But seriously, it was amateur hour at the end there. The decision, not having a belt to give - Laurel and Hardy stuff.
Woodley looked like he was going to knock someone out if they had reversed the ring decision an taken his belt
I am really surprised he didn't take the fight to the ground more, especially after he was so successful in Rnd 1.Alvarez skipped the post fight presser, did speak in an interview with FS1. Said he was disappointed that he didn't stick to his game plan and tried to trade with Mystic Mac.
In the presser, Conor said it wanted equity in UFC now, and wouldn't commit to any future fights!
Yeah, I will admit I didn't really follow Woodley that much and didn't know too much about him prior to this card, but after today I'm really starting to like him and follow the guy.

So what are our overall thoughts on the card? Did it live up to the hype or did it bomb like UFC 200 (I highly doubt anyone is gonna say that)?

Great card, but almost too much. 6 hours of prelims and mains is too much, especially considering how weak the 206 card is with Cowboy and Rashad added yesterday. Could have easily put Joanna in 206 I reckon, as a co-main.
This card made 200 look like a bowl of piss though. FOTY between Wonderboy and Woodley and Conor blowing out Eddie is not far behind. 👍
I thought the number of fights was alright, but it was definitely spread over too long of a time period for my liking. Can't really fault any of the faults except maybe Weidman v Romero. But yeah, I enjoyed it and it most definitely left 200 for dead. Onto 206 then a massive 20u card to round out a big year of MMA.
I wasn't really sure what his announcement was. Was it his threat to walk away if he didn't get ownership of the UFC or the fact he has a child due soon.
Hopefully having that kid will humble the man somewhat. Good fighter, but he spews some nonsense more times than not. That is his main drawing power though so without it he'd wouldn't be of much worth...

So the UFC finally grew some brain cells and balls and have finally stripped McGregor of his Featherweight title. Holloway v Pettis at 206 will decide who holds the interim title belt.
EDIT- What a main event for Fight Night Melbourne! Whittaker v Brunson turned it on big time. I loved it. Whittaker got the win with a hard fought 1st round KO and the place erupted. Never seen anything like it. Amazing. Whittaker has to fight Silva or Mousasi next.

Well, in what's been an upside down crazy week in MMA, it's all been capped off with the official formation of the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association consisting of Bjorn Rebney, GSP, Cain Velasquez, Tim Kennedy, TJ Dillashaw and Donald Cerrone. It'll be interesting to see if they can actually make some change and live up to the goals they've set for themselves.
As recapped in my prior post, Conor McGregor was stripped of his Featherweight title, and Jose Aldo was elevated to the Undisputed belt, but Holloway v Pettis at 206 will determine the Interim featherweight title holder, who will then fight Aldo in early 2017.
Rumble also reportedly turned down an interim Light Heavyweight title match with Mousasi at 206 saying that it would be too risky, and he isn't interested in it.
Also, Cruz v Garbrandt has gotten incredibly personal with both Cruz and Garbrandt camps throwing barbs. It all started with Cruz posting a video of Garbrandt being KO'd in some rare fight footage from an event way before his professional career started, tagging it with some trash talking hashtags. Garbrandt's girlfriend returned serve by posting a video of Cruz being choked out by Faber in the WEC back in 2007, which prompted Garbrandt to respond by saying "Haha" then shortly afterwards Cruz replied with the following:
And lastly, McGregor has been granted his boxing license in the state of California fueling more rumours that he looks set to take on Floyd Mayweather in what would arguably be the fight of our generation.
I absolutely despise both of them, but I'd throw my support behind McGregor on the sole fact he's less of a 🤬 and hasn't assaulted his wife.

