But you have to laugh at how long ti took them to make a game that is such a copy, and not a very good one at that.

GTA2 did kick their ass, that's why it's at the top of my list.

How long did it take them?

But besides that, back then the games took a while to make, as it was a little more primitive. San Andreas took ages too. They started making it not long after they finished Vice City. Actually to memory, the research team started while Vice City was in the works still.

I mean driv3r took ages. Or at least it was ages between 2 and 3 and I'd been hearing hype about 3 for ages.

well, obviously i'm not a regular here. but i am a vet of GTAIII and VC. I think i pre-orderd a copy of SA but that was so long ago i can't remember now.... Anyways, when i get it, i'll probably do what i always do in the begining: Taxi Missions! Best way to learn your way around. and make some dough. Then i'll probably fool around with some of the character custimization things before i get started on the storyline.

I plan on spending some time in the countryside too. I wanna see what kinda' off-road adventures i can have. I heard there may be some kind of hill-climb

Yeah, that's always what I do when I start a new VC game. So I can get a garage.

I really do think the next title after GTA SA will be a GTA2 remake......set in the near future (unrealistic but fun).....because all games have been set in the past. GTA2 was really good I thought and I think that they should remake that one......after all, they are remaking all the others......

Yeah I usually try them fairly soon. I'm hoping so much that they don't close off any areas, as I want to do mine and Blake's "Storylines" right from the start.

Also Blake, if you read in the New Details thread, the property is apparantly more expensive than in Vice City. Hopefully in at least the 10's of thousands, for realism. So I think story missions will buy you a house, not Taxi missions.

I hope to god you're wrong. Rockstar have made GTA about realism now, less about killing and stealing. So I doubt that. The next GTA will be most likely set in the present, as in GTA 3.

I think you'll get somewhere t keep a car straigth away though, I hope so anyway (seeing as it's harder to steal vehicles).

Harder to steal vehicles?

Also, I believe you get a place of your own in Grove Street straight away, which probably means garage. I've already put a lock on the Grove Street house for the GTP San Andreas Community when it starts! It's mine baby!

The cummunity shouldn't start for a couple of weeks I think, so everyone can get some places and unlock some areas. I want to live in the Las Ventura baby!

Vehicles are harder to steal, owners will often need persueding with a gun and it's more realistic.

^ cool. In the bad areas, you should get blasted by the driver through the window when you try to open the door!!! :D that would be hilarious, and probably somewhat realistic. he he he

I think the next GTA game should be set in the future AND the past. It should start off in the future and when you've got to a certani point in the game you should get a time machine that can take you to the past. Like the Wild West. And you should be able to go to Vice City and Liberty City and all the San Andreas cities. And you can take back a raygun from the future and shoot people with it. And there should be children and dogs and horses you can kill and run over with your car. And you should be able to slow down time like in the Matrix. And Keanu Reeves should do the lead voice. And the future place should be on the moon. With robots and laser guns and aliens. And you should be able to teleport to a colony on Titan. Where there's a prison colony that you go to jail. And you have to break out of jail. And it should also be set in Mega City One where you can team up with Judge Dredd to fight crime. And there should be aliens in the game. And the Simpsons. You can meet Homer Simpson. Yeah. And in the future you can meet a cyborg Tommy Vercetti who has x-ray vision. And Charlie's Angels should be in it. Cos Drew Barrymore is hot. And there should be a boss called Jimmy Enslashay who drives around in an armored car and you have to chase him down and kill him. And you should be able to drive a Trident nuclear submarine. And launch ICBMs at the commies. And go to Vietnam and Afghanistan and take part in the wars. And drive an F-16 fighter jet. And fight a battalion of giant robots in Iraq that were secretly developed by Saddams scientists. And you should be able to get a job as one of Saddam Hussein's evil scientists and develop WMDs and then flee the country when the US invades. And then you can take your WMDs to the future GTA city and use them as a weapon. And you should have a hideout that's a secret underground lair like Batman's Cave. You should also have access to the Batmobile. And that cool bat shaped aircraft that Michael Keaton had in Batman. That was cool. And you can buy a giant mechanical spider that does your killing for you. And because you're a criminal mastermind, you have access to all sorts of drugs that you can take drugs and become a junkie and then go into rehab and become a good guy. And then you have to use your Batmobile for doing vigilante missions. And fight crime and stuff. And you have to join the Navy SEALS and go to the Middle East to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden. And when you find him he explains that the US government was responsible for 9/11 so you have to go after evil US government officials. And you can become a vampire. And a werewolf. And you should be able to get plastic surgery. And have sex change operations. And you should get experience points for killing people and blow up stuff so you can gain levels and get new skills and spells and stuff like in an RPG. That's role playing game, not rocket propelled grenade. But there should be those too in the game. And rocket propelled chickens. Those would rock. Maybe Rockstar would hire me as a conceptual designer. Those Houser boys don't have nuthin' on me.

