Each week there will be a simple opinion question. There will only be two options and it is a public poll.

WEEK 1: Duvet or Blanket

The answers are not mutually exclusive, therefore there should be a third option, which is both.. I've got two duvets, a sheet, and a bed spread, it is a fortress of cosy.

Duvet. It needs to have some mass to it so that molds itself around you.

Duvet, it's comfier, it's warmer. I would only replace it with a blanket if it was really hot at night, and with me living in England this doesn't happen.
But a decent one can be quite a lot of pounds, worth it though.

Definitely a duvet. You need something to keep you warm on long winter nights.

I prefer a comforter, and of the two options, it's closer to a duvet, so my vote goes to a duvet.

Duvet. Even though it isn't very thick, it retains heat better than most thick ones I used to have.

The only time I'd use a blanket is if I end up staying with a friend. Even then I'd most likely use a sleeping bag instead.

I don't use either. I sleep with a Homemade quilt (thin year round) my mother made before she passed away. I'm a Jimmy Buffett fan and she made a quilt with Parrots on it since I'm a Parrothead. So I'll vote blanket, also for the idiots like me that didn't know what a Duvet was I looked it up:

A duvet (UK /ˈdjuːveɪ/ or UK /ˈduːveɪ/; US /duːˈveɪ/; from the French duvet [dyˈvɛ] "down"), also known as a doona in Australian English, is a type of bedding or continental quilt as it is also known—a soft flat bag filled with down, feathers, silk or a synthetic alternative, and protected with a removable cover, analogous to a pillow and pillow case. Duvets originated in rural Europe and were made from the down feathers of the eider duck, known for its usefulness as a thermal insulator.

I was going to say duvet, but after reading the definition, I can’t say that. The cover does not zip off, you just throw the whole thing in the washing machine.

I sleep under a comforter and have two cats to add weight.

How can you say blanket!!

Duvet is the one true quilt, you must accept it as your saviour or you will be cold all night.

I don't know what that is and refuse to become Martha Stewart. I rebuke thee.

I say duvet however some friends say quilt, no one I know says blanket in relation to what your talking about.

Duvet. You can buy duvet's in various levels of insulation, and I've found one that works perfectly. Blankets are either freezing cold or insulate with the intensity of a thousand suns.

I have a comforter, so I voted duvet. In the winter, I do use an electric blanket under the comforter for more warmth.

Duvet thickness is given the best scale name ever (Apart from FLOPS), Tog.
Anyway, if there is a duvet and blanket on my bed, the blanket usually gets thrown off.

No choice for black silk or soft leather sheets? Ah well, have to be 'duvet' then. :dopey:

A thick blanket, as I've never had the chance to sleep with a duvet. In fact this thread is the first time I've ever heard of one and I had to google what it was.:dunce:

A Duvet is something with lots of thread.

While in the tropics I prefer a coverlet. It's beginning to freeze over here in Ontario, so right now I like a comforter. A redhead is optional, there for extra warmth.

I seriously can't imagine how anyone could choose a blanket over a duvet. :odd:

Blankets might be advantageous during warmer nights in the summer though, so there's that to consider. Then again, I'd just go without any sort of cover if it's that warm.

And I never thought someone would complain about a duvet being too heavy. Just get one which isn't so thick, or something.

I like being cold at night, so blanket.

Though I honestly didn't know what a Duvet was before I voted, I should remember to read the thread first.

Duvet hands down, don't mean to take this off topic but has anyone had a bed with a topper on it, i kid you not, omg! omg! Yes.
