The Rolex Sports Car Series, Season 4 Discussion!

OK. It's about time I got some input here.

I reckon an 11 race calender would be nice if we were to have a "drop-race" so that it feels like we have a nicely rounded 10 point scoring races.

For the tracks, I would maybe consider Monaco for a city circuit. Granted it's narrow, but so are the other leading extra city circuits. The difference is that Monaco is mostly slow and tight; whereas Rome is folly and Madrid has fast sections going into tight areas.

This may or may not be in place of SSR5. As good as SSR5 is for a city circuit & night race; the track does bug too often. Whole sections going invisible is really off-putting, especially when you want to aim for the apex.

Elsewhere, I want to have Monza in the preseason just to see if it's anti-Rolex regime lives on. As much as I hate the course, it is better than Fuji. Ok I don't think it's better than Fuji, but the corner cutting would be more limited... Maybe not. Or maybe we come down harder on the whole corner cutting affair.

Elsewhere, I wouldn't mind Deep Forest, Autumn Ring or Trial Mt. being given a go.

So, you done talking to me?

You still plan on running DP on mediums Polar?

Oh yes obviously never ever ever talking to you again :dopey:

Polar aren't we going to run no abs next year?

SSR5 hasn't bugged for me before. I may suggest having a lounge instead of a lobby? That might help stabilize connections.

The physics are the same between the lounge and lobby now it seems. So there shouldn't be anything wrong.

Ok, so I've been testing the Ferrari 458 Italia at new specs. Granted, they're not exactly much different from the Season 3 specs, but the car is a little heavier with a bit more bhp.

So far, with a 420 bhp & 1350 kg, the car has ran around Suzuka, Nurburgring GP/D and Daytona. I did have Spa and Moncao, but I'm going to retest them.

Suzuka - 2:05.5
Nur GP/D - 1:30.2
Daytona - 1:48.9

Now I'm pretty sure that the car CAN do better, but I don't have the car fully worn in (using upgrades to improve it til it does), and I don't do enough laps against my ghost to improve it. I'm only doing a 5-6 laps at a time aswell, so it's not like I'm warming the tyres up much, either. The car, needless to say, is a cornering beast! The more worrying thing is that despite the downforce levels, and the torque curve that comes with having to limit the car's bhp so much, it's top end speed is really good. I think the 7-speed gearbox helps it a little too, overall.

Has there been a draft yet?

Right now, I think all the returning full season GT competitors have already picked. They have chosen on the season 3 thread. I can't tell you off the top of my head who picked what.

After reading the OP, I wouldn't mind seeing the R390 racecar, F1 GTR, and CLK get used. It would give me a reason to use my F1 if I could get a spot. Either way though, I don't care. It's just an opinion I had.

We thought about that, but Seth's series uses those cars and no one likes a copy cat!

Very true. Anybody have an R390 road car they can give to me?

Can't send the car :(

And the draft has been going, all of your options are still open (top two picked the same car, so you would've been behind them anyways)

Yeah and I believe the 458 is filled too.

Storm, I would really appreciate that if you could. I want determine all options before I make a decision.

If you raced with us on Sunday in 90s FIA you'd have a reason to use it. TnT and Anthony have joined in, so we have 4 full time GT1 drivers.

They're called Prototypes, why not use prototypes? Although the all R390 idea isn't that bad.

Well, in real life, there is only one R390 road car chassis in existence. So, you could actually consider it a prototype.

Me and tbw are piloting the Aston in the Spot Race, while he and you, Ross, are in the Italia for Season 4...

Sorry, I didn't wanna spoil everyone's debate by stating there were, in fact, two. :) One is kept at a Nissan warehouse. The other? 🤬 knows...

I was the first to test the R390, surprisingly. I mentioned it before Season II.

It seems to handle/look more like a real DP car, than the Minolta.

Problem with those cars is the weird power band. Tapping the throttle results in much more wheelspin than in the R390, which makes the R390 feel better to drive, too.

Add in the changeability of colours, rims, and other personal touches, and all of a sudden, the whole field can be "customized" to match with one's desired team "look."

The Minolta is one of the easiest prototypes to drive in GT5. I think along with the Bentley Speed 8 and Oreca Audi R8 it's the smoothest driving prototype there is. Couple that with 500hp you ran it at it's simple to keep straight. This R390 has over 600hp now and less overall downforce. Definitely not as easy to drive as the 88 CV.

I found the R390 ok, but then I don't expect to be able to mash the throttle after every corner exit.
