Beautiful, just.... that's pretty much the only way I can describe it in one word. The mixture of funny, heartwarming, and saddening moments was just... exceptional. I'm far from the most emotional person in the world, but still. Hard to have a heart of stone and not feel anything whatsoever here.

We didn't hear anypony talk about Rarity after she made her commitment to Spike, but the fact that she sacrificed her dreams to stay with the one person who she really had feelings for was a sweet moment which I wasn't even expecting. Seemed quite sudden I suppose, but that's hardly worth me nitpicking.

The last few letters though... damn. The news about AJ was like a bullet to the gut, but I kinda expected something like that to happen not long after I started reading anyway. Still, that didn't lessen the effect it had on me. But that last letter.... yeah, I'm still moved by that. The fact that some of the letters shifted from sad to mildly amusing really added to the roller coaster experience, plus Pinkie's role seemed even more random that I would have expected, but it provided some funny moments.


Having read another story involving TwiJack shipping (well, not as full-on as it is in this story), I actually consider it to be one of my favourite ships right now. Perhaps even, dare I say, #1.

That 6 star status is deserved.


And This Song playing during the last few letter letter just made it even more feelsy. Sometimes my playlist throws up something that fits these moments almost perfectly.

Asked BronyCray what motivated/inspired him to write TNTNE.

I guess the show is what really motivated me, or more specifically the fandom. I'd check EqD or 4chan every day and see all this new content, songs, PMVs, and amazing quality work being done that I just wanted to be part of. I guess the creative energy seeped into me and I just picked up an idea and ran with it. Although it makes a poor chapter title, "What if Luna had won?" was the entire plot of TNTNE when I started writing. Everything else just kinda fell into place.

Right, so this line:

Imagine hitting that line and reading that last 4 words, just as you hit the 2 minute mark on this:

The build up of the sentence and then that thundering boom right as that line hits was just....

The timing was just too perfect. Even without the music I would have felt pretty much the same, but the music just made it feel like I was punched in the chest hit by a train because of how hard those emotions hit. In a indescribably good way.


I still haven't passed the line because I....it literally overwhelms me with emotion. I spent the last 25 minutes staring at the wall calming myself down. My heart rates gone up a bit, my breathing is a bit heavy, and I'm so :censored:ing happy.

I mean holy 🤬. If it's even close to this good until the end I've got a new #1 fic. I'm shaking while typing this. I mean...just....holy 🤬.

I've never felt that before. I've never been moved like that before. By anything.



I've got more comments to make about a whole bunch of things that have happened, but those will wait until I've managed to pass this line, without happy tears blinding me, and finish the fic.




I'm going to go grab some tea. No watching TV or reading anything else, because that might break the mood.

I'll need some time to think about it, plus I have to find that list which is somewhere in this thread (why I never bothered saving it I have no idea). It has to be in my top ten though, no doubt about it.

Actually no, I was looking for something. Searching through 20'000 posts is not an easy task, specially with the posting rates of this thread.

I guess I will start catching up, I haven't even seen the new episodes yet, neither I have seen art or stories, is a pretty massive chunk of information so I will limit myself to just the episodes for now.

I...that was certainly an emotional something. I'd have to put it above a nuke, though. Supernova, perhaps?

That was....absolutely incredible. That absolutely shattered best fic. It's so far above the things on my list it might deserve a place as my favorite piece in any form of media.


Also, I'm probably going to get some weird reactions for this, but I have a new favorite ship(yes, you read that right). 3 guesses.

But you know what? Having now read 2 stories involving this ship, I have to say that it is indeed the only one that I would consider to be my favourite. AppleDash and VinylTavia are both well and good, but this one has a depth to it that I just can't ignore. I love it.

I absolutely am. I mean, don't get me wrong, after Building Bridges there's always going to be lots of love for TwiDash, but god damn the emotion behind that pairing is just so incredibly strong. I absolutely loved the idea of

communicating through letters and occasionally getting together for personal interaction. It's just such a unique kind of relationship and it works so perfectly for the both of them. The idea that they can each live thier lives, not interfering with each others dreams, and still managing a closer and more honest relationship than any other is just so perfect.

