GTMSA to include a new member
RACECAR welcomes Chadwickracing to the panel

In the midst of the collaboration on the recently announced GTplanet NASCAR World Series, RACECAR has found a new worthy member to include in the cabinet as he has recently announced Chadwickracing to be part of the GTMSA panel. "His management skills and know how have really caught my attention have really caught my attention. When we started talking about the series and exchanging ideas, I felt right then he would make a excellent addition to the team".

It makes me wonder if Sony will be a presenting sponsor of the GTPNWS. :D

Oh I'm sure NASCAR will provide some swag or something as prizes. But I doubt any real money would be involved. I was just being silly. :P
I know, but one can dream. Right? ;)

Round 5 - Special Stage Route 5
Round 6 - Suzuka
Round 7 - Fuji
Round 8 - Motegi

*SPR 1 - Nurburgring

Formula GT Set to make comeback

After a long four year absence, RACECAR announced that Formula GT will return in 2011. "I'm very excited to be bringing back this great series" said the 3-time Champion. "With the new addition of several popular tracks and some major tweaks to the car, I can finally make the series much more grand prix relevent" The series will go from its past 7 round schedule to 10 rounds. Qualifying will utilize the current knock-out qualifying format seen in Formula 1 and will also adapt the Grand Prix race distances with fuel and Tires changes permitted for the time being. The cars will now for the first time have multiple tire compounds to choose from and thanks to a new deal with Renault, will have brand new engines. "I've been able to attend one of the tests that were held and they are truly something to be heard" Said RACECAR. "They truly sound like Grand Prix Cars now" The tentative schedule has also been released:

Code:
Round 1 Repsol Grand Prix of Spain Valencia
Round 2 Martini Grand Prix of Monaco Cote D' Azur
Round 3 Mobil 1 German Grand Prix Hockenheim
Round 4 Mercedes European Grand Prix Nurburgring
Round 5 Red Bull United States Grand Prix Indianapolis
Round 6 Santander Italian Grand Prix Monza
Round 7 Fuji TV Japanese Grand Prix Suzuka
Round 8 Toyota Grand Prix of Fuji Fuji
Round 9 Brembo Grand Prix of Rome Rome
Round 10 Gran Turismo Grand Prix of Madrid Madrid

Alot of big changes can be seen. One noticable one is the addition of Legendary F1 venue Monza as well as two visits for the first time to Spain with the Madrid Street circuit as well as the Circuit De Tormo de Valencia. Italy also gets two with the Rome circuit being added. Another Notible change for the better according to many is the elimination of the Nordschleife, the very circuit which caused many troubles to the competitors, taking the life of a Test driver during one weekend while nearly taking the champ's when a mechanical failure sent his car flying. A final schedule will be made available in December.

Formula GT Testing Underway

picture.php

In one of the first steps towards the return of Formula GT, RACECAR was on hand at Monza in Italy to shakedown the car for the first time in four years. "Felt really good to be back in the car after such a long time" Said RACECAR. "The car for the most part is untouched externally, but its underneith where it really is different". The Formula GT has undergone some massive changes underneith. One particular one that RACECAR was most excited about was the change from the previous 3.0 liter V10 engines to a 3.5 liter V12 engine. "That alone makes a night & day difference. The power is just so much more responsive and its just a bullet down the straightaway. They also sound fantastic." Renault will be supplying these 888 HP engines for all the cars. More tests are scheduled, hopefully with more drivers on hand.

Today I can announce the unveiling of a brand new international championship series exclusive to GTPlanet, the Lexus V8 Championship, a one-make series for the Lexus IS-F RM. Testing of the 490hp, 1185kg sedan has already begun in Japan at both Fuji Speedway and Suzuka Circuit.

