ATTENTION:

As of today, the Mazda MX-5 Cup has been jointly taken over by Myself and EDK. As a result, EDK is now the newest member on the administraition panel and as the end result of us both taken it over, this series is now officially under the GTMSA Jurisdiction and as such, has been changed drammatically to due so. Here are some of the changes for those interested:

To start, the information regarding each and every session has been revamped for better understanding:

The TSF or Time Submission Format has been redesigned for a clearer and easier way of time submission:

And of course, no GTMSA sanctioned series is left without the standard rules and regulations:

For those who are interested, There will be a future sign-up thread revised for the competitors to get a better idea for the surroundings and the rules administered. The thread will require you to sign up in this format:

We at the GTMSA hope you'll enjoy the new MX-5 cup in a better way.

Kevin, Camyron

Thanks for the gr8 effort and time you spend arranging and gathering results for this series....and keeping it alive :dopey:

It's nice to race with you guys:crazy:

Well guys, I may be going on online quite soon as I'm getting a PS3 on monday. Hopefully, tbhis doesn't fall through the crack like it has the last two times and since I'm getting it from Aarons, the same place I got my Laptop Brand New, I trust them very much.

The Call of Destiny

It has confirmed that reigning FGT champ RACECAR will be doing test drive for F1 Championship Contenders Mclaren Mercedes. This has long been rumour ever since he won the FGT title last season but had died due to no conclusive proof. RACECAR confirmed in an interview earlier after retuning from a race at Tsukaba Circuit. "On thursday I got a call at about 5:48 and it was quite possibly the best call I answered." He said. "I was amazed that they had everything ready for me and with of all people Ron Dennis calling me up for a team like Mclaren, I would be a huge fool not to take this oppertunity" Its been confirmed a Scheduled two-day test for him At Suzuka.

FGT champ to debut on Friday
Mclaren Mercedes Test this week

After a long time with no announcement regarding date, It was finally revealed. RACECAR made the announcement this morning that the Test drive he'll take part in for Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes will commence friday after Christmas. "I had decided to kind of keep from announcing a date to avoid conflicts with the testing going on for the 2009 season with the new regulations. I called ron last week to ask if the 26th was good and he told me it was perfect". RACECAR said that it has been a long time coming and he is very excited about his new challenge. "For a very long time, I've always wanted to drive a F1 car but never was able to. The Formula GT was at that point in time the first and closest thing I could ever get to a F1 and now, this'll truly be the real thing."

Racerworkz to downsize Nationwide effort
Team will field one car

The economy has been a on a downhill slide that appears to be never ending. Car companies asking the local goverment for money while some teams either merge or shut down. With all thiis going on around, Racerworkz will be downsizing its Nationwide effort. The team will focus primerily on one car and may run more then one with two for some races and possibly four for only two races. The sponsors originally announced for the four car effort will now be rotated throughout the year. Thier craftsman truck effort will not be affected by this change and will continue to be run, with a search still going on for a driver.

Been a while and looks like no one is still using this thread, oh well:

Jackson dominates Truck and Nationwide
Starts off both championships in winning fashion

Jackson kicked off his 2009 championship season in style as he swept both the truck race and a day later the nationwide race. "I've never had the heart attack I did in those last two laps" Jackson said, reffering to the Truck race. "The fuel was pretty much on fumes and I had the fords of Braun and Darnell closing in on me." Luckily, the fuel made it as jackson crossed the line only 00.2 seconds ahead of the 99 Ford. The Nationwide race was just as exciting despite fuel not being a factor to the finish. "All that Hard work I did to keep the second place car far away from me diminished so I was looking in my mirrors for the entire time. Those last four laps felt like forever" Earnhardt jr had gotten the lap back and was now on Jackson's bumper for the rest of the race. Eventually, Jr went to the outside trying to pass Jackson coming out of turn 4 and just when it seemed Jr was the victor, Jackson suddenly got momentum and crossed the line in a finish remniscent of the 2007 Daytona 500. "I'm very proud of my guys here today. The Truck crew was basically all the crew from Connor's shop. They had no jobs five weeks ago so I brought them all to my shop and they haven't lost that Championship spirit I saw when I drove for Conner last year. hats to them all"

Racerworkz takes Delivery of Lamborghini
Team finally Recieves GT1 machine

While Jackson Celebrated his wins at daytona, His shop had received the Murcielago from Reiter Engineering. The car was then rolled into the massive garage in the Racerworkz headquarters where all of the teams cars from various series are kept while the season goes. C

ATTENTION everyone involved with GTMSA!

