Their singer Ralf Scheepers' solo material is very good as well. Its pretty much Primal Fear....nearly every member of PF played on it haha.

Shameless plug....

This is my mates band from Sweden. I got the guys on a tour here to Australia with Nightwish, set up the national fan club, toured with them and hosted them at my house for 5 days after a 2 day road trip on the Great Ocean Road.

Easily one of the best things I have ever experienced.

This is Sabaton playing the Polish Woodstock Festival in front of 600,000 people... And yes that number is correct, there aren't any extra zeroes!

The song itself is called 40:1 and is about the German invasion of Poland and the 40,000 German troops that were held for 3 days by less than a thousand Polish soldiers... This song means so much to the Polish people, as you can tell!

Enjoy!

You are friends with Sabaton? How cool!

Yeah dude, they are great guys.

Here is their last night in my house, Chris, Thobbe and Snowy not in pic as they couldn't come. Snowy was in Melb with his wife and Chris and Thobbe had to go back to Sweden immediately to move house.

I am at head of table with my Girlfriend and next to her is our ex housemate then there is Joakim, guitar tech Emil with the peg on his nose, Par, drum tech Jesus (Patrik) and the production manager Johan Bengs (wearing hat) who takes the title of funniest man in history

This night was very drunken... So many stories unfit for public telling

That's 🤬 epic!!!!!

It was a night to remember that's for sure! I am currently in talks with them for a return tour next year and it is looking good so far :D

The best thing about them is there is not a single pretentious one amongst them, not one. They manage their own band, festival and cruise and only have a few drinks when all the work is done. Very professional, very committed and INCREDIBLY respectful of their fans... At a festival last year (I think it was Wacken) they extended their meet and greet with fans to 5 hours because they wanted to meet everyone in the line... And they went to the meet and greet IMMEDIATELY after exiting the stage!

If you ever get the chance to go to a show make sure you do it, in fact they are stateside next month IIRC?

That number is correct indeed. Polish Woodstock is the single most gigantic mass concert in history of this country.

The song is about the battle of Wizna, a.k.a. Polish Thermopylae. Only 720 Poles would fight in it, against 40 thousand Germans. Completely outnumbered, Poles were still able to deal some impressive damage to their enemy.

DE:
42,200 men
350 tanks
657 mortars, guns and howitzers
and aerial support

PL:
Under 720 men
Six 76 mm guns
42 MGs
2 anti-tank rifles

So, Poles pretty much had to fight with toothpicks and not be afraid of tridents.

"No warning they entered the land,
That is protected by Polish hand!"
- has to be my favorite line ever :D

@Heathenpride

That's 🤬 awesome that your friends with Sabaton, I've been listening to those guys for ages. It's funny I was just playing their album Fist for Fight at work today:cheers:.\m/

That is a great album, it certainly doesn't get as much credit because it is older than the more popular albums but it is definitely a winner for me!

@Madertus - Those figures are indeed crazy, the leadership of Władysław Raginis was indeed one major thing that held them together - What a hero.

I switched the video in my earlier post to a slightly longer one that includes the intro referring to Raginis, I couldn't find it earlier!

And now in keeping with the current themes of a) Heavy Metal b) Sabaton and c) WWII Poland I am inclined to drop this video right here... it's from the same festival and is about the uprising of the Warsaw ghetto and is another song that went huge in Poland \m/

Both albums I think are timeless... That 'plunky' bass from Jason... Brings back memories... Man from the time I was tape trading back in the eighties.... This ís one of the few who still are around... Two weeks ago I saw them live in Antwerp(belgium).. Eric A.K. Vocally still ís magnificent... What a great show...
