The Next Gran Turismo Probably Won't Be GT Sport 2

That statement probably had to be made because there's so much FUD circulating over the PS5 what with devkits out and all.

And yet there's like 100 mil. plus ps4 original units out there so its not like as if they aint developing for what most people have.

If you give GTS 2yrs of solid support then that only brings up to Oct 2019?

So two years of mainline ps4 non pro support is probably ok for GT7 the real driving simulator.

My 2014 ps4 has to last until its about to finish primary school.

I think its obvious that we will have a 2nd GT on PS4. I think this was the plan as GTS has been marketed as a secondary and not mainline numbered series. Also the initial lack of single player as that was supposed to come in the next GT, but due to pressure was added post release. I just hope adding that doesn't set back the next GT. In theory it shouldn't, in PDs world it almost surely will.

They titled this version "sport" in order to separate this title from the previous ones (that were estabilished to have 2 editions each console)
I think if they don't want to make an error two times (2013 GT6 on PS3) , they wont make another GT with a new PS5 on the initial run (~2019÷2021)..

PD is not Rock Star ... (don't forget guys ! )

PD is not Rock Star ... (don't forget guys ! )

You're right there. PD don't try to bleed people dry by bringing out the same game twice (three if you count the premium online edition). I'm looking at you GTAV

I dont think its fair to compare it to GTA5 as that's a superstar money roller since 2013 - I'm pretty sure at this point the sales figures of GTA5 is about the same as numbers of ps4 consoles shipped.

There's no getting away from the fact that car driving sims like this dont have a long shelf life. That's just the way it is. GT6/S would be doing well at 2yrs of solid support.

I dont understand why people still dont realize, GT sport was never intended to be anything more than a over glorified "prologue"? It was never meant to be a real replacement for GT6, Kaz and the rest of the developers were pretty open about that. Sport is just a test bed for things they might implement into Gt7 which is already in the works. Just like every in between "filler" game they have ever made before the next "real Turismo was released. I feel sorry for people who went out and bought a ps4, and new wheel setup just to play sport. Plus considering Sony just announced ps4 is at the end of its life cycle, because ps5 is just around the corner. I tried to tell people dont buy sport and support that crap, because 1 it was going to be the excuse Sony needed to kill off the unfinished GT6 (which I sadly miss), to move people over to paying for online play just like the devil box, aka xbox. 2 Obviously based on how quick electronics become obsolete, and how it should be obvious. Company's are going to do things in a way that makes them money, not in a way to actually please their customers. GTA5 for ps3 is perfect example, R* knew they weren't going to support that game on the lower platforms for the long haul, but waited until after they got filthy rich off the sales on those platforms, before finally coming out and saying,.. Haha buy newer consoles and pay for online, even though you already pay for internet. If you actually want support, new content and updates. So long story short hell naw GT7 wont be GT sport 2, which im sure developers were at least open about from before Gt sports release.

Dont forget there are people who are actually happy about this game. Regardless its downsides. As always on the internet the complainer-part of a community is faster with starting negative posts than players who are positive.

Well I'm not buying the next Gran Turismo game if it's on the Playstation 4 pro or the Playstation 5 I don't think they can keep up with console life cycle.

Wow don't :-D I actually got a wheel after playing a few month to gt sport and loving it. While gt6 was gathering dust after two or three game sessions :-/

I dont understand why people still dont realize, GT sport is the most finished / polished game we've had from PD in the last decade.

I don't know how many many people was still playing GT6, 6 months after release but I'm pretty sure it was nothing compared to the number of players that still plays GT Sport today...

A "real" GT doesn't mean anything today IMO. If you're refering to the rabbit chase races in the career mode, I don't want that EVER again (for me GT5 and GT6 were time trials games, nothing more) ! PD didn't spend time on AI in the last 10 years, I don't expect anything from them for the next game and now we have the Sport mode it doesn't bother me.

I really hope the next GT games will still have a Sport Mode core. And if you look what's happening all around, every racing game are following this iRacing / GT Sport spirit.

What do you mean with 'on the PS4 pro'

PS4 games can be released on both the PS4 Pro and the normal PS4. No game is only accessible on one version. It's the same console with better graphics and performance

Imo, simply put, GTS is neither a prologue, nor a replacement to traditional GT games. Rather, I believe it is has been developed as a foundation or bedrock of everything PD would like to do or add. Think of GTS at launch and even currently as the foundation of a skyscraper. It has to be dialed in and right before adding everything on top. They are still twerking and getting everything set for the fia side of the sim, but I'm certain that GTS will evolve into a balance of traditional, new content(possibly never seen before), and the reports effort. In the end of its life cycle, I see it being a greatest hit, and, everything learbed in this game and its evolution will be the next iteration of GT...again, my opinion.

I only have GT5 Prologue to go on and I played it a bit without any Spec enhancements but no one can realistically compare GT5P with GTS.

In my country, GTS is about $50-$60 in any high street store now as it was since debut. Some clown stores are still at $79 etc.

I'm not sure its even worth that at this given date.

Its $40 in PSN but as low as $30 and possibly $20 second hand.

It it worth that? I'd say yes.

It’s going to take a lot for me to buy the next GT .... instalment on release day. Think I will wait for others to air their views about it. I’ve only been playing from GT3 to present and by far I think GTS is the worst of the series , in terms of game play , cars and tracks , but it also has some good features that I hope will be carried over. PD will have a hard job in pleasing everyone . Also I’m wondering what happens when they decide to close down the servers there won’t be much of a game left to carry on with , I still play GT 5 and 6 and I really wish we could of used the track editor after the servers were shut down.

Yes that's an interesting point. Say 2020 when they give up on this you can readily see that when you press lobby or sport menus it goes 'cannot connect to server'.

