The Lion's Den - California Now Released

Great review Driver32503/GTP_Tzayad, very interesting and good to read. When I was in testing the 5spd worked better for me, I'll have another look though, thanks for the tip.👍
That sounds like my car alright, repeatable times and still very effectively fast. If you have a request car for me to tune at all, feel free to do so.:)

I feel compelled to respond to nd 4 holden spd's concern about the perceived success of his tunes. Short story, the lion continues to roar!

I want to thank the tuning community (and GTP posters) for their work in keeping this community vibrant. Were it not for the tunes provided by Dragonistic, NLxArosa, Ravenmaven, 888 Tuning, nd 4 holden spd and others, I would not have tried many of the cars in GT5P. 👍

I also believe their tunes have helped to enhance my GT5P driving skills.

On to the TLD Ford GT LM Spec IV HSR Edition... Using a controller, I've typically found this car to be extraordinarily twitchy. The result has been that I've avoided this car, in favour others that are more "forgiving".

Until the HSR tune from Holden... I decided to give the car another try.

With this tune, the car accelerates quickly and smoothly (for me the gearing is spot on), and reaches a remarkable top speed. I've hit more than 310 km/hr on the front straight, assuming I can come onto the straight smoothly.

The GTLM is able to maintain high speeds through the turns (assuming the curves are smoothly taken), and braking is remarkably fast. And the tune seems to be more forgiving of lesser driving skills. Nevertheless, it is still true that smooth driving will be rewarded with lower lap times.

Most importantly for me is that with this tune I can produce lap times below those I can achieve with any other car. In my first complete lap I managed a 1.04.2X. However, I clearly need more laps with this car to reproduce those lap times consistently.

Until then, I will continue to favour two other cars - the Amuse S2000 and the Tuned 'Vette - also tuned by nd 4 holden spd!

So, thanks again for all your tunes, and please keep it up!

Good psot, and thankyou very much for the compliments on behalf of the tuning community here.:) It seems that my GT LM is currently the easiest to drive, yet also quite fast, and this is my exact tuning philosophy. I shall need to update the S2000 as it hasn't been driven since before the August 1st update and I'm sure I can make it much faster yet with a setup suiting the new and improved physics. Thanks again for the support and review.👍

Notice
The Lion's Den could use some drivers in the upcoming Garage Showdown 4. Just head over to the GT5:P Race Events forum to sign, you do not need to be fast at all, just happy to drive my GT LM at HSR.:)

Not willingly it isn't, we'll see what happens.:grumpy:

Edit: OK, things look to be OK for now.:)

As for the tuning, it may not be until next weekend I can resume updating tunes guys, and for that I am eternally sorry, but until I get good at this wheel, enough so to be able to push a car on its limits and recognise the faults in the handling, there's not much point in looking at anything.

I just tested your TLD Ford GT LM Spec II, 750 PP and I must say that it's absolutely outstanding.

IMO it's the best handling Ford GT out there by a mile and the gear ratios are well suited for Suzuka too.

Thank you very much for this tune and keep the good work.

decided to copy yourself and practice with the beemer in arcade no aids, thought it was about time i learnt to drive, instead of pretending i could drive

So you are just learning with a wheel now, or have been using driver aids up until now? I'll keep an eye on your times in the leaderboard, it's easy as pie to make the Top 100 (could probably do it with a spin).

Edit: Oh yeah, I did get an infraction over what I was worried about, which means I'm on 20 points and hate the moderators again. I don't know how many points you get, but you can safely assume I'm not afraid to use them.

No had a wheel for a while but used several aids to make me look a little better, now they are off

Please explain points/infractions, you lost me here

He got into an argument in another thread and has had a chat with the moderators.

Description: The Lion's Den's entry into the Togue 500 class of the Togue Challenge, the Mazda 6-500T (stands for 500 PP Tougue) MPS (as the Atenza MPS is known in the Australian market). Little known to most The Lion's Den, under the former name Aussie Tuners, has been quite successful in Tougue challenges of the past, and we've gone on the same philosophy of proven success here. Most people will be running small and agile FWD cars for the 500 class, which is all well and good for a high speed track, at low speeds though the longer wheelbase FWD'ers have more stability, traction and are generally smoother to drive. Does that mean we haven't worked to make it better? Hell no! Applying some special Tougue parts from TLD's catalogue to cope with the high stress of high rpm in Tougue, and new fully adjustable suspension gear, including soft dampers to absorb the bumps of Tougue tracks, the car works in perfect harmony with the 5spd tuned gearbox to create some awesome Tougue drives, one we hope will take the podium for some time to come in the 500 class.

Tuner's Notes: A new section to TLD, Tuner's Notes might help explain some parts of the tune a little better.
Soft dampers absorb the bumps of the Tougue tracks, wheel users will be thankful.
High max turn angle means less effort for the driver to extract serious go.
If you drive auto, the car will pop into unwanted high gears at some corners for a fraction of a second, car best experienced with manual.
Low camber levels ensure that traction is never left wanting.
Big rear toe value makes for a nice and pointy car on the twisty tougue track.