I remember posting a similar off-the-top-my-head meaningless rant on a Neoseeker thread, and somebody actually thought I'd come up with good ideas for San Andreas and congratuled me.

Bizarre.

That was probably me before I left. I was a kiss-ass on NeoSeeker for the first couple of weeks...then I had my ass kissed by a couple of other newbs...then I left.

I hated NeoSeeker. GTP has better people, more quality, and a Quick Reply!

@KM I thing I remember reading that (Jimmy linked me to neo occasionally and I had a look through everything)

Did that GTA 3 Record Book ever go up there?

I said I'd do it after I got back from New Zealand...I got back and came straight to GTP.

I feel sorry for Spuds, after all he gave me the formatting for it. Lol. He gave me the format for the San Andreas Record Book, but I eventually got help from the "Go Advanced" button and preview post. He still gets a well-earned thank you. And I will do this Record Book. And I won't leave GTP. Ever.

If you ever give up on it you know who would be willing to take it over, nidge nudge...;)

Blake
nidge nudge...
Not with spelling or sayings like that!

Also, I'll never give up on it. I only didn't do it on NeoSeeker because that forum was plain bad. And I frequent this site alot. Alot. So I don't think I'll have trouble finding the time. I post at school. Lol, so I'm fine.

Dang, this thread has really died! It seems like it anyways, although it's actually only been nine days. Nine long days. You know what I mean? :boggled:

Anyways, I'd first like to say that I never saw KM's above post until now, and I thought it was great 👍 👍 (Ooo, two!) Another thing on my mind is Minesweeper! Does anybody play that game? It usually comes with Windows. I have to say that I am the king of Minesweeper! Tell me if you come close to my records:

Beginner: 10 seconds
Intermediate: 92 seconds
Expert: 299 seconds

Now if I have to mention something about Grand Theft Auto to stay on the topic of "The Official Off Topic GTA Thread" then here's a little tidbit: I saw a flatbed with nothing on the back! :D

I would say it's a glitch, which would be very similar to the "Taxi with No Light" glitch. Although, this one would be much rarer.

I should have tried to jump on the back, but I didn't for some reason! :odd:
I was trying to get a high rotation using the PCJ and the flatbed at the time, you know what I'm talking about.

My Minesweeper records (from memory) are:
Beginner: 5 seconds
Intermediate: 29 seconds
Expert: 119 seconds

You've some catching up to do. :)

I don't think we are talking about the same Minesweeper, or your memory is failing you at the moment, because that's impossible unless you are very, very lucky or a mathematical genius!

I'm thinking . . . screenshot . . . maybe?

Yup, those scores are definitely achievable. I can't prove those scores because they're from my old Windows 95 PC, but here's my current scores. As you can see I haven't completed the Expert level yet.

I got those low scores because I used to play Minesweeper a LOT. There's all sorts of tricks you can use to better your score. You have to know when to use the left mouse button and when to use the right mouse button. You basically have to know instinctively what to mark with your right mouse button and what to click with your left mouse button.

But with LOTS of practice, you can get your scores very low.
