The old Holden v Ford debate answered!

bjb
Ford all the way.
Stuff the all the holden loving hippys.
Plus who has won the V8 supercars Three times in a row Fords SBR team:sly: .

SBR = Stone Brothers Racing. for those who don't follow the V8s.

Holden won the bathurst last year

Thats because the AU sucked Ball. None of the ford teams could set it up right unlike the holden VY or VX (I'm not to sure on which one race the AU).

i know this guy personally and i am in complete agreement. VIVA LE FORD!, VIVA LE SBR!:sly:

What do you mean by that???

By the way, at least Fords actualy use their own engines, as opposed to the Chevrolet engines in the Holdens.
by that i mean peter brock in a holden owns bathurst :P
and if you didnt notice chevrolet and holden are basicly the same company

Ford V8 Supercars are powered by a 5.0L Ford "Windsor" SVO, which is an Ford America engine.

Both Ford and Holden engines are based on racing engines from their respective US parent companies

GM - GMH

is very similar to

Ford US - Ford Australia

Don't just let the name fool you.

Does anyone else find it funny that a thread titled "The old Holden v Ford debate answered!" has turned into a big Holden vs Ford debate?

Not much of a debate really, half of the thread seems to be saying "Ford is better!" "No, Holden is better" and in the end everybody'll be in tears.

Why don't they all just admit that BMW is better than both and be done with it. :sly: ;)

 there not though thats for sure

name some other makes of cars where you can get such great bang for your buck performance, plus the abbility to mod them cheaply (gen 3 especially)

bmw, overpriced and boring if you ask me

well the V8's ran on the weekend (duh) and guess who won? oh i'm sorry i thought i heard you say FORD won!!:sly: the way a few ford teams performed at Sandown, we have a good chance of claiming bathurst.

If you couldn't tell, I was joking more than anything else. I wouldn't expect most/all of the people in this thread to agree with me. :)

I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with the prices of cars in Australia to answer your question, but if they're anything like the prices here in the 'states, the Japanese have offered plenty of good alternatives through the years (moreso in the past than today), and there's also the Detroit versions of Ford and GM, along with DaimlerChrysler...

Compared to the other European manufacturers, though, I feel that BMW offers plenty of bang for your buck. Perhaps even the most bang.

Pretty much what ever the US prices are for BMW's (and other cars) you will have to atleast double it.

For example a E60 M5 is $220,000 AUD ($165,000 USD) which is just over than double.

...and the $80,000 M5 is one of the best deals Europe has. Do I even want to know how much a Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG costs, or a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti?

No wonder you guys are big on your own cars.

No wonder you guys are big on your own cars.

We are big on all cars from around the world (We can import quite easily), just because we make Holdens and Fords in our back yard unfortunately that doesn't mean we don't get the inflated prices with domestics.

For example:

2005 Holden Monaro CV8 (5.7l LS1) $60,000 AUD ($45,000 USD)
2005 Pontiac GTO (6.0l LS2) $30,000 USD

We get the smaller less powerful engine and still pay more, and we make them. This is a big reason why grey imports are popular here.

Anyway the topic, FPV's are quicker in GT4 than the Holdens but really it is a unfair comparison. GT3 introduced Australian cars into Gran Turismo, GT4 expanded that slightly I just hope GT5 will add a few extra so we can compare properly.
