I look back only when people are tail gating me then I hit the brakes..I did it to TD on xlink before

sometimes the roof cam and sometimes the the in car view.. depends on the track wich makes my view better..

I agree this is a great topic and one that comes up often with my friends while drifting in any game.

In gt4 I used to use the hood/roof cam but now I noticed that the in-car cam has more tilt on a roll center so you can see inertia moving more easily. also dfp and in-car go hand in hand.

on the d1 games i use the hood cam though...gauges on in-car are a bit off

I use the in car view...it gives me a better sense of height and car pitch then the roof cam...also the width of the car is the width of your tach display...ok just a tad wider but u will get the idea...

I use the dip between the dials as crosshairs lol.. I think it's a lot easier to stick to the line with bumper view.. the other views seem a bit detached. That being said, I was a stubborn chase cam fanboi for years.. pretty much until the final days of GT3

Wow...For some reason i just assumed everyone used the in-car view.

I cannot explain how, but I know exactly where the wheels of my car are using the in car view. I cannot use the chase view for my life. I just cannot get a feel for what the car is doing (or about to do), and I have to have a visual tach. Now, I may have to try the roof cam out. Unfortunately, tire smoke has been cut out of the rear view mirror for GT4.

Almost the exact oposite for me. I have no clue where I am (angle wise) or cant find my points in for in car view. :scared:
One thing that does annoy me is that damn little line tach..that thing sucks. 👎

I think its because im new to drifting in gt4 and Im so used to NFS2U..

I use the Roof/Hood cam all the time. I also use it in every other driving game that i play, and i think it gives a nice feel to the game. But in some cars the antenna might get slightly annoying :D

I use the hood/roof cam when driving with the DFP (drift or grip) and chase when using the DS2.

The DS2 turns so much more sharply than the DFP that I cant control the car in chase with the DFP.

i always use in-car cam, it makes it much more realistic, would you really be drifting from ontop of your car, or running along behind it? I think in-car cam also gives me more response to my surroundings.

Yes i agree that you wouldn't drift on the roof of your car or from behind.....but you also dont sit in the bumper of the car....none of the views are accurate.

I use the roof cam because it seems to be the easiest view to handle the car and judge corners. From behind it feels as if the camera moves putting me off and messes up my judgement, the bumper cam doesn't work for me either because its too low to the ground. I can get insane speed, good angle, accuracy and linking with this cam.

Roof cam only for me....
I am kinda new to drifting though, and can only realy seem to drift the s-2000's consistantly... I am getting better with other cars like the supra, and silva's but for some reason the S-2000 seems to be the natural choice for me... it's the only car i can drift enire long sweeping turns and combos with... go figure....
I like how you can kinda feel out the car and track in this view, the "bumper" or incar cam(whatever it is...) kinda bugs me when it shakes and gets blurry...
I have no idea why i said most of this stuff, so um....yeah :dopey:

Allways in-car. Anything else just does not seem right to me. If I use third person I cannot countersteer or judge steering input properly at all, roof view is even worse.

 i love the in car view because its so funny when i spin out  the only thing i have to complain about is misjudging the cars width and nipping a corner :dunce:

In car is the only way I could possibly drift in it. Since the car I drift in gt4 is pretty much the exact car I drive in real life, so it makes it much easier for me to drive to something nearly-similar to the view I get in real life. However someone commented earlier that he wished he had the 3 moniter split-screen, so he could see the next apex and as well get a better feel for how the car is reacting, that would please me much.

i use the 3rd person chase view when drifting. so that i can see my car, my angle and position on the track. it helps to keep an eye on the backend in something like my Evo, something you can't do from the top of the car or plastered on the front like a piece of roadkill! keeps my ass out of the wall.
