I know this may be a complication you didn't want to consider for what seems like avery straightforward competition, but one of the biggest appeals of most rounds of the Sixaxis championship and Event 02 has been the possibility of competing against people of your own level and gradually working your way up to the big boys. No David and Goliath situations. I'd be so disappointed to get paired randomly with Timo or Bruno or Spy in my first race. It's acase of "Oh great, I'm racing someone who's 5 secs a lap faster". Ok slight exaggeration but hopefully you get the idea.

How about a system of seeding and champions league format?

1) A limited number of spaces, first come first served.
2) Groups of 4, two D1/D2 and two lower Div members
3) Everyone races each other once (or twice) with points awarded in mini-league format and the top 2 in the group progress to the knockout stages
4) A "Second round" KO stage, a QF, SF then final.

For drivers without registry divisions, maybe just a little research or mini qualifier while Sixaxis and Event 02 are finishing to arrange their seedings and group placements?

Just some thoughts, shoot em down at will :D

hi Maz... i know what you mean but i think this should be dofferent from Event 2... mixing all the guys its exciting... dont look at divisions.. some surprises could happen.. 👍

Great stuff. Although I have to agree with Maz that a round robin will give everyone a fairer crack at the whip. It's not going to be much fun to be paired up in the first round with an elite driver. It'll just end up being one big, fat spanking and back to the paddling pool for the loser. :dunce:

Wouldn't that just essentially make it a clone of the GTP events? I thought the idea with this one was that anyone could race anyone unlike the divisions - and also allowing non-tagged drivers to enter more easily.

But you would get paired with anybody randomly. The group you are in would be a mix of 4 different ability levels, you wouldn't really be racing anyone of your own ability all the time like in Event 02.

for example
1st race vs D1 gold
2nd race vs D2 gold
3rd race vs D4 bronze

That way, you'd get 3 whole races against people of mixed ability before it was time to say goodbye, not just one spanking by someone 5 seconds a lap faster.

Maz, thanks for the suggestion.

I have taken it on-board but I would like to keep it this way.

Although Event 2 was huge success, I would like to play on that give everyone a chance to race anyone. I know people in lower divisions who can easily punch above their division weight, you included.

I did think about a racing league and can explain to you in a PM what conclusion I came too, and why it isnt suitable for the facilities we have now.

As for people wanting to know when this competition is starting, just stay tuned :sly: We are expecting an event update on the 25th - 26th, and many still have the final of Event 2. My other competition is coming to a close so expect more news towards the end of the month, beginning of April maybe earlier :sly: Stay tuned.

Thanks to everyone that has signed up 👍 Honestly didnt expect this many people so quickly! Looking to be a fun competition :)

Hello guys I am new to online events, as this will be my first. Just to clarify, are we actually racing againts to members we are paired up against in realtime or as a time trial?

PS

I work funny hours midweek and so am unable to race in the evenings, my only real time to play reliably would be the weekends.

Are the races going to be on a weekly basis, and if we are racing against members realtime, how do we actually pair up so we race against only the poeple we are assigned too?

Sorry to be a complete newb :)


As for ranked match ups, I much rather prefer being a dark horse;)
