I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that murder is actually worse than rape. I wouldn't think that to be controversial, but you never know with people.

Sexual abuse of children, not just rape. I think sexually abusing children is a horrible thing to do.

Worse than murdering them? I'm not sure.

When you've been murdered, you also don't spend the rest of your life with the burden of the experience...

That seems a pretty weird take on it. The opportunity for that person to continue their life in any way is completely lost. The opportunity for their loved ones to continue their lives with them in any way is completely lost.

But still rape.

I think sexually abusing children is a horrible thing to do.
Hey, you're not going to get any kind of objection from me to that assertion. But murder is worse.

Edit: Is sexually abusing a minor worse than sexually abusing an adult*? Why?

*Not to be confused with consensual activities with a sadomasochistic bent.

How is it weird to take the emotional health of a rape victim into consideration? I'm only offering some nuance, not a hard conclusion about one being worse than the other. I said what is written there. Nothing between the lines.

Victims of rape can find (and have found) the will to live after the incident. Nobody who has died--be it from natural causes or at the hands of another (or their own*), accidental or with intent--has been able to live after the incident.

*Edit to add. And as an extension of that, nobody who has committed suicide has regretted doing so.

Both are horrible in my opinion. I can imagine someone who has been sexually abused as a child having a hard time and then going through life being constantly reminded of being sexually abused (as a child).

But still rape.

I don't know which one is worse, I know both are horrible.

I don't know what "is" worse but in my opinion, someone who sexually abuses a child is a special kind of evil.

I can imagine someone taking that reminder and using it as motivation to not only help others with whom they share that experience but also be a force for change.

What actually constitutes rape in this country (and perhaps others) has been expanded from earlier definitions due in no small part to the efforts of victims.

There's a stigma surrounding sexual abuse and rape, one that makes victims think twice about coming forward, and perpetrators of these acts are aided by this stigma to go unpunished. Those victims who have come forward serve as inspiration for others.

I don't know which one is worse, I know both are horrible.
I mean...

...

Well, that's awkward.

I don't know what "is" worse but in my opinion, someone who sexually abuses a child is a special kind of evil.
What makes them special?

And what do you mean by "special"? In this context, it seems like a substitute for "worse".

@TexRex I really see no point in having a discussion with you in a political meme thread about which type sexual abuse is worse. We are not going to agree so I'm going to leave it at that. I gave my opinion on the issue, I don't have more to offer you. Congrats on your win.

I'm not saying they don't matter or anything like that. But I do feel it's important to keep things in perspective. Comics like the one I responded to only serve to spread fear, which makes people irrational, which leads to absolutely nothing getting accomplished towards actually solving the issue. Than the next shooting happens and we repeat the same pointless cycle.

I know what you're getting at but that's an absurd statement; so surreal to be expecting another mass murderer on a shooting spree.

Sad isn't it? But until we as a society get off our lazy asses and start actually making changes ourselves, the planet is doomed. This goes for global warming as well since both are (imo) not problems we can legislate ourselves out of.

I don't understand how pointing out that a country seems divided is supposed to be adding to its division.
Because by depicting President Trump alone, it absolves many, many others from their roles in dividing the country, and reassures anti-Trump readers that Trump and his supporters are to blame for it all. It could be a relatively mild cartoon in "peacetime" from all this crap, but the way things are, anything as partisan as that cartoon is adding to the country's division.