I'm honestly surprised you didn't add these a few weeks ago; Tuned Vette and Amuse S2000 for HSR 800.

I've been using the T-Vette 600 (STD) set up on HSR 800 for some time now, obviously playing with power/weight ratios. It's a VERY stable set up. There are a lot of people running the Amuse now and the Vette is not quite as competitive.

Someone had posted an 800 for the Vette and it's too twitchy in the rear end for my liking.

I wasn't that fussed with HSR 800, or Tuned cars at all at the moment. If you'll do a review for me I'll make an 800 HSR Corvette/Tuned for you.
Another reason was I was limiting my tuning while I got used to the wheel I got a week or 2 ago.

Hi,

After a long defection from GT5P to Metal Gear Online, last night I decided to pry the MGO disc from the PS3 and throw on GT.

After checking the tuning section, I saw your tune for the Jaguar XK Coupe.

I love this car!

After a few laps around the HSR with your settings, I love it even more.
This thing is a beast - hands down one of the most enjoyable cars to drive. I don't know how you did it, but you really hit the mark with this one.

Top end speed is OK, but the handling under brakes was most impressive, given the size of this thing.

Top job all round.

Any chance of a TLD DB9??

👍 Thanks, that's good to hear.:D Any particular PP and track you'd like the DB9 tuned for?

Wow - quick reply!

Well, if you have the time, a maxed out DB9 would be great.

No PP restrictions, and maybe to run on Suzuka, as that's hands down the best track on the game thus far.

I rarely race online as I have the Japanese version, so when I'm on, they're mostly in bed!!!

Thanks very much.

I guess that means R3 tyres as well, I'll start tomorrow night. (Playing basketball tonight).

Sure I'd be glad to opine. It won't be a 500 word dissertation, but I'll give details on what I feel.

The old 600 T-Vette is a great setup, incredibly stable. I'm running on R2's instead of 3's, keeping weight to a minimum and aero nearly (on the rear) maxed. I can beat some racers on a consistent basis, but other more skilled racers and tuners are killing me in GTLM's and the Amuse. I fear if I go to R1's, I'll lose the stability and ability to push if needed. Going to S3's would be too much of a sacrifice of handling.

Yes please - a fully souped up aston martin.

I'll be the james bond of suzuka!

Cheers.

I've started, but it may take a little while, it's so damn good already as standard.:dopey: I have the gears tuned, so the suspension is to come next.

Alright then, an 800 PP Corvette for you for HSR.:) I hope you don't mind if it gets done on the weekend.:scared:

It seems the ideal mode for "testing" and set up is the "free run" at the online race itself. People are running 1'03.xxx and I'm in the low 1'05, high 1'04. The biggest problem area for me is the last turn coming onto the front straight. The car pushes up the hill after braking. The max speed I can go through the middle is 110 MPH. Riding the high line to carry momentum is very difficult without hip checking the guard rail.

Speed down the straight can be an issue too. Some people [outside the draft] are pulling away when I'm outside their draft. These are not people that are using garbage tires and high power, they are dialed in with their set ups.

I don't want to just throw a whole bunch of weight in it the boost power, handling would suffer.

As for the Amuse, I used it the other night with only tweaking power/weight/R2 tires/aero and the tranny to top around 195, I was running low 4's consistently.

Vette and S2K should run 1:03's easy (online and offline)
I suggest using the brake line to start off It really works. I usually get podiums unless something unexpected comes up.

Last corner brake to 110 and power out and exit is around 130 for S2K and Vette. Vette has accelation advantage while S2K has the corners.

I prefere the S2K over Vette. Its faster for me without aids.

Thanks for the setups for HSR 👍
Keep it up ;)

Which TLD set up for HSR are you using in the Vette?

Yeah, I usually do brake into the turn and then roll down to 110 and then get back on it hoping to not have to lift a bit on exit as I go out wide.

I do use the driving line, it's a great addition to the game. For the last turn, the driving line suggests a low apex, but when I do run down there, I scrub more speed than I'd like to. With the 800 (and other PP) Standard race (previous online event), riding the rumble strips in the high line, it launched me out of the turn.

Holden, I didn't notice it the other day, but you have a set up for the Amuse already.

BTW...a buddy of mine had an 06 GTO and.....he wrecked it on a rainy day :( At least I can say I got to drive it (last Thanksgiving).

I haven't tested anything there except for the GT LM, which I have run high 1'02s in, but normally a low 1'03. I'll do my best for the Corvette, I can't have a car with a sattelite on the back beating it.:sly:

these tunings are the best, love using your blitz tune

👍 I never updated the Blitz since the update, but if it's working for you..... :)

Sorry to hear about the GTO, I heard that they changed the suspension setup for the US and it wasn't as good as the Monaro. Still a cool car.

I can't say I ever use the racing line, it's sometimes better to develop your own driving style and gain a good knowledge of racing line. That Amuse setup was for Suzuka and still hasn't been updated. Ever since getting the G25 wheel I still haven't gained enough experience to tune at Suzuka with Race tyres, but I'm just starting now, it's a process.;)
