Pretty sure D90s were only ever available as a 16" no matter what car, but certainly never larger than a 16". I don't know Boxsters well enough to say for sure that they look bigger than 16" on there but they look like they're too big to be real.986 Boxster on 964 (base) wheels: (I think this might be photoshopped, but I don't mind it at all, particularly on this darker red)

The phone dials on the black car for the winter setup appear to be what a 16" looks like on a 986. It benefits from a more "open" wheel like the phone dials, where the D90s are too solid around the lugs.I think you are right, they appear to be scaled to 17". At first it looks like a Z3 because the wheels make it look smaller. Digging it.M6 wheels on a Z8 looks pretty good IMO.
