Some GTA Moderator I am!

More Moderator than GTA, I'd say. But that is what's important. Taking on the Recordbook responsibility is also a great contribution to the GTP GTA forum. Keep up the good work and play GTA when you can! :P

Mmm yeah. I used to be completely obsessed with the GTA games, especially GTA III and Vice City, but I just can't get into San Andreas. I'll revive it all with Vice City some day, but I just can't get into the storyline of San Andreas or get the feel of it. Shame really, Rockstar put in a hell of a lot of work.

Spuds725
still waiting for Small to pass me back up on that one.

Well until GT4 wears off, i wont be playing GTA SA for a while, but rest assured i will get around to it if you really want me to :sly:.

I come in here and check the record book often enough, gettting up to date on whos beating my records (or trying to).

EDIT!
Congrats on your new baby spuds 👍

Oy...I think I just had my first experience of "Super Cop" that Famine once described in a killing method of his. It consisted of a cop about 40 feet away suddenly warping in front of my door and busting me. Now wtf is up w/ that?!

I've got a little something for anyone that's looking for creative challenge.
I found this interesting little trick on gamefaqs:
FYREWOLF88
Use the Vortex as a Submarine
Use the Vortex between El Quebrados and the abandoned airfield to take the small unique jump ramp that's on the back of the small shack it's parked next to. When you land in the water, the unique jump slow-motion cinema should keep going, with the camera fixed in one spot. Drive way out into the reservoir, and towards the dam, to the left of the camera's view. You'll disappear from view, but keep going. Eventually you'll run into the side of the dam and the cinema will end, leaving you under water and able to steer the Vortex like a submarine, without draining lung capacity or anything, as if you weren't underwater at all.

It's fun for a while, but the problem is that you only get to play around in that little reservoir north of the dam. Can anybody find a way to do this trick out in open water?
I tried just driving north, but the unique stunt cam ends as soon as you touch land. Presumably you'd need to find some other unique stunt jump to start from, but I can't think of any that are that close to the open ocean.

The jump cam doesn't activate on either those or the one to the airport (#35). I guess the Vortex isn't fast enough.
#36 on that map doesn't work either. I'll try #s 1-4 later, 'cause I've been through about 6 Vortexes (Vorticies?) so far. :yuck:

please keep this thread "off topic"-- what I mean is non specific GTA discussion only.

I, for one, am still looking for jumps on my own (35 so far)---

Since no one posted here in a couple days, I hope you forgive my double post-- my intention was to bump this.

The reason I haven't been on here much is that my new son arrived last wednesday 👍
-- fortunately, he looks like his mom 👍
-- he has been alot easier then my first kid and frequently sleeps over 4 hours at stretch 👍
--unfortunately, no diaper can contain him. 👎

Haven't got a chance to play in a while and may not for a while-- my 2 1/2 year old seems to need more attention since the the new one arrived and he's been sick too.

thats about it with me, take it easy--

Spuds

congrats on you new kid 👍

im so glad to hear that he is healthy and well 👍

ive been away because of gt4 :P

Congrats Spuds! 👍

I've been away because of GT4 and study, this forum is way too quiet...

I have a ton of screens to post up, but I keep beating them so I end up putting them off. That and I find it really irritating to not be able to edit a post and link a picture.

what do you mean you cant edit a post and link a pic,

Unless you mean upload it to imageshack

A very big congratulations on the new kid, Spuds. He sounds a lot like I supposedly was as a child ... slept all day and spent my waking hours leaving "gifts" for my parents to find. Hope the eldest gets a bit better.

It's perfectly understandable that you haven't been able to play much ... I think the San Andreas hype has been killed here as of late thanks to GT4, so it doesn't matter too much. Still look forward to hearing from you as much as you can, and good luck with the little ones.

Jimmy.

Seeing that I know you that is some very disturbing information :yuck:

Please don't share stuff like that in the future

Sorry I'm bringing this back Spuds :scared: , this will probably be the last anyone hears of it though, I'm just semi-finalizing the issue.
Oh, and congratulations on your new progeny.

Okay, I finally just drove there and spawned a Vortex
Turns out only #3 and #2 are close enough to the water to matter, and the Vortex isn't fast enough to activate either.
Whilest randomly screwing around, I found that it will activate jump #26 though. I may go back later, but it seems it would be very difficult to impossible to land in the water from that jump.

