There Better Be Less Japanese Cars With The 200 New Cars

I like Japanese cars but I European ones look nicer and I prefer driving them. 60% of Gran Turismo 5 was Japanese cars, they better have variety this time. I hope only 30% maximum will be Japanese cars. As for DLC, it should be the same, only 30% max. 200 new cars does seem a little low for a completly new game, hope they have 200 more as DLC within 1-2 years.
Only a GT fan would say something like that ;)

There are a lot of games that don't have 200 cars total. I can't think of any aside from GT that would add that many from one version to the next. Most games seem to add about 10 to 20 tops then some more trickle in as DLC.

As for only 30% total JDM cars that would mean that they would have to not add any new JDM cars which we know won't be the case and they would have to remove several that are already there which also will not be the case.

It is possible that only 30% (60) of the new cars will be JDM but I would not hold my breath on that one either. They are a Japanese company after all and there are lots of JDM cars out there.

I wouldn't mind more Japanese cars if they were fun. Its just most of them aren't. The Japanese are very innovative, and whilst this may be good for the future of the car industry, it doesn't exactly make it any more exciting.

It generally goes like this throughout the world.

Japanese: Innovation
European: Style
American: Power

Rather brief but you get the idea.
Combine those and you'll become the Master of the Universe.

As for thread topic: Why not have japanese cars in GT6? I see less new skylines this time around, no new GTRs that aren't race cars (Nismo GTR GT3). Plus there are various Japanese cars that I like that I want in GT6, like the Nissan R380, the Nissan Juke R and the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package. It seems a little more balanced out now in GT6 that I'm seeing fewer brand new japanese cars. If you look at only the premium car count in GT5 you see a more balanced out Japanese/European/American/Other ratio. The standard cars (GT4 cars) were much more outrageous in favouring Japan.

There are no many "different livery" models between Premium race models in GT5 - at least not as I can think of - with exception of Ferrari F1 models, Lexus DTM, TC DLC cars and Audi LeMans? (maybe few more, those are one I can think of from my head - Audi if there is choice between yellow and red one under the same vehicle, I can't remember now).

For example, all 2009 Supra JGTC models are not the same. Every one of them has different characteristics, despite sharing nominally same or similar PP values and looking similar.

It is like that since the very first game. If there are color-related choice for the same car in Dealership, there you can talk about the "different livery for the same unique car" (as there are many examples available among Standard models, such as Camaro Race Car, S2000 Race Car, etc - same model available with different color/livery).

But if same model-year car is sold separately within Dealership, it is really a different car, despite seeming the same. Two JGTC cars are not same, despite being *built* from the same *base-model*. PD was always giving them small differences in either suspension (handling), aerodynamics or power they develop after break-in (not only oil-change but full break-in).

So, every one of those "different livery" models are in-fact the unique models.

You're probably right, but the actual 3D models are so similar that it's mostly copy-paste.

Maybe they rely on whoever has the top sales on the car industry. Whoever is selling more get's a lot of % on the car selection

Cute, but I think the best way to pick the most popular, in both breadth and depth of popularity, would be to go beyond the sales figures of a new model and factor in resale value and aftermarket support. And heck, if periodicals have been published for YEARS based on content which consisted SOLELY on pics and how-tos and adverts for aftermarket go-fast goodies for specific models, it MAY be a good idea to include those models in the game.

...Just because something in the game has been a certain way for a long time, doesn't mean it should stay that way forever.
But to expect or demand such a drastic shift in the face of all the evidence, is plain foolishness.

When Johnnypenso used the same argument on the first page[/URL], it was valid because he was replying to the silly "or else" sentiment in the original post. "Or else what" meaning the games will continue to sell.

When legacyMACHINE used it he was responding to a specific post, which means it basically became what it almost always means when someone says "if you don't like it, don't buy it." ie. "I can't actually rebut what you said, but I'm right anyway."
True, there was a difference of tone between the two comments, and I did think about qualifying my own comment by adding that I'd have 'put it a different way, maybe'...but I thought that was fairly self evident - clearly not.

I shall be more succinct in future.

They better have this or better have that, or else what?

I say better variety is good, but I'll take everything that comes.

