So, I've had the game since Christmas, but I've never been able to work up enough courage to race online since I thought I would be a moving roadblock. Since the game is closer to a sim than anything else I've ever played, I figured the online community would be similar to iRacing, with guys way more experiencedand better than me. Today, I finally plunged into a random online lobby that was having races in the Super Karts. At least it was a track I was farmiliar with - Sonoma Short. So I loaded up into the track and had a ten minute qualifying season, where I managed a sixth place on the grid. Wow, okay!

I managed to get two people off the line, pass two guys who had an incident, and battled with the leader for a bit, and came home second...all the while using a DS4! I'm usually not that great of a driver, but I even suprised myself. Sent the guy who won a "Great race, fun battle" message, just because I enjoyed it so much. Can't wait to see what other races I can get into!

I thought driving the Caterham would be a walk in the park, with its light, nice balanced body and being underpowered... How wrong was I? Always on its tiptoes, this car requires full concentration and constant corrections to be able to extract a fast lap.

In the end, it's very rewarding and enjoyable.

Nordschleife TT RWD P30 LMP1 5-43-911 lap+setup. When recording the setup I realized I had different RH for each side on the rear :D Was suppose to be the higher value... Testing continues :) At 6th place yesterday!!

Few changes to the tune and managed to improve my time :)👍

Any tips getting closer to 5:40's Mr. @Zakspeed_TV :D I mean obviously I'm making few mistakes and just by driving better I could shave almost second or so (would probably be my maximum) but could you give me some pointers about ride height, spring rates and downforce :D and does gears effect much, should I try to go closer?? :D heheh naah, not expecting you to give it all to me just like that, but if you got any tips how I could shave off some time just by tuning bit differently I would really appreciate it ;) (and of course if I'm obviously going too slow at some point please give me a hint :D )

Oh yeah hanks for posting your FFB settings, had to lower the sensitivity quite a bit but otherwise they feel great :)👍

Great lap mate 👍 i set my time a long time ago think 5.0, so not sure what has changed as i haven't been on it since. I would probably do a fresh setup if i was to hit it again, i need too but its just finding the time.

Try running lower cambers 👍

Thanks man :) first sector is pretty solid I think but I'm loosing half a second in the middle and in the end... Pretty boring that the game keeps changing so much that the leaderboards should probably be cleaned during every update lol :D I mean probably doesn't matter so much on a shorter track, but tire heats etc. may come to play when pushing full speed for over 5 minutes... heheheh naah, me being only 5 seconds behind the world lead tells me the game can't be any slower than it was when those times were set :D I think while going after leaderboards in GT6 I was something like 10 seconds slower than the world lead at the nurb so.. heheh well it's a bit different game, but I'm really missing the TT action so nice to see you're setting up times AND sharing videos... always good to look faster drivers at work, I've learned many things this way so having the recorder on the PS4 is a brilliant idea and just by looking at my own laps I can't find places where to drive differently and it also helps to remember the braking points etc... AND preserving my tunes this way has been great tool, I can look at my old setups while playing from my lap top so it's pretty convenient :)

I would probably do a fresh setup if i was to hit it again, i need too but its just finding the time.

Heh well if you set up a new lap time I'd LOVE to see the setup :dopey: I'm sort of learning the tuning thing all over again for even though I think I had some good ideas about tuning when I was younger (playing GT4) being on a long brake before starting again bit before GT6 was released I found out that nothing that I remembered was working and after playing GT6 for few years I came to realize that the GT physics just were somehow so crappy that making changes in the tune really doesn't even do anything much so it was kinda pointless guessing game  starting to play Pcars some 4 moths a go it really was a bit of shock to realize that I can actually affect the handling of the car DRAMATICALLY and it really is quite brilliant fun trying out different setups and trying to learn what it all means first of all  heheh so yeah, seeing other peoples tunes is always really helpful and helps to extend my own understanding :) heheh so yeah, thanks for the setups you're already sharing, seeing the driving too is also really important to understand how to use the tune :)

Heh quite funny you mentioned this for after ending up in a pretty good conversation with Jussi Karjalainen at Pcars forum he managed to open up the world of dampers to me and as I was doing a bit of testing on friday with better knowledge on damping I managed to find some more grip in the corners and that made me lower the dampers with few points already :) 👍 NOT understanding quite so clearly the difference between fast and slow damping had made me do some stupid stuff in the tuning section but now I think I'm starting to have those figures under control and just in a short test I noticed quite good results :dopey: so thanks for the tip I'll be looking at those camber figures a bit more when I get myself out there on the track again, first really warm weekend here in finland and we had a bit of a grilling party yesterday and I don't think I want too much excitement today

Heheh so yeah, thanks for the tips, setups and the videos  have a great sunday
