's purely an attempt at a catchy tagline or if it really hints at Kaz's main goal - ie to make as many detailed cars as possible that drive realistically even if it's at the expense of better racing. The abandonment of practice and qualifying, the weak AI, and the lack of good in-race timing/scoring (no split times on the car directly in front/behind you) all support this but who knows what Kaz has in mind down the road.

I hope to see improvements on a host of things in GT6 that will hopefully lay the groundwork for making GT7 the best racing simulator ever. The GT series is legendary in my eyes because it tries to bring simulation to consoles and therefore the masses when that has typically been reserved for PCs, and it has succeeded in doing so.

A. This post is abusive.
B. You do need to actually play a game before you know what all it's features are so you're wrong and abusive.

This isn't the right place for this sort of discussion, so I won't bother.

Forza wheel support is kind of ... outdated. Have they improved it?

Sadly, no.

I've always loved each instalment in the series for the unique things they brought to the table
GT1 was... well, the beginning, and is important for that reason alone, though I missed it when it was new
GT2 (my first GT) brought so many cars and tracks to use, great music, and plenty of races
GT3 brought smoother graphics and physics, and while it had less content, everything was meaningful and worked well
GT4 brought once again unbelievable graphics and physics for the PS2, boatloads of content and the slickest UI and music combination I've ever seen
GT5 was so incredibly broad in scope that it could never hope to present every aspect of itself with great depth, there were 1000 cars, though most were PSP imports, there were almost enough tracks, though many of our favourites had been removed, and while it couldn't reach the consistent quality that earlier GTs had, partially through unusual and seemingly pointless additions (XP, underused special events) it provided me and others with many memorable experiences.
here's hope that GT6 will improve on the lacking areas of GT5 and be a great return to form, best driving game ever? Sure, it's got the moon, why not?