Maybe you didn't realize it before, but you act just like absolutely every regulating body to enter real world motorsport. If someone gets a technical advantage, the ACO or in this case the GTMSA rush in with their ballast and air restrictors and all that stuff to make sure all cars are exactly the same - or just to slow all cars for no particular reason whatsoever!

Heck, if someone is obviously more skilled you nerf his car!

Please, can't you run at least one series where the differences between cars can come out more, without suffering from any nerfs, universal or otherwise?

-White & Nerdy

P.S. Don't tell me to "get my own race" because I'm going to Seattle tomorrow and I won't be back until the 27th (not sometime in August as I mistakenly told another user). I happily will "get my own race" when I get back, unless something not nanomanaged is starting at the time.

And if this is against the rules, as most everything is on these forums (no offense mods), well I tried to avoid personal attacks so... yeah.

(In case you're wondering why all my threads get locked, it's because the mods will lock anything that has been done before, even something that's been done months or years ago and hasn't been posted in for almost as long.)

The problem with your idea is that everyone will end up choosing the same car, or if not, leave the series part way through because they're in the wrong car/ the same driver wins every round. The weight penalties are there to make the racing interesting (and i dont think the fastest drivers mind the challenge the weight penalties pose). Anyways, as you say you can start a series with no penalties if you like and GTMSA currently only runs 2 events all year.

Not necesarrily. There is the chance someone will research the fastest car, then shoot himslef in the foot by telling everyone, but that could be grounds for disqualification.

Weight penalties... interesting racing... ??? Now it's not even a test of skill. I'd be willing to bet people throw "strategic" races so they don't have to worry about your ballast haunting them in more important things - the last race, for example.

I would bet that most people will research the cars before entering.

Actually it's more a test of skill as the cars obviously don't perform quite as well, and certainly in the current GTPLMS i don't think there have been any races thrown - racers just want the best results they can get and will fight through the penalties.

Weight penalties don't make sense in all series, e.g. if everyone was in the same car and track types were very different then the drives would be tested over lots of conditions and penalties would be meaningless. In my opinion though, where all the tracks are 'true' race tracks some sort of handicap system is needed to keep the championship interesting (regardless of keeping different cars in the same ranges lap time wise).

Andy

They might reaseach the cars, but if they're smart, they won't tell everyone - and I'm betting most people won't go much farther than looking up the power/weight ratio online, which doesn't mean everything. N33bs and people running for fun may just pick a favorite from the list of elligible cars.

And I find I hard to believe that people wouldn't throw mid-late season races so they aren't fighting nerfs in the final race.

I don't know, i don't think it's been happening but yes it is a risk.

You may be pleased to hear that i'm in the process of planning a series that wont involve any penalties (its a one car series on vastly different tracks) but it wont be surfacing until the end of GTPLMS at least, maybe later as i could do with a bit of a breather!

Anyways, it's clear we have different opinions on this which is cool. Good luck with any series you do decide to run.

In case you haven't noticed, its to equalize the field and as Abud said, keep the racing interesting. We aren't "slowing cars down for no reason" as you seem to insist. If we run a series were someone with a advantage wins every week, then we don't have a series anymore, we have frustraited people quitting. Also, you seem to be the only one who has a problem with the series equalizing the field as well yourself not even competing in any of our series so who are you to tell us how to run a series?

I have a feeling that most of the drivers in the recent GTPLMS series did their own research. I know this for a fact that after reading the posts from the various drivers about the characteristics of the car they were driving. Abud, east and Austin343 were frequently commenting on the handling of their cars.

I probably was one of the few who did not research the cars. I picked them for different reasons.

Wt. penalties helped equalize the different levels of drivers. In the GTPLMS it made racing competitive for everyone. The top 3-4 drivers in each class were racing against each other. The only way I could have run with them was if they were in vastly inferior cars. But it did help/handicap me with the other drivers who were similar in ability to make it interesting for 5th place and beyond.

