The Rolex Sports Car Series- Season 2! Finished! Thanks Everyone!

What should the best tire we use for Season 3 be?

Track considerations:
  • Monaco - For the life of me, I couldn't think of how double class work well. Maybe a preseason there? Couldn't be worse than the fiasco at Rome, surely?
  • Motegi - Considering my reputation in Japan, I imagine I'll end up using the wrong pit lane if we went there. DO IT!
  • Deep Forest - Decent course, but don't feel it with Grand Valley already on the schedule.
  • Trial Mountain - Great course. I can fly round this course, or just generally fly at that corner.
  • Autumn Ring - Great potential. Technical, with some nice areas for DP lapping, but some horrid ones to (guess where I'd be caught up :sly: ). Not to mention corner cutting
possibly being an issue where we join the Mini course.
  • SSR5 - I wouldn't mind this track to be honest. I know when it got technical, DP lapping GT was made extremely awkward, but that section for Autumn Ring (mentioned in last point). Shame we can't avoid the invisibility glitch that is the sole reason I wouldn't choose it.
  • Cape Ring South - Can't remember racing here. I remember doing the inside tonnes of times, and that Ring is a show stealer, but that jump? No thanks.
  • Madrid - The course can really be a pain at points. Worse than Tokyo & SSR5, though not as bad as Monaco. However, Monaco has that feel.

Personal order:
1 - Motegi. (Though DLC will have people objecting)
2 - Monaco, provided we try it in preseason and get it to work.
3 - Autumn Ring (the corner cut is negligible compared to Spa)
4 - Trial Mountain
5 - SSR5, if no Monaco and we can get to work
6 - Cape Ring South.
7 - Deep Forest
8 - Madrid

Daytona
Indy
Spa
Laguna seca
Tokyo
Nurb gp/f
Suzuka
Grand valley

2 more tracks.
SSR5 or Monaco - Another city track would do nicely. We already know about SSR5, so preseason at Monaco would be needed to test, as AIN has said already.

Trial Mountain - A great track to drive, but challenge for the classes and for the drivers. It would need a preseason test first.

Monza - Yeah there's been problems and incidents there, but something tells me that the curse will lift for next season. Third time's a charm, right? A historic track, draft battles galore, and its not like we don't have an option to race without the first chicane anyway.

Sarthe - The "no chicance" version of the 2009 layout may not be so bad to test in preseason. Sure its a long track, but the lack of chicanes around mulsanne will speed it up.

In short, one more EU track and one more original track will do me fine. Aside from the Big 3, There would be 2 EU tracks, 2 original tracks and 2 japanese tracks; 2 of which being city circuits. Going for a massive balance of everything here.

Prehaps Monza no first chicane?

Fugi, this time with picture rules about track boundaries?

I would prefer no Monza. Polar I know you could put some pretty pictures up about Fuji. I want to go back there and redeem myself.

I'm leaning towards no Monza also, it just hates our guts.

We have Spa, which will be awesome if the pre season race was anything to go by.

Why can't we have a nice street circuit that's nice and wide? Tokyo is great for us, we just need another!

I was fine with SSR5. In season 2, I won 4 times. Two of those tracks will no longer be on the schedule if we go with what we have so far.

SSR5 is the wider than Madrid and Monaco. It's only the high speed left-right, right-left and final chicane that are somewhat problematic. Its all just where you catch people for that track, whereas at the other two, nearly everywhere is a problem in a two-class series with a high performance difference and high lap count.

The first left-hander is wide, with a little consideration for the medium-right into a slow hairpin leading to the first aformentioned problem area. The slowest hairpin is hugely wide. The two right-handers leading to the tunnel after that hairpin are wide. The tunnel is wide. The second mentioned problem area needs a bit of filtering and consideration, but after that upto the start/finish line is also wide.

Anyone have any major objections to SSR5 in season 3?

I had no problems passing at SSR5. I just made sure that I was patient in GT traffic.

If I remember right, I had just watched some overtakes at the Belle Island Rolex race before I raced at SSR5. I didn't want to be Richard Westbrook and destroy my car like he did while he was winning. Nothing against Westy though. That team has won more races than any other team this year.

I could have won there, and I'll blame my last chicane slam into a wall for being caught up. Had I not messed that section up, the following events would not have happened. I have no problems with SSR5.

I think SSR5 is the ticket!

In no order

Daytona
Indy
Laguna
Spa
Tokyo
Suzuka
SSR5
Fuji
Grand Valley
Nurb gp/f

That looks good. 👍 I would rather have Le Mans than Suzuka, but I'm ok with Suzuka over Le Mans.

I have no problems with it not being there, despite the fact that I love it ever so much.

Just thought it'd be nice to have it in preseason with no chicanes, just to see how it goes. :D

Sheesh!

I just don't think we will use it.

Preseason-

Suzuka
Indy
Nurb gp/d

Given how the rest of the track goes, it'll be a test of tuning. I already have a plan. :D

Transmission settings will be a nightmare :scared:

@Polar: Let's try Fuji in the preseason also to make sure the extra space for run-offs isn't abused.

Alright, so 3 preseason races? Or 4?

Pre season races on the tracks that we have problems at. I want to get the season going asap, so sooner the hetter for me.

Any idea what car specs would be? I'd like to start testing today if possible.

Check out the spot race link in my signature :)

I've tested the Camaro and the Audi so far. Both are able to be within one tenth of each other on Suzuka with a basic tune. Both are really easy to drive right out of the box. 458 is up next. 👍
