The next-gen MX-5 Miata thread

The Si had 4 wheel discs, although the rears were probably the size of CDs. Technology has come a long way, I'll give you that, but it still looks cheap for something that will most likely cost 30k. Still, this is a pretty useless argument, as people who enjoy driving/racing and hellaflush hard-parkers alike will swap everything for 14" disks and 6 piston calipers.
You don't need much braking power for a 2200-2300lb car.

These brakes?

If you guys look closely, you can see that the wheel well is blacked out right behind the rotor. I'm not saying the rotors are not to scale but that's the 17" car which is supposedly just a fiberglass mockup.

That Rocket Bunny kit... ugh, absolutely sick of seeing it on everything. I liked the overfenders on the FR-S/BRZ when they came out, but now that it's on everything from 180sx' to 458s (sorry Keef, but Liberty Walk = Rocket Bunny, it's the same guy designing it), it's lost its appeal. It's rehashed. And we all know there'll be at least 4 of them sporting it at Tokyo Auto Salon in January. And the internet will go crazy, again.

Altough I absolutely agree on the overplayed thing, I still think it looks awesome. I mean, yes, it's like "oh, there goes once again", but it's also a "damn that looks awesome". It's kinda an LSx transplant (which I know you're not a fan of  and btw, how long until we see one in one of these?), overplayed but awesome in a strange combination of good and bad

Yeah, I think those are not real. Found this picture with the 16" (I believe) wheels. They look considerably more robust:

^^^ Another difference in those photos is the side marker in front of the tire.
I guess US get's the amber front marker?

Also surprised both 16 and 17 wheels look fairly identical. I'm sure that will change with the production car.

Which size wheel is it cheaper to get Pilot Super Sports?

I don't see super sports in 195-215/50/16.

Is anyone here actually a potential upcoming buyer or are you all just NA sackriders moaning and groaning for the sake of being heard?

I will be purchasing. But I would much rather have the coupe, so I'll wait for Mazda's confirm or denial on that before purchasing.

I'm noticing that more and more people are disappointed the MX-5 is a convertible and it's the younger people more than the geriatrics. That's strange to me because it being a convertible is the only reason I find it more enjoyable than the FRS.

It's not the open top I don't like, it's just the overall lines of the car don't look that great on pretty much any convertible, especially with the top up. Don't get me wrong, I would get one either way, but if they do confirm a coupe I would prefer to have that.

Edit: (I'm getting these from Miata.net, so sorry to those that have seen them already. I hand picked a few, there are more over there.)

NA sack riders.
I'd be a potential buyer, but (a) I'd have to fit in the car, and (b) it would have to really knock my socks off for me to give up the practicality of something else on the market.

Why can't we be both?
No one is stopping you.

Size wise, if the NC wasn't for you this probably won't be either. There might be slightly more leg room. The blonde guy who drove the car onto the stage is 6' and he looked sort of cramped. He's a lanky dude BUT look at the shoulder room he didn't have.

Depending on my situation when this car hits showrooms, I might buy one. I already like it way more than the FR-S/BR-Z.
That's what has me a bit confused. They're saying July release for australia. Isn't that winter time over there?
Though it makes more sense now since US customers won't be receiving their 25TH AE models til the end of this month.

Can somebody photoshop me a white one with a red circle on the hood? Please. Preferably on a polished bare aluminum hood. K thanks.

My Megane Trophy+ will be getting handed into a Mazda dealership.

I find the styling of the ND a bit fussy at the front and back IMO. The side profile is where it looks best.

Oh, not sure if anyone has read this anywhere else, but the car does not have a glove box to save weight/space.

I don't use mine anyway other than to hold my insurance card/registration/lug nut tool.