Jack Blyde, new to the international racing scene, has taken upon the testing roll with much enthusiasm, "I'm thrilled to be a part of this brand new series and I'm extremely thankful of Lexus for giving me this opportunity". A senior Lexus enginner praised Blyde's efforts, "he has a great understanding of the vehicle, which is vital in the development of a race car". The extensive testing regime is expected to continue in Japan next week, where Blyde will take on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschliefe, "I'm both excited and nervous about next weeks testing. I've never taken on the green hell before but it's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I just hope I can keep it together!"

The Lexus V8 Championship is expected to be open for registration within a months time.

EDIT: No one wanted to join so I am going to try to close the thread. If you want to join and you saw this message after the thread was, just tell me.
Can someone please join my series? I don't have an internet connection and the only way I could race against others is Time Trials. Only my brother and I are in the series. Click the poster to join. Thank you! :)

Daytona goes forward by going backward
New classic event to headline 24 hour race

DaytonaContinentalSign.jpg

As the North American racing season is about to kick off at Daytona Next weekend, Jackson will commenmorate it with the just announced inaugaral gtplanet Daytona Continental, a two race event that features cars from two eras that have graced thier presence at the famous Circuit. "This has been a long time dream of mine and its finally come to life. I think just the allure alone of the cars is already big as well as the track itself, but I think this event will really make a big impression in combination with the two" If the event is a success, Jackson plans to make more of these, in particular one for Nurburgring and Le Mans.

Nice. Can't wait for details on the accepted cars. I always forget the DP cars are pretty young, and before that a lot of the cars the ran in LeMans series also ran in Daytona. It was similar to how the 24 Hours of LeMans works now.

Jackson Takes season opener, first win in the series

After a action filled race, Camyron Jackson would finally take his first GT500 win in the Super GT series at Suzuka. The race was frantic as the Pole Sitter Josh Johnson spun going into 1, leaving the door open for Jackson to take advantage. Jackson would run into some trouble on lap three when his car took a hit that caused some damage to the tire, forcing Jackson to pit laps later and causing him to lose the lead to Javier. Then Jackson would narrow the gap and thanks to a spin at Degner, Jackson caught up and later in the lap would pass for the lead and never look back. "This is so unreal" said Camyron "That was a rare opportunity that happened, I was lucky to take advantage while it was there. The hit to the right rear would add some panic, but I put my head and just focused and the race came back to me. " The next race is this weekend at Tokyo. Newly introduced Success ballast as well as new competitors will certainly added to the drama this weekend as Josh trys to avenge his lost

In the process of getting my ducks in a row for a potential Season 2 of the GTPlanet Clio Cup Series here. With the ability to adjust the HP, I can get the Clio Trophy cars engines to real-life 2011 Clio Cup specs. Sadly(?), reducing the car's weight to the same specs is impossible. Thankfully with the addition of the PP Limiter, those smartypants who have Stage 3 modded Engines will be caught out. ;)

Next thing on the agenda is to look at which tracks to include in the series and include how many rounds to run and in what format(s).

Famous Tracks making a return?
Rumor has been heavy over the past few weeks that certain tracks may see some racing once again. The following have been heavily linked to making possible comebacks:

Code:
Apricot Hill

Infineon Raceway

Twin Ring Motegi

New York

Seattle Circuit

Circuit Valencia De Tormo

Many race fans hope that the rumors are true. with Formula GT making a come back , the gtplanet NASCAR world championship starting soon as well as the possible resurgence of the GTPLMS, this would certainly be a welcome time for them.

Digital Racing Commission (DRC) founded! Begins testing first series!

At long last, I've finally gotten around to starting up the series idea that had been floating around in the back of my head since I first started playing GT5. The one consistent problem I've had was implementing it. With the advent of ballast and power limiters as well as the PP system, I've begun testing on the small collection of vehicles I own.

First and foremost (with much respect to my fellow :gtplanet: members) my goal was to start a racing series that had a long enough list of applicable vehicles that repeat would be at a minimum of 2-4 cars at most. I wanted a series that took multiple paths to get to the same destination and I found it.