Back off topic:
I've been screwing around with Chiliad a little;
-Went from the mountain bike race finish line up to the summit (via the first race route) in 2:05 in a Bullit. Went down the easy way for a pretty nice insane stunt bonus. (3 backflips!)
-Attempted many times to reach the summit in a police rancher while enduring a 3 star wanted level. This is very tricky and rather fun.
-Jumped from the summit to the easter bay airport in a Vortex. It actually just sort of fell off the side of the mountain, stupid wind. One could probably land on the naval base with the right sort of launch.
-Climbed to the summit (I forget what route, the second one I think) with a roadtrain and trailer. That was rather amusing.
edit:
-Climbed with the dump truck. That was too easy :sly:, even if the road is negligibly wider then the vehicle in some places.

I'm starting to think that GT4's boring, especially when playing San Andreas over at Cosmic's place.
The 2 player mode, which we actually tried for the first time today, is the best thing I've done in ages!
So, I might be starting to post more and more here. ("Oh, no!" *Everybody runs*)

Btw, LOL at the gift part, and congratulations to the little wonder !👍

Hmm, smells dead in here.

Anyone seen all those lights along the ridge in supposed-to-be-Marin-county*? Kinda wierd. Like that series of pipelines leading off into the ocean all around the outside edges of Las Venturas.

*the bit north of the Garver bridge, around the town the boat school is in, don't know what it's called in the game.

Wow! Congrats Spuds! It must be pretty amazing.

BTW, with it being near the end of my senior year, I have been very busy as of late. I haven't even played GTA in a few weeks. I guess I'm going to be the salutatorian thingy of my class, so I have to give a speech at my graduation. :yuck: JK, I really want to do it. I can't believe that high school is almost over. So many great memories! :indiff:

Mmm, I on the other hand can't wait until school's over. There's not much I'll miss from there apart from the random weird things that happen every once in a while, but school's been a burden for a while now. I just want it out of the way so I can get on to a full-time job and get a bit of much-needed money on my side.

Plus, the last two months have definitely been the worst two months of my life, and things aren't getting better at the moment. My last year of schooling is definitely not something I want to think about right now.

Thanks for all the congrats on the kid-- he is still doing real good and is typically sleeping 5 or 6 hours straight at night (which is excellent for a newborn)-- the older one is finally over all his illnesses--he has been very healthy up til now-- guess he was over due.

I honestly have not had time to turn on the PS2 since the new one was born-- I'm either doing stuff around the house (spring has sprung here so yardwork has returned), still finishing up some remodeling projects, going to work, watching the kids or sleeping--- I'm also in the process of upgrading my saltwater aquarium and have spent a fair amount of time researching and visiting a marine aquarium message board.

Hope everything picks up for you Jimmy-- hang in there.

Was this using a cheat? Or is the Vortex very good at jumps?

Think I'm gonna have to have a look in to this.

The vortex is the hovercraft, right?

:/

as for the cheat bit you need to read a few posts up to find out whats going on.

the vortex is a good jumper because you can aim the air around and get good lift and distance

Yeah, but I've never gotten an records from it, it always jumps and lands without getting any bonuses or anything...

Blake

No cheats. I was pretty surprised at how slowly it lost altitude.
I think that jump pretty much confirms that you can't get insane stunt bonuses in a Vortex :P .
Still fun though.

Currently working on Desert Tricks, got a 1:58, lost 2 - 3 seconds at the end!!:grumpy:
should be able to get a 1:55 or 1:56.

I herby vote that Dam Rider is one of the hardest motorbike races!!! :yuck: :ouch:

Then i have City Circuit, Backroad Wanderer ........ T.Vercetti aka Valinteno Rossi!

Edit

Just got a 1:55 for Desert Tricks, a 1:54 may be possible as i took the 2 corners before the dam wall a bit slower than possible.

PS, hows that for a sub 2min run spuds :sly: ;)

 that race drove me crazy--- I've done it more then all others combined-- I only loved it as its the only "street" race without any other traffic-- nice times. I need to fire up my PS2 one of these days--- its been 2 1/2 months since I turned it on :scared:
