Not long to go until tonights 3rd race. Will overall speed be the key here, or will pushing too hard claim some victims of the armco barriers. Dont forget the minimum laps for the medium tyre is 5.

Well what a race. After the disturbances in the world wide web that gave us some problems connecting, we finally all got into the room. There were still some issues, Jamesy couldnt see Dan, and Omnius got dceed. Was good to see different tyre strategys being played out, and some close battles throughout the race. I will post the final results tomorrow, and we will see if my earlier prediction for the standings is correct. In the meantime gentlemen, congratulations to the podium, and thank you for the racing.👍👍👍

After you were doing donuts in T3?

Hmmm.. I never saw Jamesy at all.. I started the race 2nd and finished 2nd... ??

Jamesy was definatlely there. Wish PD would sort this glitch. Total race times for the podium...

Cobani...36:27.296
Jamesybograt...36:37.046
Kor_Hellrazor...36:48.496

Next time we will have to make sure everyone can see each other.. Damn game.. PD :ouch:

Well done again to Cobani, and Jamesy also 👍

We will do a roll call. After the initial online problems at the start, it was probably an oversight to make sure everyone could see each other.

Thanks Ade for organizing the event so well! Even if I’m the tail man in the league, it’s still a pleasure to race with you guys. 👍

My strategy was to start on medium, keep them on till lap 7 or 8 and then switch to the faster ones, and hope they should last fairly to the last laps. As I’m not involved upfront I thought that should be a good strategy. I saw that a couple of others had the same strategy but changed right after 5 laps.

On the straight on lap 2 or 3 I passed socal in a bad way. I bumped into him and sent him (I think) to the wall, so I slowed down so he could take back his rightful position. Sorry socal! :guilty:

I chased Trotter the first 7-8 laps, changed tires and Trotter went on. My plan here was to speed up enough to get pass him when he changed tires. I just had to keep it a little cool the first lap on soft tires so I could make it without scraping off paint on the walls.
And guess what! Just as Trotter was driving out of the pit I came down on the straight and passed him. I had warm tires and after 2 laps on soft tires I was used to them so I tried to push it hard just to stress Trotter to make some mistake on cold, new tires and I think he went wide in some of the corners.

Omnius was also there somewhere, don’t remember now but I think he disappeared on lap 14 or so.

4-5 laps from the finish I sighted ade… and as I came closer – mainly due to a complete stop for ade in T1 – I saw that he had worn tires or had medium tires on, so I just waited for the straight and went by.

Tonight I have to look through the replay.

I had great fun yesterday and am looking forward to race 4! :)

Looks like you had a fun race there Rosen! I think that's one of the charms of this racing league, that there are always interesting battles all through the field, whether it's trying to outbrake or outthink the opposition. It's so enjoyable!

I had a great battle with Dan the first laps and after that it was all strategic and quite lonely, but never dull! Again great respect was shown all through the field as Trotter and Omnius gave room where needed.

In short: 👍

no problem Rosen! :-) i never saw Goodwolf to my surprice i finished 6th instead of 5th! :-( had fun though and i'll be looking forward to the next race.

Cheers

Well I have watched the replay, and there were several tight battles through the race. The majority of drivers started on the soft tyre, apart from Socal, Rosen and Cobrius who started on the medium. This strategy proved to work out quite well for them, with the soft tyre proving faster later in the race, and rosen putting in a sterling performance and giving me some trouble in the late stages.

It seems there were some connection issues, and some drivers couldnt see each other, so this may reflect in the results some of you saw on the screen last night. Also Omnius suffered from a disconnection on lap 11, for which he will pick up half the points he would have won if he had finished in his starting grid position.

Now here's the final results from last night, and as you will see, I wasnt far off with my prediction last week. There are several drivers in tied positions after this weeks race...

... I have made a prediction on how the top 5 places will look like after Sundays race.

1st...COBANI
2nd...COBRIUS
3rd...GOODWOLF
4th...JIMFTR
5th...KOR_HELLRAZOR

The Grid.

Turn one, Cobani and Dan have got a clean getaway.

TokyoR246_2.jpg

And the battles behind commenced.

TokyoR246_3.jpg

Pressure from Dowlin.

TokyoR246_4.jpg

Omnius and Jamesy.

TokyoR246_5.jpg

Goodwolf, Cobrius and Dowlin.

TokyoR246_6.jpg

The first few laps saw some great battles on the soft tyre.

TokyoR246_7.jpg

Omnius and Ade.

TokyoR246_9.jpg

Getting the better line.

TokyoR246_10.jpg

And the medium tyre brigade were not far behind.

TokyoR246_11.jpg

Omnius loves his lights.

TokyoR246_14.jpg

But my pit strategy was floored. Too early from soft to medium left me a sitting duck.

TokyoR246_15.jpg

Dowlin was soon on my case. And look at that lovely picket fence.

TokyoR246_16.jpg

Meanwhile Dan comes from the pit, with Jamesy closing in.

TokyoR246_17.jpg

And catching him on turn one. Cold mediums vs warm softs was never going to work.
(Just a shame they couldnt see each other.)

Meanwhile, Socal, now on the soft tyre gets past Ade, just like Cobrius and Rosen did. My tyre strategy needs a rethink.

Cobani takes his first win of S2.

Thanks Socal it was deadly, I made a big error in this race though as I thought I was on Mediums at the start so I was a bit cautious when i could've gone much quicker since I was actually on softs. I pitted on lap 7 and realised my mistake so I ended up doing 13 laps on those Mediums. Which is why i span out on lap 18 or 19 trying to keep up with you 👍

I really enjoyed Sunday regardless of where I finished mainly because I got the opportunity to have a few tussles with guys I usually don't end up racing against. And being on the backfoot also helps me as I prefer to chase not to lead. Fuji here we come.

Great pics Ade! I don't know how you manage all those different things for the Sunday Cup, respect! Of all those lovely shot's there was one that brought back memories ... :)

Omnius loves his lights.
