The Rolex Sports Car Series, Season 3! Finished! Thanks Everyone!

What about the championship points?

Well, I thought I was coming home after school today; and I was going to do them then. But, my mom picked me up right after and we're in the car to Chicago for thanksgiving. So, I will be able to make them Friday once I'm at my grandparents house.

Very sorry, no one tells me *** anymore :(

The Camaro is very comfortable to drive. I'm surprised Sail wasn't on top with you guys on saturday, because despite the speed of both the Lotus and the Ferrari, I reckon I could give you hassle with it. ;)

Hey gang,

So far I am having a great time in this series and I am up for a spot race on Saturday as well.

I have to throw this out there though. The Chevy, at the current specs is NOT competitive in this series. In fact, it is last when it comes to performance.

Now now, before you all get excited, what I mean by that is, it suffers from the top end blues, no matter what I do to the transmission. After Fuji, I tested it with 3 of my online homies, including one who has placed in the top 10 on the online time trials on occasion. We all determined that the power is in the middle, and lacks top end (at the current specs). Max it out and it’s a different animal. We tested them all with the current specs and several tracks. The Chevy came up short the most.

The Chevy is fantastic on courses that have lots of turns. I (we) were able to harness the mid-range power from it (gears 2-5), and come up with a decent finish at Nurb GP/F and Daytona RC. But still, on Nurb, that RX-8 came from the back and blew by me with a few laps to go. On Fuji, I was passed like I was standing still as top is its weakness. Stick it on the straights, its turtle slow.

The RX-8’s sheer light weight and rotary power. The Italia’s (which is one of GT5’s ringer cars), has tremendous handling and front downforce. The Audi’s front downforce as well and being AWD coupled with the V10 makes for a very stable ride. The Evora seems to have insane speed as well, makes the Chevy earn every place. In fact, the Italia’s will most likely dominate.

Yes, we all tune cars differently (and we all have different driving styles as well). You all have found some balance with the GT cars for this series, but the Chevy is a bit behind in competitiveness. I chose it because I wanted to be able to get the most out of that brute V8. It’s a learning curve and I am going to stick with it. Not sure how it did in the last series. And, my teammate is MIA, so I can’t collaborate with him.

Just a thought, not a complaint, but an observation gang. Looking forward to the spot race on Saturday. I may jump in the R8, as I was able to keep up with FH77 in the spot race before making a mistake through the bus stop near the end.

Catch you all later!

Are you running any power mods on the car? From the replays, your car is pretty quiet. Never paid attention to the exhaust to see what kind you were running.

I always run the racing exhaust, cat converter and ecu. Those mods will always raise my rpm's. My transmission is always set up to have shorter gears so I can stay in the powerband. So the extra rpm's help me there.

The aero helps out a lot now with speed since the new update. But I always run aero at a max anyway, so I havent tested it myself. I'm more in favor of grip than speed, so I doubt I'll go into any kind of extensive testing.

When I did spec testing, I always felt that the Camaro was on the "safe" side. I was kind of surprised how easy it was to drive. Never really paid attention to the speed though.

I can hop on tonight and do some testing at SSR5. Last night I was able to get into the 1:24's with the 458. I dont think its too bad. I still need to get familiar with the course. That long stretch going into turn one is going to be crazy. But I think its a key point on the track that can make or break your lap.

All I'm running on this puppy is the weight reduction. I always thought and sometimes it feels that, reducing the power from adding parts is a negative. Especially when its +25%or more. Right now its about 98.x% reduced to meet the HP requirements. I needed to add 2kg to meet the weight requirements as well.

I will try a few parts like you mentioned, and throw it on the test track and practice on on SSR5 tonight as well.

The Camaro is a fantasic handling car no doubt. It just lacks the b*@$s at this HP for now.

Thanks!

That's why I call it the "Slomaro"

This is the first time I've properly driven round SSR5 and I love it so far! Really hoping I can finally get a decent result with the Audi. Anyone got any times yet? So far my best is a 1:24.3

Edit: Oh wait I'm guessing not many people because SSR5 isn't this saturday.