Mods usually locks threads because the info is avail. elsewhere.

There are plenty of races for you to run in. How long have you been back from SF? GSX is on. DTM is forming. Austin343 is taking interest. And SuperGT is on the horizon. Heck, Tourist Trophy is running now. Jump over to the tuners section and show your mettle. Pick a race or do your own. You’ve been back for almost a month and I don’t see any of your race threads. I'm sure the drivers would welcome you to the races.

It's all up to you.

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!

Looooooong time no speak!

I know it's been a while, but I'm seriously considering getting the wheel connected back up to the desk and doing some racing again.
Grace is now 18 months and moving into her own room very shortly, so the noise of the DFP isn't gonna disturb her beauty sleep (not that she needs much! )

Look for me on here more and more over the next couple of weeks or so, and once the decorating is done and she's moved to her room, start watching for the old dude getting bigger in tho's rear views!

Glad to see some of the regulars still on-board the LRS forum (Eracer & racecar notably), but sad some have gone by the wayside (Dreww22, ICallShotgun and oldphart to name a few)

See you guys soon!

Great to see you back again :), i'd love to get some racing in against the Tyre King (seeing as i'm a Tyre Wrecking King:dunce:).

SuperGT Update

This seasons SuperGT is progressing along nicely with a probable 7 round track list drawn up and the rules now finalised. Work has begun on setting up the GT500 cars, and with the help of oldmodelt hopefully things will be as well balanced as this years GTPLMS was. Look out for the sign-up thread at the beginning of October

Yeah I did get it and I think I replied.
Who can tell, Sony........ptssss!

All I can say is that I have had to devote most of my energy to the family, and have had precious little left for any kind of fun.:boggled:
Those that say having a family later in life is fantastic and the best thing they ever did are only half right! Fantastic isn't the word.......exhausting is the right word!
Having kids is either for the young or the rich that can afford a nanny. :guilty:
Why the guilty? Not either and wish I was both.:ill:

Anyway, life goes on. Still looking after Foster kids for a 'living' ( ), and still playing games to get rid of the stress. So, I will be back!
Maybe not quite as religiously as before, but I will be back.

Neil

Hey everyone :)

Just asking if anyone has an M5 here, what's your guys fastest time??? And I got 6'04.017... Any idea on how to make it faster??? I recently tried a couple of method and there's a potential that the car can go below than 6'03 seconds... But how guys??? need advice :) I also made lots of mistakes during my hot lap that could cost some 5 tenths or so...

Thanks,
Haziq/Kidrauhl...

Times can be compared in the spot races threads I think. Don't know which track you are referring. I'm guessing Nurburgring? Try a search.

Hey there guys, been a while given my busy schedule, but I'm pretty much back now. My first venture is into the role of creating a new series. Here's a pic from the first Car & Tire test earlier this week at Charlotte:

NBSTesting1.jpg

The next upcoming test will be at Daytona. Many teams are expected to show up with their brand new cars in preperation for the soon to be run Nascar Budweiser Series. They will be testing a modified version of the restrictor plates from the Cup series as well as a new tire compound. More to come as the season unfolds.

NASCAR Comes to GTMSA
RACECAR announces a new series for America's favorite sport

gtplanetNascarWorldSeriesLogo-1.jpg
Earlier today in the press center at Daytona International Speedway before the race festivities, RACECAR announced a new series that for the first time sees a collaboration between the GTMSA and NASCAR. The end result is the GTplanet NASCAR World Series, the first ever Stock Car racing championship ever introduced by the GTMSA. RACECAR expressed great pleasure in this new endeavor. "Its been a great time putting this entire deal together. Was quite a surprise when NASCAR called me up back in late June last year and asked me if I wanted to put this deal together and ever since, we've been hard at work assembling all the pieces to make it work." While a race schedule has not been formally announced, RACECAR was quick to point out that he aims to have a 36 race schedule and a three day test session is set to take place mid January at Daytona after its repaving with he himself behind the wheel.

that's awesome. I wonder if at least some of the races will be televised. Or if NASCAR will have a link on their website...and maybe standings. And with only 2 maybe 3 ovals announced so far, it should be really fun
