Disney would likely want an extension. Just because. I mean...it's Disney. But they don't need it. Disney will still have the trademark and the copyrights for later incarnations will have yet to expire.3) If Disney gets copyright extended any further it would be an absolute crime. Steamboat willie goes into the public domain starting 2024, almost 100 years (98 apparently) after it first aired. For reference, Patents get 20 years.

There's always a, "we've had ENOUGH" claim. I just think of a quote by Conor McGregor whenever I see it now:

This doesn't affect me at all as I'm not worried about the former and the latter don't spend mine, but even I can see the two statements aren't mutually exclusive.
