Well it was an option. Only the R models (the racier trim) came with the spoiler. My friend's is the base model, so it's factory wingless. Also noteable, the factory wing does about nothing for downforce. It's completely aesthetic, and only increases drag.

And looks out of place, if you ask me. ;)

Just as a heads up, I posted a ton of FD pictures on the Import picture thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7833&page=400

My favorite:

So gorgeous. 👍

That is sooo mean and **** all looking... Very very sweet..

As for the V8 conversion - I don't think I qualify to give any input.. It'll still be a sweet looking car either way.

Yeah, lot of great bodywork in that car. That's an engine that WILL upset the weight balance of the car, though. I'm sure it weighs a good bit more, as well.

No argument there, but 700whp+ is something I wouldn't want for a car that light. It's more or less in drag trim.

Just needs more tire, is all. :)

This guy is running a built 427 LS7 (actually 430cid after the overbore), and running 315s up front, 345 on the rears.

A beautiful car overall:

Good to see you back Troux, I'm glad you finally came to and bought a nice 123 diesel, I don't know what those two red blobs in the driveway that seem to be mating are, you really should talk to the neighbors or pest control or something... Anyways if you have any Questions about your new Mercedes let me know 👍

*claps hands*

See, now THAT'S how you do it. Brilliant.

^Yep. Not much I'd change about that car.

That's my friend's mom's. It's got a ton of miles on it, and she's had it for years. It's one of those cases where she could afford a much better car (she actually wants a 7 after driving ours ;)), but she just loves the Benz for what it is. It's quite slow (it ran a 21.3 a couple years ago), loud, and handles like a bathtub, but some people just get attached to their junk. Much like me and my Corolla (daily). :)

My gf has a similar car and I agree with everything you said, high mileage bathtub of fun. with the tweaks I gave it you might get a 20 on the quarter.

So this is the car you were trying to make us guess about all those months ago?? quite a beauty you've got there and while I have a deep soft spot for all things rotary I can't help but agree that if you have the means and the desire, theres no reason not to put something a little easier to manage (at least easier to shred rear tires with :dopey: )

keep us updated you devil you

Actually, like I said in my first post, I was originally planning on getting a hardtop Supra. I found two that were absolute gems. Not to bore you with the details, but one was a 1 of 18, another was a 1 of maybe 5. The sellers backed out and I started looking, and to me, an American engine in a Japanese chassis is about as good as it gets, so I went with the 7 and am just trying to get rid of the rotary now. It still mostly fits the same criteria I was looking for in another Supra, but I think I'll end up being happier in the long run. :)

dont knock the W123s.

its probably the car with the most million mile examples. cant break em. just change the oil hot and often, and do the maintenance in a timely manner. built like the proverbial outhouse.

anyway, back on topic. IMO, theres point where it just gets silly. that RB swap, and that overbored LS7 come to mind. i think those wheel flares kill the bodylines. and as someone said, a car that light, with that much power....

but if youre drag racing and nothing but horsepower will do, .............

Well The guy with the overbore LS7 is strictly a road racer, and that's very useable power. It's probably got a little more power than the SS/Blue Devil Corvette, but about 300+ pounds or so lighter, and with probably similar tire. Definitely extreme, but with a correctly built chassis, it's very useable.

i vote it goes to the 'ring. the ring is the arbiter of truth for all things performance car.

its nice, dont get me wrong. its just a little too outre for me. i prefer the sleeper look. think innocuous little 190E benz with nice rims. hiding a 350hp v8:tup::)

Awesome plate Troux! Glad to see your on RX7club aswell. I am almost 100% positive that I will be purchasing an NA FC3S real soon! Hopefully my idea for a plate on the 7 won't be taken..."MZDAB8TR"

You can get 8 characters? :( Very few states can get 8 in the US.

Yep Ontario is 8 characters without a space in the middle or 7 with a space!

I'm unsure if the mazdabater plate would go through approval though....If not I think I might go with "RTRY RKT" = Rotary Rocket. That or "13BPIIDB" since you do frequent the RX7club forums you should know that term very well.....

Hey, one could always dump a M104 in that beautiful red chunk of Mazdaness... :dopey:

I love the plate. 👍
