Was thinking that I when I posted it. Still, there is a worrying amount that aren't calling it out and even worse, enabling it.

But for every (OK, maybe not every) self-styled patriot who proclaims the US to be the "world's greatest democracy" there is one who insists "it's a republic, not a democracy". Democracy for thee but not for me. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere between the two if this Wikipedia summary of the Democracy index has anything to say about it.