I assume they will change the save mechanism so it goes local. You can readily buy GT5/6 2nd hand and have a fair bit of 'game' there.

I dont see the same case for GTS come 2020 unless they absolulely slam thru the content from here to finish.

Don't confuse honesty with negativity. And I am pretty sure I wasn't complaining, if people are happy playing whatever fine by me. No disrespect but people have to start thinking and understanding the bigger picture. If people keep accepting whatever carrot they dangle in people's face, you are going to get what ever vegetable they feel like dangling in your face. If people keep falling for crap like sport, that's what the entire community gets. The community needs to start saying no, we wont accept this. Especially since the community is paying for it with money and with the quality of the content. Perfect example how the community came together on starwars battlefront 2 and said no, and EA had no choice but to remove micro transactions BS they had going on. Now to be fair EA put them back because that's what they had planned all along. But everybody learned a valuable lesson of, that kinda foolishness is unacceptable. The reason electronics become obsolete so fast now is because the company's that produce them make them that way. And they can get away with it because people keep foolishly buying them.

I don't understand how you don't understand, how sport with less cars, less freedom, no real drift mode, less customization, less setting adjustments, and almost nothing that remotely points towards the direction of car culture. Is the "most finished / polished game we had from PD" That makes no sense considering (A) its just a glorified prologue, and (B) most of its content is based from updates.

As far as what you said about "rabbit chase races". I guess you must have only played career mode and don't have any actual real life car friends you play with online. I cant speak for everybody, but I only did enough of career mode and the Test required to be allowed online. Because the AI on no game will ever really be a challenge to me, without borderline cheating, or putting me in a situation of being at a disadvantage. Its just a stupid cpu it cant out think me, or at least be able to do it quicker than I can think. Most importantly GT for me was always about actual car culture and the people I know who participate in it with me, on a digital platform with the best possible physics engine. Since GT1 my friends and I use to sit and play with each other before online play was available. I mostly was in drift lobbies, and sometimes the cruise or cops lobby's. Sometimes we would make lobbies just to talk to each other and joke around. So honestly I didn't really care much for rabbit chase's either. Honestly I only did seasonals for the color chips, and for bragging rights in my inner circle. And its not like you can even get more than 50 mil in money.

So this leads me into 6 months after the release of sports reply. 90% of my real life car friends were playing up until the last day, and about 70% of cool people I met on the game still was playing up until the last day. So honestly I have to say who cares how it compares, because for me everybody that mattered for the most part was still playing. I would say about 4% of my actual real life car friends play sport, and about 15% of cool people I met play sport. Everybody I know for the most part refused to buy at after learning it was just prologue for ps4

I completely understand your point of view. I've organized championships on GT6 and I have great memories about them but it was SO much time consuming that I've decided to stop them after a couple of seasons... So I've tried to join championships here on gtplanet and it was fun but with too much constraints (time, availability...).

If suddenly I have 45 minutes of free time I can jump on my rig launch the game, select a daily race, train a little, do the race with CLEAN drivers then check my ranking, and I'm happy ! Even if not perfect, the ranking system is a way to give yourself goals, you can see yourself evolving among the other players and I love this feeling.

If you don't have a lot of time to simrace (because job/family etc...) but you're still a racing enthousiast, GT Sport is simply the best GT game EVER.

I cannot realistically compare GT Sport to any other past title because I think they're just too different to have a meaningful comparison.

I think the "bones" of GTS is better than GT5/6 but I think many of you guys wont give much credit for that simply because the underlying hardware is like a few generations ahead... (ie. ps3 -> ps4).

Both GT5/6 gave me more than I bargained for since few games have that many cars and tracks and content.

GT Sport just doesnt have the content right now and I dont feel it ever well compaed to 5/6 however that's not to say that I'm unhappy with what I got.

This is possibly in direct contrast to Forza. I feel like Forza 6 was the best out of Forza 5 and 7 and because GT Sport has stood alone for this generation I'm not sure how it ranks really among the Gran Turismos... it actually has some good mechanics behind it.

Again, if this thing lasts two Christmas's... this coming one and 2019 then thats all I can hope for and I'd be extremely happy with what I paid for the game and the console.

Best ever? I dont care, I just want to be entertained by PD for the time they support it.

1000% agree

I am a racing enthusiast and GTS is no where near the best GT game ever, when we get GT7 and over 1200 cars and all world tracks, then you may get the best GT game ever.

But then that's all about car collection. I've grown tired of that. GTS has returned the focus to racing.

I played GT5 a lot, and then I got 6 and I was incredibly disappointed. It was the same game with a little bit of added content.

I mostly raced in leagues in GT5, but after it fell apart, I was left to stuck to finding lobbies in GT6. I never enjoyed that process.

Now if I want to race, I can fire up sport mode and have a full room in minutes.

I'm here to drive race cars, not purchase 25 skylines and a 1998 honda civic (or something lame like that)

Just my two cents, and I understand people will disagree with the last part viciously.

Thank God.
And to think I bought the PS4 on release date to play GT7, I thought it would be out by 2016.
Anyway GT7 will probably be released for PS4, they seem to take a lot of time to create car models, a GT turismo title for PS5 will probably come out in 2024, (not kidding)

You forget that at least 800 of these cars are not fit for purpose on a PS4 and quite a few tracks as well. Some cars are from as far back as GT2. You wonder why there are no 'classic' tracks? Takes a lot of work to reproduce all these cars for the next generation when i'm guessing its easier to make new tracks from scratch. There won't be as many as the 1200 cars on the next GT number game.

GTS is so boring now and Sports Mode is a joke, I think most players want GT7 ASAP and they don't mind if they get 25 skylines or what ever in the game, as long as there is a lot of cars like around 1200.