Audi should be pretty good because of all the mixture of turns. You need to watch out for front tire wear. I remember that I could run a good 3 laps more on rear tires than fronts and that was on soft tires and before PD fixed the tire wear issue. BTW: I was in a rear wheel drive DP.

After about 10 laps of running the tyre ware seems to be completely even across front and back. This could change as they ware more though but at the moment I'm going for lap times instead of how long I can run for.

It might have just been my setup last year in DP. I won the race. I haven't tested at SSR5 yet because the race is a long way away.

I think they wa the tyres wear has changed in the update. I did remember something was said somewhere about that.....

Take a few laps in practice mode so you can race against your ghost. With the installed parts you should be coming out of the corners a little faster because of the change in the hp/tq curve. You should be hitting the peak sooner. My goal is to adjust the transmission to hit the peak when I shift.

Dude, you did have a look at the pit strategy AND the tyre condition of my car before you made that Nurburgring observation, right? I had to rely on that to get past you, purely because you did such a good job defending and I just didn't have the pace to get past you any other way. I probably did have enough pace to

In any case, I'll ping the car around Nurburgring GP/F. I'll have a look at your best time and the best time of the race, and see how I fare in the Camaro. In practice, I was actually better in the Camaro than the Ferrari, but blew everything else out the window in the Lotus, prior to it's bump down.

Okay, so I've done 6 laps in the Camaro, 420 bhp & 1320 kg. In the one proper hotlap I did, where I didn't mess up.... 2:02.7.

Yeah.... I did just set that time with 10 less bhp. I don't want to try the other cars....

Also, my Camaro dropped to 414 bhp.... still going 2:02.7 and 2:02.8, so I know that I can go faster.

I hope it does too. It's been kinda overshadowed at Daytona, and Nurbrugring by the looks of it. I woulda thought the cornering aspect would have put the Audi right up there on Saturday.... I guess not....

Still, I'm hoping the car does well. Hey, if you fancy it, try out my Audi on the setup its on at the moment. I've not changed the settings since I last drove it, but it's up for sharing if you wanted to take it for a spin and maybe get some inspiration if it helps.

Oh, latest update guys. I did a 2:02.774 then a 2:02.496 in the Camaro SS the next lap.... Still on 420 bhp & 1320 kg. At one point in the 2:02.496, I was 0.4 seconds up on the 2:02.774....

LOL, no doubt. 1:26.456 was my fastest lap out of 5 quick laps tonight on SSR5. She always seems to be about 1.5-2.0 seconds off behind the pace. I guess there is room for improvement there. I tried adding some parts, then bringing down the power. Times were the same.

The "S" curve out of the tunnel is going to be interesting. The first right is a bit blinded by darkness, then you need to make sure you are well past the wall on the left before entering the left hander past the trees. Stay off the walls, and it should be a good race.

Sooo.... The Camaro is doing 1:26.4 for you?

I tested the Camaro just now, and I did a 1:25.1. Wanna hear the worst part?

Cut back on power, full aero and basic tune?

Really? I always hate to put full down force the rear of the Chevy. I don't want anything else to slow it down. LOL. It may be down to driving style now.

So you used all stock settings for LSD, suspension etc. and lowered the HP?

Thing is setup only makes the car feel better a tad so, only in some you can end with an extreme setup that can make it faster, it probably just shows you need to push it harder :P.

I'll give it a try 👍

Also Nurburgring was kinda my fault because I messed up on the first lap and never managed to rejoin the lead pack.

I'm very lucky. I have to leave for Lake Tahoe this weekend, but I'll be missing a no-points race here and in ALMS, while in the F10 series I don't have Motegi so I won't be able to race anyway. :D

The car was cut back to 400 bhp. Full Aero, Transmission tuned to 180 mph.

I use a somewhat similar tune on all my cars actually so I'm not sure how basic it is, but it's one I'm comfortable with, so for me it's a pretty fast one.

Howdy! You haven't missed too much, we're having a fun race this week, then SSR5 next Saturday!

That's great, I hope to race with you guys again. I'll be available when the races take place, of course. Just shoot me a PM if I can join and I'll try my best to be there. :D
