Following on from David Niven (Casino Royale), Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan, Bond will be played in the next film (also Casino Royale) by...

Daniel Craig (Layer Cake).

Discuss.

Personally, I'd have liked to have seen Colin Salmon ("Charles" from the Brosnan Bonds).

Are they going to dye his hair or is 007 going to be blonde now?

They're calling him the "Blond Bond" (without the -e is masculine, with it is feminine), so one presumes he's staying stupid. I mean blond.

He just ISN'T sauve enough. He doesn't even look like a James, I can tell you that now. He should have dark hair like all good Jameses.

Edit: Seriously, if that bloke can be bond, then nearly ANYONE can be. I'm amazed they picked Daniel Craig really. He doesn't even look very young, if they wanted to have the story about the earlier years of James Bond...

I think even I could do it better in that regard, being younger and a James... Ok maybe if I went to the gym. Who on GTPlanet thinks they could make a better James Bond?

I still say it should've been Colin Salmon.

It fits with my theory to explain away the fact that James Bond has been apparently fighting the forces of evil for 50 years and has been 6 different people - "James Bond" is a titular for whomever is the 007 agent, above their "real" name. "Charles" is already in the agency, so could be promoted to "James Bond".

They're going to have to do a lot more than change the actor to fix what they've done with the 007 series.

daan
And then people wouldn't be complaining that he was blond.....
They'd be saying something else ...
The (filmakers) should've hired a lookalike or something, after all, the acting is nonexistant in today's Bond films.

They are. They're going for the awful "prequel" version which has dogged our film/TV industry recently.

Can't think of any further plotlines? Then have a PAST one, and regurgitate all the old plotlines and gadgets! Hell, it worked with Star Trek: Enterprise.

What do you mean it didn't?

Nah Colin Salmon (just looked up on Google) looks like a generic tough guy. Bond needs to be more interesting looking (he needs to actually look intelligent) and be ultra sauve with a hard edge in his eye at the same time. I haven't been happy with any of the actors that were floated around when everyone was in crazy rumour mode.

I still think they should've done another last one with Brosnan, even just to have time to find another proper, good choice of Bond.

WOW!!! FUNNY! As soon as I posted in this thread, MY STATUS WENT UP TO...

YOU GUESSED IT!!! GOLD MEMBER!!! LOFL!!!!

Yeah I think Clive Owen wouldv'e been far better, his acting imo isn't great but it's better than Daniel Craig's and he looks more the part too. Then again if the next film's a prequel they can use Craig for that then do a load more modern day ones with Owen. I can't see Craig's deal being more than just one film unless they do a few prequels which would be stupid. I think re-doing Casino Royale is stupid even if they can do a good job of it, it's still associated with crap crap crap.

They need to get away from the Bond=Superhero thing they've been doing recently in the movies. They also need to get away from the BondBadGuy=SuperVillain.

They need to stop trying to outdo the previous films with even bigger more amazing stunts and just stick to an interesting plotline.

They need overall more intelligent, believable plots and scripts.

I never heard of this actor before. Then again I Probably won't watch the new movie anyway.

Seen "Layer Cake"?

He's the central character in it.

I was pullin' for Clive Owen, too. He would've been perfect - BMW Films anyone?

Daniel Craig? What the ****?
Hell yeah! He'd be perfect for those driving scenes! Plus, imo, he does have a secret agent look....Or he could at least pull it off better than this guy.

This guy wouldn't be bad for a few other movies.

At least I have black hair.

Actually, on second thoughts I don't look anywhere near sauve enough. Or mean enough. In fact, totally weak and a bit of a tosser going by the beach setting and the sunnies.

@young_warrior.

Now the beach setting wasn't meant to infer gayness. But its a modern world, I can't stop you from wanting to... UGH!

Yeah, James Bond movies are starting to become like xXx, which isn't a good thing.

They need more actual "spying" going on, more deception and sneakiness on bond's part to get info etc... And way more casinos, tuxedos, martinis, girls and sexual inuendo. Overall they need a much more intelligent script with a lot more going on in the film at any one moment.

They're becoming just stupid like xXx, pretty much a straight up action flick. I wouldn't even class the last few films as being James Bond movies. The last bit I atually liked was the start of Goldeneye with the DB5. Nice car... The BMWs all sucked arse.