That said, that style of relationship seems to hinge more on AJ than Twilight. I just couldn't see it working between anyponyx(not AJ)

And continuing new ships I really like: RarityxSpike. I've always been OK with that ship, and it was actually my favorite Rarity ship all along, but the way it was presented in that story put it somewhere near my top 10 overall ships. Possibly top 5, but I'd need to think about it a bit more to make that decision.

Actually I quite like RD's newest episode, it brings back some of the uniqueness that was showcased back in season one, is really entertaining somehow. The Last Roundup was quite good too but not as entertaining, and then there is The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 which is kind of meh(one could say Owl's Well That Ends Well levels of meh) except for one or two exploitable scenes and reactions.

And I cant believe that this fandom reacts in this way when the first possible canon(straight!) shipping appears, is almost comical.

Watched the episode. Loved it. Not my favorite, but with the combination of Cheerilee and Big Mac getting real screen time, the hilariously ridiculous lines from Big Mac, and the CMC shenanigans, it was a good one.


Although, if there were ever any doubt in Big Mac as a powerhouse, there is no doubt now.

Although, if there were ever any doubt in Big Mac as a powerhouse, there is no doubt now.

And yet, he is defeated by a hole in the ground.

Big Mac's sickly sweet lines were definitely the best bits in that episode. It wasn't as good as some of the more recent episodes, but it was funny nontheless. Not bad overall.

Ballad Berry is such an alcoholic that it loops past funny antics like the ones on her tumblr and goes right back into depressing.

Ballad Berry Punch lost her entire family (immediate and extended) in an alcohol-related fire. The funeral costs alone drove her to bankruptcy and she lost the family orchard, her home, and the entire Berry family cellar. Devastated and beyond depression, her closest friends tried to help her, but her 24-hour alcoholism drove them all away. Of course, being in that constant drunk stupor has led to many mistakes, the happiest (and really, the only happy one) being Berry Pinch.

That sobered her up in a pinch, all right. Having lost all her property, Berry Punch has no land to her name, so she can no longer work the grape fields her family used to pride themselves in--she gets by with odd jobs around town that keep her away from her only family most of the day, much to their mutual depression; it's better than nothing though--she counts herself lucky enough that there's still ponies in town that would actually give her a chance at anything, considering her years of alcoholism.

Incidentally, the Apple family were the ones to buy the Berry lands after their foreclosure.

...Yeah, I don't think I could actually get away with that in the Ballad.

Personally, I love that ship now. It's always been one of the ones I can definitely see working, but it's just never been of interest too me. But, like AJ said in her letter "One of those things which was meant to be." And the way it was presented in the story made me believe that.

Also, mustache socks needs to be a thing.

Anyway, even though TwiJack is my new favorite ship, I don't want to read any more stories with it. I love the way it's set up in this story, and it's done in such a different way, that I don't think any other fics could make me feel the way about it that this did. I mean, I still could read other TwiJack stories without effecting the way I feel about this one, but I'm just no going to be inclined to read a fic just because of TwiJack.


And every time one of Pinkie's letters came up I couldn't help but think about this:

It's still not my favorite ship, but it's definitely up there now. Even though I still feel kind of "meh" about Fluttershy, them as a couple just works so well and I love it.

That said, I really hope she doesn't go all Lesson Zero again. That would just kind of ruin it for me. Well, maybe not ruin it, but it'd certainly take away from the enjoyment.

And that thing I said about Ubuntu. I tried it. Not a fan. I've grown far to use to this "drag to edge to resize" function on Win 7. Makes it much easier and more convenient to just throw the media player to the right side and the forum to the left in case I want to discuss ponies while watching ponies. I know you can do it with Linux, I just can't be bothered to 🤬 with it only to get the same functionality I already have.