Yep a crazy week in the UFC for sure... No idea why Aldo accepted the belt back in such a snake like way and posting crap that he is the champ and has always been the champ! ... pffft 👎 I used to respect this guy before he came up with this garbage! Almost a year of Conors mental intimidation tactics and 13 seconds in the ring ended that Era! to accept the belt freely after all the "I will take a dive" and "I'm leaving" comments is just low and makes a mockery of a once great champ 
On a good note: I can't wait to hear an official announcement for Conor v Mayweather which going by heated rumors the last few days and the fact he got his boxing license.. might really happen!! This would be epic and we all want to see how far this guy can really go in the fighting world? 👍
IMO He is a couple of steps away from absolute global fighting dominance if he comes back in 2017 and picks off all the people knocking on his door at this moment in time(Floyd,Khabib,Ferguson,Woodley).. I'm rooting for him anyway as he grows on you the more you see how damn good he is in the octagon
can he do the same in boxing? Not sure... but I think he has a damn good shot at shocking the hell out of us a few more times as long as he doesn't lose interest due to time restrictions and belt strippings etc... anyway looks like 2017 could be a crazy year for the fight fans and I defo cant wait 👍👍

So WK next for AJ. I reckon AJ will win comfortably like all his other fights. Needs to avoid getting hit like he has done quite well in previous fights to keep on making it look simple.

Last nights top 2 co-main and main event fights were pretty damn good fights with Holloway and Cerrone bagging a Win each as expected, but the highlight of the night was when Dooho Choi's chin stole the show with a spectacular display of guts and desire... what a brilliant fight that I have watched 3 times now just to see how good it was
Well done to Swanson for the very hard fought win but there was no loser in that fight if it was based on heart, desire and stamina!!
Some more fights like that please.. that was something else!

The Women's Featherweight division is finally here. Notable absence is Cyborg of course as she turned it down so she could recover from all the brutal weight cuts she's been doing lately. It wouldn't surprise me if, and it's a big if, Rousey wins the Bantamweight title and Dana fast tracks Rousey to a Featherweight title shot against Holm (who should win her title bout at 208) in order to try and get Rousey a second belt and bring her back up to McGregor's level in terms of popularity.

I don't see Ronda going anywhere outside of Bantamweight. I'm actually willing to say that if she loses to Nunes then she's done, which sucks because that means zero chance of Cyborg fight. As far as my prediction for the Holm/de Randamie fight, I see de Randamie winning. She's similar to Shevchenko, but with a way longer reach, I think longer than Holm, and height to match. Either or, they're getting murdered by Cyborg afterwards which will either stagnate the title immediately, or we'll see people like Miesha Tate, Cat Zingano, and Jessica Eye move up to the class. I think the class is long overdue, so I'm happy.
If she wins, I do genuinely see Rousey going up to Featherweight as that is where she fought at in Strikeforce, before she dropped to Bantamweight to avoid fighting Cyborg. I do think Dana will be pushing her straight to the top, making sure she gets back all her former glory and then some. But if Rousey loses that fight with Nunes, I do agree, that will absolutely be the last we see of Ronda Rousey in the UFC. She'll either go try and revive a fizzled out acting career, go be a golden girl in the WWE, or just fade into obscurity entirely. As much as I dislike Rousey, I would be concerned for her mental health if she lost to Nunes the same way she lost to Holm. Just look at how much one loss broke her.
I haven't heard much at all about de Randamie, but if she is similar to Shevchenko with longer reach, then Holm needs to change her style completely as how she fought against Shevchenko was just a bit off to what we saw against Rousey. I'm holding out hope that Holm can turn recent form around to claim the Featherweight title. A Cyborg v Holm fight would be a great fight. Cyborg would more than likely win it, but Holm would go down swinging for sure.

Germaine de Randamie is 5'9" with a 71" reach. Holly Holm is 5'8" with a 69" reach as far as body comparison goes. de Randamie has the tendency to come after opponents, but to date, all of her wins have been against people with shorter reaches. de Randamie has the advantage of being able to throw freely from the outside without severe chances of a counter swing unless Holm can somehow overcome over an inch while stepping backwards. Holm has the advantage of having UFC gold before, while this will be de Randamie's first MMA title fight. Her last loss was against Nunes back in 2013, and since then she's had two wins, battering Pacheco in 2015, and Anna Elmose earlier this year, both over by TKO. Both like standing and throwing, with de Randamie being a Muay Thai/Kickboxing specialist. In other words, I don't see this fight going all five rounds in either's favor.
