"WHY!?!", you ask, "Why would you hate such an amazing car!?!"

Because I'll never own one. That's why.

It's a reasonable point, but it's not fair to hate something just because you can't have it. You have to celebrate the car, that someone somewhere had the balls to make it. You have to acknowledge the ripple-down effect that a stratospheric car like that has on the whole market. It's the perfection to which car designers must aspire. It is god to the car species. And that's reason enough to admire it, to respect it.

The Toyota RAV 4.

I can not begin to express my pure hatrid for this car.

For a start, it's ugly. I've got a very broad mind when it comes to cars, and taste in, but it's foul. Rotten, awful, minging...everything. It's just horrid. It was designed by someone from a blind school. It's nothing. Plain, balnd ugly.

Secondly, it serves no purpose. It's got the off-road capabilites of an F1 car, the road handling of a milk float, and the grunt of a hedge trimmer. Why on earth would you buy it?

Thirdly, it has about as much plastic inside as Pamela Anderson possesses on her boldily person, but it's no where near as attractive as the lovely Pammy.

Jeremy Clarkson once covered an entire RAV 4 with horse poo. I wish this on every single one.

Vauxhall Nova/Astra

Now ive wondered for a while why americans bash the Civic so much, until I heard the term "ricer" the Vauxhall nova is the UK equivalent (not the same car but has the same stupid things done to it) of the honda civic but worse. Its a tiny boxy piece of crap that 18 year olds buy (they will buy say a 1.2 litre engine version not the sports model) with about 6 million miles on it, put a stupid looking body kit on it, put stupid huge 16" wheels on it, and either change the exaust or put a hole in the current one to give it that "authentic" sound. Here is an example of it , however there are some awfull examples of this around where I live. So its the car and the driver that I hate I suppose. I mean I drive a bloody 1100cc engine car (ford fiesta) but I dont feel the need to put loads of crap on it like some people.

I feel sorry for you.
I guessing the reason why you've got a 1.1 Fiesta is [a] you can't afford the sporty model you can't afford the insurance.
It's all down to taste. 16" isn't bog. I've got 17"s on my Saxo, and I know someone who's got 19"s on theirs. People want different things from their cars. I can't understand why some people ca'nt see the other side of the coin, blinded by their own ignorance.
Some don't give a stuff how fast it goes, just want it to look and sound good. Maybe cost, might just be want they want. No harm in that. Jut you wait till you gte wasted by a Calibra Turbo powered Nova. Should wipe the smile off your face...or do I detect a little jealousy?

Slow? "Wussy V6"?

Heh. Ignorance is indeed bliss, it seems.

The new NSX is no doubt ugly, unless you are a lemming in terms of loyalty and will butt kiss any design evolution, or devolution of your favorite car. I like Firebirds but will admit when I think one is ugly.

Hooligan, it is not the Firebird's fault its parent was Pontiac.

I do not like posers. Sorry, but I like the car whose heritage and nature from the beginning or early on was meant for performance. A hawk with more power is a super hawk. A chicken with more power is a chicken suffering a midlife crises.

Here's my most hated car 😈, err looks like the smart cars :car: ugly brother... peice of 🤬 Ruins your holiday :sun: when it's the only hire car left in the whole of spain :earth:..

It pretends to be nice and economical, with low emissions well it is because of the pethetic engine...

On a windy day you'll wet :bubble: yourself as it nearly blows over, insurance is pennies because lets face it who would steal it?

A long daewoo warranty is handy when it's the only incentive you can give someone when selling privately after you can't put up with it anymore..

Watch the neighbours laugh as the whole family gets in and the suspension gives in...

etc... etc... Trashy little car Grrrr

you people are all insane! how could you hate pontiac? look at some of their older cars; the trans am, grand prix, parisienne, etc, all nice cars! the 1988+ pontiacs aren't as good, but they still look good, imo.

Erm Alex, I'm not sure if I've missed the point, but all the way through your post, I'm thinking that you're describing the indescribably awful, ugly, meritless Hyundai Atoz, and then you go post a picture of a Daewoo Matiz...

Oh, and LoudMusic: Thanks.

Yep its all down to insurance, although I really do need another car.

It's all down to taste. 16" isn't big. I've got 17"s on my Saxo, and I know someone who's got 19"s on theirs. People want different things from their cars. I can't understand why some people ca'nt see the other side of the coin, blinded by their own ignorance.

