I have found that there are some very very real characteristics when comparing the lotus 51 to my fv, but perhaps the biggest difference is how you catch the car and maintain the slip angle. Much more difficult to do in PCARS due to the lack of 'through the arse' feeling.
Ha, through the arse...

Robbie, does your FV use a clutch? Or is it sequential?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just set up an open lobby race with the Lotus, ran a race with four other clean guys, and I now know why Robbie races his little car. HOW FUN!!! We are going to have a blast Monday night. This car is all about momentum through the corners... but not too much... or you'll end up in the weeds!

For those of you wussies that don't use cockpit or helmet cam, this is a perfect week to give it a try. And for the rest of you EXTREME wussies that have a third pedal (the one on the left) that never gets touched... this is also a GREAT week to earn your man card.:lol::lol:

Microphone dropped.

Always use a clutch. Sometimes you can get the upshift to go so fast and smooth you hardly need to press the pedal, but if you get it wrong say goodbye to the brass syncro rings

Votes were 9-5 in favour of the Lotus Type 51

But I don't get how it burned when the chassis, what's left of it rather, shows no sign of major deformation. Oh right, it's Italian, my mind slipped for a second.
We just saw a burned out SUV this weekend. No deformation either, it looked like a brand new empty, unpainted body/chassis. A little bizarre because usually there's at least scorch marks.

In my Club Ford, i could shift without the clutch, but it was more novelty since I didn't know about left-foot braking. In PCars I can shift the Lotus 72 and 78 without a clutch, but in the 51 it only works cleanly about half the time. I think it's really neat that the game has that kind of detail.
Monday is going to be great!

The Hewland MK9 boxes were dog ring transmissions so you could shift without a clutch both up and down. Lots of guys will tell you you cannot down shift without a clutch, but that's because they haven't figured it out themselves and they're hiding their lack of skill ;). two weeks from now I'm going to try my very first run in a formula Ford. A 1989 VanDiemen RF 91which has a Hewland LD 200 gearbox where you can for sure upshift and it downshifts without a clutch. I'm very excited to try it and even more excited to set the lap record in it

Thought I'd post this as a primer for tomorrow night. Not the same car we will be driving but the same era and it's just cool. And will be interesting for you guys that were just at Mosport.
I was there for this race, just wish I could remember, it was the first race my dad took us to after we moved to Canada, my only recollection was the noise!

Very cool video.👍

Usually I look forward to the surprise of the week's track, but I'd love to run some practice laps this week. I guess I'll have to practice all the tracks tonight.

There was a shot of some little nipper with a finger up his nose. Was that you? I got a kick seeing the stewards right beside the track in the open...... Trucker would have killed them all.
GR8......you Have raced at this track before, so Shut up Colts.
I hope Alex leaves his meds alone tomorrow.
I'm gonna stick like glue to Sam and GR8, more airtime.
Aerobob was slllllooooowwwwww practicing......the car, not the track, we wouldn't do that.......wink wink. I couldn't put a good lap in anywhere we went waiting for him to catch up almost every corner. Shoulda heard the excuses, unbelievable.

What do you guys prefer, 3-30 or 4-20 minute races?

That's a tough one. 30 minutes in the dry weather, less in the rain? Actually, rain doesn't usually bother me. But I couldn't manage to keep that Mercedes on the wet track last week.

Soo, my vote, 3-30.

A few more highlights:

Week 16 GinettaG40 @ Oschersleben

Fun battle here. The following lap I had no idea Mexi was along side me until T1. Scared the crap outta me. Later in the lap I biffed it in one of the turns, something I did a lot on that track.

Week 17 Radicals @ Mojave

Last minute of R1. Good finish with Bear

R2 mayhem

Heres the part where Mike gave me 2nd place during the last lap

In typical Canadia fashion, Aero gives me 2nd place during the last lap of R4. Thanks BOB's!

https://youtu.be/OveDE_4A2qs?t=1h47m1s

Final race. I smack the tunnel entrance head on. Luckily Mike and Eh get through it some what smoothly and keep it pointed forwards.

https://youtu.be/OveDE_4A2qs?t=1h49m2s

A few laps later Juggs and Aero get tangled up in the tunnel. I'm lucky enough to squeeze through while Mike and Eh arent so lucky.

Week 18 Audi @ Silverstone

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=35m29s

I had a really rough week at Silverstone. R1 I didnt calculate for enough fuel and thought if I coasted the last 2 laps I could make it. Decided to pit at the last second, which means I spent all that time coasting for nothing.

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=37m26s

I go into the pits 3rd and come out 5th behind Aero. A last lap battle for 4th place turns into me finishing in 9th.

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=56m42s

R2 start Tom goes wide and our cars get stuck together like magnets.

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=1h12m10s

During our mandatory pit stop I decide to go no tires. 1st place, nice!

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=1h21m31s

A few mins later...no tires! derp!

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=1h24m11s

I continued to spin it almost everytime through that turn. No matter how much I slowed down

https://youtu.be/x9Wx4Hetiu0?t=2h19m20s

The night was salvaged with some good racing with Bear the last few laps.

