What do I think of the VGTs in GTS?

  • meh

  • don't care

  • if they add full full interior, nice!

  • they should focus on more real tracks

  • I wish they add livery editor more than I want VGTs

  • they should focus on more real cars****

  • they should focus on more real concept cars

  • I love them as is. No need to change or ditch them!

So. Kaz talked about VGT and we even saw the Mazda VGT in the trailer. How do you feel about Vision GT carrying over to Gran Turismo Sport?

Many of you guys don't care for them, be it because you want less concepts and more real cars, or because most of them simply lack interiors. If they have full interior in GT Sport, would you drive them more than you did in GT6, or are they still meh?

I honestly think it's both great and meh, I, mean, it's great that GT is the only game that offers this, and I'm interested in testing the Bugatti. But other than that, I'm not really sure how I feel. I won't drive them a whole lot. In other words, I wouldn't miss them if they were ditched.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

EDIT: Sorrysorry one of the poll choices are wrong. My mind is everywhere today..

I agree. It would be an unfair race for sure.

oops. One of the poll choices are wrong. My bad. hahaha

I could agree to that too, if they're used offline and not in the online "main" championship. That would be very weird haha

Pity there's no option in the poll for PD to focus on more real concept cars, like ones which aren't created specifically for the series.

I will never care for them but what is curious is how they fit into an FIA sanctioned championship. None of them are homologated for racing, they don't fit into any existing regulations and many have fictional/future technology.
That doesn't matter if it's a pure virtual series and not a virtual representation of a real series. But too soon to tell I guess.

But they claim the championships are going to be run as if they are real FIA events, so the cars in each event are going to have to follow regulations, as any real FIA series would.

I suppose they can be ballasted but what of the other extreme tech?

Not too sure if they can blend in with other classes, but a dedicated class/one make championship type of thing? All speculation of course.

I believe the whole Vision GT program is what the manufacturers is using to go along with PD and the FIA's “drive the future of motorsports for the next 100 years”.

The original idea of Vision GT could've very well changed a lot since it was first announced for GT6.

Stupid thought but if they say GTS is greater than the GT Prologue games, does that mean they're going to focus more on the new cars rather than bringing in all the cars from the past installments much like how the Prologue games turned out?

I love them (missing option from the poll)! I think it's exciting to get a peek into the world of concept cars and it is what separates Gran Turismo from nearly all other racing games.

If they mix them with other classes like they did in the trailer, it's clear which cars you'll have to pick if you want to have a shot at winning the race...

Unless they do some proper equalisation and limit tuning that's going to be the case whether VGT's are there or not.

I think the VGT was a clever concept. Some of the cars were a bit out there but still interesting and some were very good. The Mazda alone made it worthwhile though I am still interested to see the Ford and the Tesla if they ever come.

Never cared for VGT cars; more interested in real cars. I don't care if they appear in the next GT or not but I certainly would prefer that they don't become the centre of the game.

If more manufacturers made cars similar tomthe Mazda approach, then yeah, it's a good concept, The Chaparral was a bad one, imo. Futuristic, but not raceable.

I wonder if Kaz will follow through with uploading the entire standards catalog too. Guess we'll only find that out near launch.

Not sure what standard cars have to do with this thread.

On topic, good to see evidence the VGT's are being carried through to next iterations.
We already have the Hyundai, Bugatti, Mazda, and 'new' Nissan.
Doubtful any others would be excluded.

I find the 'poll' a little disturbing.
Out of the 8 options, 7 of them are against VGT's.
And I have no clue what 'tracks' or 'livery editors' have to do with it.
Nor the distinction between 'real' concept cars and VGT concept cars.
Hence, why bother voting.

In any case, I'm glad to see evidence of their return.
Too many man-hours from all manufacturers and their respective design departments involved to leave them behind.

SInce they're already modeled they should stay and throw away that work.
Should Chevrolet throw away that work?
Arguably so.

Should others do so?
No.
(Well, maybe SRT)

A concept is exactly that.
Well worth 'keeping on the books'.
Many manufacturers have been quite deliberate in their designs, looking towards the future.
I doubt they would consider the project nothing more than a 'throw-away'.

Forgot the not

the track option was a mistake. My mind was everwhere when I wrote it. And the livery editor option is there because some people rather have that instead of VGTs. Anyway. I might as well delete the poll.

Can't you just edit it?

It's not up to me to tell you how you should set-up your poll.
I was simply making an observation.

Your poll as it stands isn't pointless.
I understand the reasoning behind putting resources into other areas.
But it can be seen as lop-sided.

Saying that, don't delete it, it's just a poll.

If you can edit it then that would be good, IMO.
If not, then so be it.

But so far as a VGT poll is concerned, I feel you're reaching beyond what the poll should be about.

You could put an option saying "I wish they remove this nonsense and focus on something else much more important".