However, one series surely wasn't enough as the idea's slowly grew. So I created my sanctioning body (DRC) to oversee several racing series'. Plus, I wanted to create a body of information to help gentleman racers like me to found series' of their own.

DRC combines racers, car collectors and tuners into one spot to get applicable data on all of the cars in GT5 so we can share with others which ones can compete with what, when and where. Hence the "Commission" part of DRC.

We'll aim to extend towards photography for promotional art for others(We'll always have that car you need in your shot) as well as a regulatory body for your series, providing eager yet professional and unbiased race officials to make sure your events run smoothly.

We'll also offer tunes for select popular vehicles that maximize performance while minimizing driver effort.

But lastly and most importantly, we'll be the guys that are online in a private lobby racing for fun against each other, over the various tracks that GT provides. Using GT5 exactly like it was meant to be used.

If you'd like to join DRC, I'd be more than happy to welcome you.

If you have your own idea for a racing series, I'd be more than happy to welcome you.

If you just want to race online against competitive drivers using all of the cars in that 300+ garage of yours... well you get the point: Join DRC!!!

The First Racing Series

Now to introduce the first DRC string of events: Outlaw 500PP

The idea behind this came from popular events that were run before the advent of Performance Points. The formula was simple: 355hp and 1000kg. Events would be a mix of racing and street cars all battling it out in intense door-to-door action (A sample can be seen here.)

The formula really came together when Performance Points became involved. Allowing even closer competition between vehicles. After experiencing several various PP limited events I noticed that there were several different types of racing cars hovering around 500PP. Namely the JGTC/Super GT GT300 cars, WRC/Group A Rally cars and the odd mix of touring and racing cars.

As of today, I've personally tested 23 cars with positive results and even more cars to come!

The cars were flung around Tsukuba and at the end of it all, only 2.6 seconds separated the fastest car (Superautobacs MR-S) from the slowest (C4 WRC It should be noted that the C4 was running low-aero too!)

Below is the list of cars and times tested. All cars were only given one lap to ensure identical times given the conditions, this was also to reduce my personal time spent given the list of vehicles I was driving. The times can and will be much faster with all cars properly tuned (some were running out-of-the-UCD configurations) and tires at operating temperature.

The Superautobacs MR-S and both Weds Sports cars were run twice. The first time with 505PP, the second time with 500PP. Vehicles in italics have a notable performance difference, usually aero related. Still a bunch of cars to test! See you then!

Announcing Endurance races.

I am going to organize a couple of endurance races. First off
2 hours at the mountain!!!!
A classic event from GT3. It will be roadcars like Impreza's, RX-7's, Supras, Evos and old skylines on Trial Mountain. I will test soon and get them to lap the circuit in about 1:36 or 1:37 and set distance to 72 laps.

Second
Passage to the Collosio!!!
Another race from GT3, just this time on a different variation of the Rome Circuit. The cars will be hot hatches like the Clio, the Swift, the Focus and others.

Maybe if Seattle gets put into this game I'll do a 40 lap race in muscle cars on it. Otherwise I may do it on Indy Road.

I might re-introduce the 1,000 miles from GT4, but at half distance so the 500 miles. Tracks will be the same if Opera Paris gets in. If not I'll put in another tight, short track.

Who's interested?

Second round of Outlaw Testing brings more Rally Cars, yields surprising results.

The RS Rally cars hit the track at Tsukuba today, following up yesterday's multi-spec field test. The times set by all of the cars seemed to favor the traditional Competition Spec (CS) touring cars and the wider Super Touring (ST) cars.

As of the second day of testing though, all of that changed. I knew that the RS cars had hidden potential, but the numbers speak for themselves. Despite having minimal aero aid and a 30kg weight penalty compared to the next portliest competitor, the Rally cars took the top times by storm.

This development will lead to further testing with tires at full temperature and cars at full development.