Week 19 BMW/Merc @ Monza
Also had a rough week last week..

https://youtu.be/M4aXWD5_m-I?t=39m12s

During R2 warmup we had to deal with 2 obstacles, 2 Bob's in the chicane.

https://youtu.be/M4aXWD5_m-I?t=45m16s

R2 start. Yep..not one of our better ones. I didnt think we were ever going to start

https://youtu.be/M4aXWD5_m-I?t=49m57s

Mike swoops in for 4th after I lose momentum in T1

https://youtu.be/M4aXWD5_m-I?t=52m44s

A few laps later...

https://youtu.be/M4aXWD5_m-I?t=1h3m39s

And this one really chapped my a$$. Out of nowhere my car goes from 4th to 2nd gear, and I know I didnt hit down gear twice. This happens to me once in a while, and I think its a random occurrence for controller users with certain cars. Just another reason to upgrade to a wheel when I can.

Thats it for now. Catch you guys tomorrow!

Quit messing with the schedule Lobban, 3-30's. I gotta do all the reverse griding and scoring! There, you've been told :D

Back to regular format tonight. Mandatory pitstop. Max fuel to start will be 10 liters. This will get you half way, you can start with less if you want.

Below are the ranking's after last week. We will do a rolling start again in race 1 like last week. I think we will keep the delayed start to only 15 sec's this week as it is very hard to catch up with this car. Race 2 & 3 reverse grid as usually, no delays.
If someone missed last week and is wondering about the new process to Race#1 start, it is explained in Report #1.

One of the things we don't mind in our Lounge is the fun banter that goes on, but last week was over the top so lets try to keep it toned down a bit more this week. Also, please keep quite when I'm reading the reverse order grid. Thanks guys.

Ok, you just weren't clear on the hard wire or not before. I used to run with an avg of 3-4 Mbps and rarely had any lag. Now I am getting consistent 9-10Mbps after an upgrade and everything rocks! I think you should still try running a new cable before they upgrade, then you will know if it was a problem with the cable or not. The cables are usually pretty hardy but can get damaged. I had to replace one of mine after pulling it through the back wall of my shop and I didn't notice a small tear in it from something sharp. The signal kept dropping but luckily I found the problem quickly. I have a 200 ft cable going from the modem in the house, running outside underground to a switch in the main shop. Then a 100 ft cable running to another switch in my man cave in the back and then a 20 ft cable to my PS4.
Have fun racing tonight... had a great race Sunday in the pits lobby, for some reason I had zero lag?.. stayed out of trouble, drove around it.. led the first race for about 10 laps...was running a solid 3rd...then my pit crew struck!...

We will miss you tonight Bear. I hope you get your issues fixed soon.

Jeez, What a BOB Aeroburger is today. I have to agree, tho, last week was loud............no drugs tonight........except for me of course. No swearing, no drinking, no dirty jokes, no playing with yourself Colts, no laughing, no biting, no whining GR8, no bitching Alex. We don't want to rile up the other Grand Pooba.

I just looked for a tune for this car on the eu site. 1stinkin tune, that's it. It's one of the few cars that is really good stock, just set your tire pressures all the way up to the top. No, really, the stock tune is great. I always lower my pressure, this car no different.

Obviously, count me in! I'll try and e the mic out tonight but if there's too much background noise I'll shut er down and listen instead. Also, I've never figured out how to use the pit function in pcars. Every time I try to pit in free practice it spits me out without doing anything. Any tips for a newb?

Excellent night of racing. Winning is fun, but tonight was all about battles for me. I couldn't have cared less about where I finished. Just too fun trading places and going through corners side by side. Fun, fun, fun!

@RobbiefromBC sorry about the contact on the final lap. I was trying to stay on the lead lap, that was my goal for the race after getting flipped for a whole lap on lap 1.

@Xradkins I'm sorry for the contact on the last lap in race 2 however Robbie and I came up from behind battling for position and everyone previous had pulled over and slowed down while being lapped and I was expecting the same.

No hard feelings, was pretty funny coming around after lap 1 and seeing you shiny side up

Fun night... and great cars! When I think of close racing, a Classic Lotus is not exactly the first car to come to mind.

Thanks as always fellas, until next time.

Also @Gr8_Lakes and @Mike Lobban I saved that replay just to watch that pass over and over and over, and over and over again ;) that was a fun bit of racing there, especially seeing you guys battling it out!
Help me out a little bit, or rather, help me help you. When did that happen? (Which race, which lap, time stamp, etc.) I hate to admit it, but these nights are usually all a blur after they're finished. :ill::lol: I'll make a video clip of it. Because it was a pretty darn sweet move!

In fact, I've seen several nice moves over the past couple weeks. There's some great corner trust getting established, which is lending itself to some awesome racing. We need to keep that trust going, especially with the new Project Cars 2 coming out. It's so cool that we already have an established crew to boost our online driver ratings. The new driver rating is something I'm really looking forward to, and if we race with each other regularly for the first several weeks, we shouldn't ever have to join a public lobby with wreckers again (fingers crossed it works). So, thanks again guys. This is truly becoming a great network of clean, fast racers. 👍
