The RUF thread.

2 year bump, Bringing the RUF thread back from the dead.

anybody tried using actual porsche specs on the ruf's? i used the 1992 turbo specs for my yellow bird, it was an amazing ride.

Yes, I've been doing that a lot... My GT3RS replicas are amazing. Got 25 orders already.

Now trying 930 Turbo 3.0 and 3.3 specs :)

Forza is going to release lots of actual Porche cars....come on GT5
No: Forza lost the licence to have Porsche's in there current or future games, EA took it back, was to much of a threat to they're sells, Also RUF is it's own "independent german automotive brand", they are highly respected in the automotive world especially the CTR yellow bird.

They're are 2 RUF car's in Forza 4.

From this recent article: It's a good read and an insightful video . A minor criticism is that the host/narrator calls it a Roof. It's Rough. The owner says it a few times toward the middle.

I think all hell might break loose if PD doesn't include a single premium RUF in the next game. Where's my CTR3 or the RGT-8 or the Yellow Bird?

Do they understand that they're on thin ice or is that just my opinion?

I don't think they understand they are on thin ice. Otherwise, they would have used RUFs as a good replacement for Porsche cars in GT5.

The pronounciation "roof" is correct by the way.

Yea, I cannot believe I explained it backwards in my post. Roof is the proper way to say it. The host says rough.

I also think he called the CTR3 a GTR3, but that's just nitpicking.

By the way, I like your sig quotes.

That happens, no big deal.

Thanks! I wish it would be different. but I think that the guys nailed it with those sentences.

Assuming that there was no chance for PD to get their hands on the old RUFs again to make them premium, there still would have been the chance to make premium models of current RUFs. Regarding the mindset of Alois Ruf, I'm absolutely sure he would have given them the cars to do that. Thus, my conclusion is that PD didn't ask, which is such a waste of an important license, even more so because they didn't get Porsches.

@obi_one: good work, love it! 👍

Man I would love a premium BTR, CTR2 and yellow bird. If they do a RUF pack those three must be in there in my opinion. Really love the 993 Porsches as well.

I share your opinion.

I would really enjoy a look behind the scenes on this topic. Is it indifference, stubbornness or ineptitude? And what were the decisions that has lead to this situation? I would love to see PD's process of selection for makes and models (not just RUF).

Yea, it's not just RUF....there's a plethora of missing manufacturers from GT5. With the large gap between GT4 and GT5, one would think there'd be at least one premium Cadillac, Pontiac, Plymouth, Bugatti, Chrysler, Saleen, Spyker.

With rumors of a Vita-based GT, I can imagine that PD is going nuts with GT6 and Vita development.

The ice is so dangerously thin and I imagine many others agree with us.

You open the topic even more. The RUF/Porsche issue is just one of many. There's a lot of work to do just to catch up, and I do genuinely hope that PD is ahead of all our speculation.

There's what many refer to here as "Kaz's vision" (which seems to be some arbitrary answer to why things are the way they are) and then there's business. Where do the two run parallel? And just how much leniency will Sony grant Kaz when it comes to GT6?

Ultimately, what percentage of market share is Sony prepared to lose?

As a business strategy aside; what if Turn 10 were to leverage Sony enough to release FM5 on the new PS4. All is fair in love and war.