Now the saxo is a nice lil fast car and I have seen them in mags with 19"s but its not a bog standard saxo is it? is going to be the VTS (or is it VTR I cant remember) model not some 1.2 liter version.

Some don't give a stuff how fast it goes, just want it to look and sound good. Maybe cost, might just be want they want. No harm in that. Jut you wait till you get wasted by a Calibra Turbo powered Nova. Should wipe the smile off your face...or do I detect a little jealousy?

I understand what you mean, I have seen some ford Ka`s with decent looking kits, but underneath they are just bog standard ka`s, I have no problem with that. Its just the fact around my area they are all small engine models, with really shoddy looking bodykits that are half falling off or just dont fit properly. Ive heard of people sqeezing in those calibra turbo engines into the nova that is just maaad, I wouldnt mind having one of those :D
Heh if someone wastes me with a Calibra Turbo engined Nova, ill just go and put an escort cosworth engine in my fiesta, thatl learn em

Yes, but the sad fact is that the predominance of modified small cars is in visuals rather than mechanics. This means that such modifications are pure vanity. You get people driving up and down up and down at like 15mph with the drainpipe exhaust and the stereo competing with each other. Sad fact is, even with the fancy alloys, stereo, bodykit et al, it's STILL a Nova, but you've spent £10k on it!

And I think that people who drive 1.3 Escorts dressed up to look like Cosworths should be shot.

Well, maybe not shot, but certainly publicly flogged.

You have those as well where you live?
There is one of those a few roads down from me, the thing is that the front end, you could be looking at the real deal, but when you look at the rear its just a bog standard escort.

I think the next car Im going to get is a Toyota Treuno, because it looks....................cool!

Why is that sad? If given one car for free, I'd take a Ford Sierra RS500 over any exotic car, Ferrari ,etc. Afterall, it's 'only' a Ford underneath. If someone wants to spend £10k on a Nova, then rock on. I've seen people splash £15k on a 106, but why not? No need to shoot them.

:example: I'm 17. I like the Escort Cosworth. I can't afford one, but I want a car that looks cool. So, I but the kit and the wheels. Haven't got the quick engine, for cost reasons, but I've got a good looking car. When I'm old, and rich enough to bag a Cosworth I will do. No harm in that.

Let me guess, you're an avid reader of Evo or Autocar?

P.s. There isn't anyone within North London that's got a louder stereo than me, fact :)

Anybody with eleventybillion dollars and some thoughts can design a car, it doesn't take balls. :P Just look around, the more money somebody has to throw at their designs, the more "ballsy" they tend to be. ;)

Another one, how 'bout Fiat Multipla.

The design is utermost unbalanced, interior is the most disfunctional I've ever seen, even compare it w/ the Aztek.

And they said, it one of Europe's best minivan/wagon. :yuck:
hard to swallow there.

I guess that what I don't understand is the pretence. It's window-dressing. The 1.3 Escort with the Cosworth body kit isn't cool to me, because the Cosworth body kit was necessitated by the performance of the car. By kitting a base-model car you're pretending that your car needs the body kit because you wish people to believe that it's a quicker car than it actually is.

But then you're talking to someone who adores the M5, RS6 etc because they look like so much less than they actually are.

And yeah, I read the comics from time to time. I used to read Top Gear, Car, Autocar, evo etc every issue, but I cut right down to lessen some of my monthly outgoings. Now I read Autosport on subscription, Car whenever I'm travelling (which, OK, is quite frequent!!), and Autocar whenever there's something interesting on the cover.

- Son I was your age a few years ago

Now follow my advice

- "Don't spice up your rice" , is a logo that must be adhered to by all standards , most of us enthusiasts laugh at posers , we email and even upload images of a pose car on bbs , where hundreds of other people laugh at the car (anti-rice.com , soh.com)

- You don't have any money , yet you have enough money to create the loudest car system in your area (pointless) ? Son , stop spending all that truckloads of money on stereos and spend it on a car .

;)

HAHAHAHAHAH :) If you actually watch all these guys that are putting just kits on their cars etc, because they "can't afford" to buy more, then you will notice that they think they are fast-even when they are not. I would not mind "vanity" cars soo much, if they didn't have the attitude along with them. Also-if I were given a car I didn't like, free, I'd sell it and spend the money in a more rightful place-like somthing I want or want to modify. -unless I was driving a beater around to save up, in which case I would spend minimal money on the free/beater car. I'd probably sell the new car to get a cheaper beater too, and pocket the money in savings for the later project.