I think we know what will happen...clearly they'll cry it out and shout to the skies why their pleas weren't heard :sly:

Also we really have no choice but to take what is given or not play, I want more variety as well. The idea that nationalism is preventing us from having a 33/33/33 ratio or something close to it (40/30/30 even), is laughable. It was when it was argued 10 years ago to leave PD alone about it, it was laughable 3 years ago and it still is today.

Only thing that annoys me with PD it's not how many japanese cars how many variations of one damn car that is all. Like 50 Miata's 100 Skylines 20 Supra whatever STOP IT! Lol seriously though they need to tone down the bias towards modeling every tuned up GT-R on the market some look nice, but come on we already know the 1200 cars is pumped up because half the cars are variations of one another.

The Reality probably tells me that only 400 cars are actual just a single stand alone I might be off, but not by much.

It's amazing (sad?) how defensive people get about GT.
I can think of another game with which the fans get at least as militant, and about the parent company too, so... yeah.

Anyhow, I'd love to have more of everything. EVERY car that has ever been in Gran Turismo, Forza, any dealership around the world you could shake a checkbook at...

Heck, just put the lists of Forza 4 and GT5 together and most of us would have to think for a few seconds of what else was needed. But PD only has finite resources. They don't have the luxury of a parent company rich beyond reason to fund a staff of 400-plus people across the globe in double digit contractor studio numbers. Polyphony have the people they can afford to hire and pay for years, and those people can only model so many cars a year. Making a wishlist with 5000 cars is easy. Scheduling the data compiling team, then the audio capture team, then those available to the driving and performance evaluation team, then the modeling team, to produce those models within the halfway reasonable timeframe of a few years, that number drops like a rock. Even with 400-plus people working on Forza 4, it has half the cars GT5 has, or less, and includes many models ported from previous games. If you want evidence that this work can't be done in great volumes without years of time, I can't think of a better example.

And though this seems to fall on deaf ears a lot, it's just logistically much easier to get your hands on cars in your home turf. It's far more expensive to go gallivanting to Europe and America to test cars, when hundreds of examples are within a few miles of you. It's basic math, people.

You go try doing something of this scale within a few years, and keeping your budget from exploding, then face the ire of a few malcontents who show no mercy on message boards, and then tell me how easy it is.

They sort of do. Sony is hardly living in a box under the bridge. If Sony wanted to fund PD for this stuff, no doubt they could.

Well, you're talking about a parent company that not only isn't made of money, but has been losing large sums across one or two entire divisions over the last five or six years, or more. In fact, Sony reports first annual profit in five years. Most certainly the manufacturing division has suffered, responsible for home electronics such as Bravia TVs and Vaio PCs. In contrast, Microsoft "manufactures" software, with very little infrastructure overhead.

If you've been losing money over the past few years, chances are you won't be looking to enhance your lifestyle with the purchase of a BMW or Mercedes Benz. More like a Chevy HHR or the like, and certainly no trips to Paris or Vienna for vacation. Now SONY has leveraged their profit standing with the sale of hard assets as the BBC article indicates, like their New York HQ building, but that just reinforces the weakness in their manufacturing division. Regardless, SONY may have some serious cash on hand to invest in their studios, but that most likely will be spread through the many studio group partners, not just PD. We'll have to see how this all pans out, especially with the launch of PS4 involved.

Yea it is considering that GT5 was a pile of crap. GT6 is the same game, only with more cars, tracks and slightly better graphics. Its like you wasted all your time playing GT5, then GT5.5 comes out (GT6). So all your progress in GT5 was a big waste of time, your big collection of crappy standard cars was a big waste. Now you will never touch GT5 again when GT6 comes out. A lot of games these days are having some really disappointing sequels, GT isn't the only one.

Nothing is really changing about Gran Turismo, they are only adding more cars and tracks. No major gameplay changes at all. Look at Battlefield 4, it looks the same as Battlefield 3, it only has new maps/campaign/better destruction and commander mode returns. Other then that, its the same game again with no mod support, no custom map editor, what a waste.

Oh, man. Another one calling GT6 GT5.5 with only playing the demo for it.

Greeeeeat.

A returning banned troll is still a troll. Let's stop feeding this one, folks 👍