I always say if you start with a fast car, then there is no need to make it faster. If you start with a slow car, then you have to mod it to make it faster, when the faster, stock car is more reliable.

jeepside.jpg

This my friend is a Jeepney.

Heres a quick history:
After World War II , surplus American G.I. jeeps were converted into public utility vehicles to meet the need for more commuter transport in the Philippines. The evolution of the Jeep's form, and function that makes it a Jeepney, spans over 50 years . A period that saw it grow from a plain looking auto calesa of "6" passengers to a well-decorated, technicolored minibus for up to "18" passengers ( or even more! ) . From the standard WWII Jeep, the body was extended, given a lavish dash of folk art, and "trimmings", and Voila! As one popular writer puts it : "The Jeepney is a mobile assemblage of signs, and symbols, decorative motifs and fetishes, rattling along the streets of Metro Manila and other towns throughout the archipelago with a 'Whoopie' that would astonish the designers of the Original Willys' Jeep."Nowhere else in the World, except for the Philippines, can Jeepneys be found. It is uniquely Filipino in it's approach to the mass transit problem. Nothing symbolizes Filipino ingenuity, inovativeness, adaptability, and grit more than this gutsy, cocky, colorful vehicle.

jun.jpg

It is a part of a Philippine culture.

jeepney2.jpg

It is used as either a private or a public transportation vehicle, a cheaper alternative to a bus.

jeepney3.jpg

The Jeepney traces back in the WW II stages, it was inspired from a Willys Jeep made in US.

jeep6.gif

They were powered by either Isuzu or Mitsubishi heavy-duty diesel engines.

4jeeps.gif

These were some parts of the Jeepneys DNA.

jeep1l.jpg

These vehicles can carry a minimum of 15-passengers, its all up to you how much you can carry.

jeep3-l.jpg

Heres the full front view of the vehicle, Philippines calls it a National Car.

To me, its pathetic. :yuck:

BTW thanks to Gerard's Jeepney Collection Website

I think this so far my best post reply yet. :D

My top 5.

5: BMW M5 - What is the point on spending 60K on a car that Holden can do for 40?

4: MINI - Mini's should be British, not German.

3: Smart - Stupid, Manic And Really Tiny.

2: Hyundai Atoz - Shoebox.

1: Fiat Multipla - Fiat should upgrade their design computers because they obviously keep crashing.

You know...in reading these few pages, I've realized something.

I really don't hate any one model car. Sure, I have my preferences, but I don't out-and-out hate any particular model. Particular examples yes - just not the lot of 'em. :)

By kitting a base-model car you're pretending that your car needs the body kit because you wish people to believe that it's a quicker car than it actually is

So I can't add kit to my car, just because I want it to look good?

cuefilez. For someone who is supposedly older than me [er..you know how old I am?] you don't portray your maturity.

You see, what I really don't get is this 'anti-rice' love. You're older than me, so I'm hoping more mature. With age, comes the ability to rise above. I, along with many people like me, laugh at you, the "enthusiast" [please...look up that word...you can be an enthusiast about anything. You are no more an enthusiast than I.] because you get so worked up and so excited at pointing out 17 years olds in their nova. It's a little sad, and to me, a complete waste of time. I see people like you every day, racing down the M1, in your Vectra, copy of Evo on the passenger seat.

Grow up.

Why is having a loud system pointless? It's like saying having a quick computer is pointless. I have it because I want it. I enjoy car stereo. Always will do. I compete, in SPL competitions. Body bulders get bigger muscles, do compete. I get bigger amps to compete. I can't see anything wrong in what I'm doing.

I have the money to buy a very nice car. I can't however justify spending £2000+ a year to get me insured on it. It's a stupid thing to do. I could do it, but choose not to. 2 years time, I will be driving something very nice, but until then, I will choose to spend my money on my car, as and how I please.

And I haven't spent a 'truckload' on the sound system.

Reading one issue of Evo doesn't put you on a higher level than other car enthusiast. It's verging on pathetic when you can't see the other side of the coin.

Quite, quite sad.
