Things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars?

Only eight things that have to be absolutely done (for me) in the next Gran turismo:

- Very intelligent AI cars (you know what I mean no bumping hard in the back, taking care of not pushing out of the track, etc!) because the one on GT4 are sooooooooooo stupid and bad (it is so frustrating!)!

- No Driving aids at all on the original setting (it is ******g anooying to always have to disconnect them on every cars)!

- Internet playing...

- N2 tires as a normal setting on "no race version" cars.

- A real cockpit view (like on the caterham!).

- Three screens view setting (as on GT3).

- Short loading time.

- More real tracks, less fantasy tracks...

Things i would like -
-Real life tracks in Australia (albert park, surfers paradise, phillip island..etc)
-Online mode
-design your own cars (like NFSU)
-turn your stock spec into racing spec (like in gt2)
-Ferraris and real life F1 cars
-car damage
-incar view

Things i don't want
-5 second penalities in rallying

Yes please, Phillips Island would be completely awesome. 👍

Also some more classic real-world circuits, specifically:

- Monza

- Spa

- Catalunya (Spain)

And if they wanted to throw in the Hungaroring and Sepang, that would be fine by me. Some more US tracks would be nice, but if Sebring, Road Atlanta, and Indy (Road course, screw the oval) don't make it, oh well. :D

PS Polyphony Digital, please wrestle the rights to the F1 trademarks away from EA Sports and make a F1 game!!! Those mooks at EA haven't made a decent game yet... :grumpy:

If there was damage and bits falling off, or maybe just a large crash, it would be pretty cool to have a safety car lap or something. Watching a race today made me realise pit crews can be a lot faster than they are in GT4, so as someone suggested, the skill of them going up as you progress would be nice.

I would say have real tracks from each country or continent like the cars. I know here in US we have the American Le Mans series and the Rolex Grand-am series that have great cars and on great tracks. Well....Maybe the rolex prototypes aren't that great but, the other cars are. I know some cool tracks in the US that aren't in the game are Virginia International Raceway, Sebring, Barber Motorsports Park, Road America, Road Atlanta, Mid-Ohio sportscar course, and the list couild go on and on.....

Lamborghini

Ferrari's

Welcome back to 1000 hp Supras and such

Curve test course like in GT3

Inside car view (with real dash/interiors)

More smoke, burnouts, tire marks,

Damage

Real car movies for demo's as well as game play cars

Drift mode

Drag race mode

Actually have a Neutral, clutch key maybe.

World map instead of made up map where different areas on US map correspond with states where manufacturers originated

Sponsored cars (TitanMotorsports Supra etc.)

Wheelie bars etc for drag

More muscle cars

Blow-off valve sounds

Bodykits

Rim selections like in GT3, so it didn't lose the rim forever and you can go back to stock.

All for now, tell me what you guys think about my add-ons, I think i hit everything.

Online Play:

Better AI:

Time progression:

Downloadable Cars, Paint,Tracks, Etc.:

Engine swaps, and REAL modifications, not choose from the menu style.

Photomode rewind and Two player photomode and replay save:

Better Tire smoke:, I'm tired of doing burnouts in the Black gravel to get some lookalike smoke

Adjustable sensitivity on the steering.

I'd like to see some races that resemble the Gumball 3000 or Baja 1000, where you race from checkpoint to checkpoint. A race from the US west coast to east coast would be cool.

More night tracks.

Headlights that actually work.

Bring back the wheel/rim manager from GT3. (I'd like to keep my default rims, but still be able to switch them out as I please.)

edit:

oh yeah, customizable license plates. i.e project gotham racing 2

Off topic: The thread is too big to be useful. The creator should update the first post to include the most asked for features.

On Topic: The radio idea is great. It would also be cool to have vintage races in which you don’t get any information on the screen about the track or the AI position/time/gap but have to wait for the main straight to get the information from the pitlane

id like to see real life automatic gearboxes come into the game. a lot of cars now come with 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearboxes, and sometimes a four-speed auto as an option. So people using auto trans all the time, should have to BUY an auto gearbox in the game, because it is a luxury, just like in real life. so you pay a little extra in real life for the auto, then why not in GT5? Also, if a car only comes in manual in real life, you can only drive it manual in the game, and if a car only comes auto in real life, with no manual capablities such as tiptronic or sequential. then in the game it can only be driven as an auto.

the game also needs to have a clutch button or pedal if there is another special steering wheel created for GT5

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 nice list, excellent, it would also like to see all of that especially the older Ferrari 348 Spider, but isnt there already blow-off valve sounds in GT4? correct me if i am wrong

ok here is my long GT5 wishlist:

Tracks included:
must have Mount Panaroma Bathurst, awesome track
Adelaide Street Circuit
Nurburgring F1 Circuit
Spa Fronchorchomps
F1 Indianapolis Circuit
F1 Monza Circuit
Silverstone
New Shanghai Circuit
Sepang
Albert Park Circuit

Tracks excluded:
Tsukuba Circuit (so damn boring, cant get out of third gear) :yuck:
High Speed Ring (way too easy, and not exciting) 👎
Autumn Ring :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Fuji 80's and 90's (why have these two older ones when you have the more challenging, more fun, more exciting 2005 versions?)

Cars included:
more V8 Supercars
more Australian cars
exotics like Porsche, Ferrari, Lambos
more old American Muscle Cars, (yes there are a lot but could be so much more)

Cars excluded:
less fricken skylines, (they've put in just about every one ever made)
less of this daihatsu and suzuki midget box ****
cars that you cant race and no point of keeping

Other features:
as mentioned in the first few pages of the thread - Sponsorship deals, they give you money if say.... you wore one of their stickers on the hood of your car for 5 of your race victories.
An entry fee for races.
Car damage and paying for repairs.
Less valuable prize cars, (dont give us a 265,000 rally raid car after completing two easy-a$$ races)
giving a prize car for every five percent (make us have to buy our LeMans and JTGC cars, instead of winning a race or two to get them)
ECU tuning, turbo boost tuning.
More specific upgrades, not just NA tuning, but you should have to buy new pistons, conrods, and crankshafts seperately.
more wing variety,
better tyre smoke, and skidmarks
day to night and weather transitions during races.
more pitstop options, including downforce, tyre pressure etc.
less repetitive license tests
BETTER AI and more AI during races, 6 opponents is just :odd:

i think thats just about it for me

i dunno if this has already been posted but

Engine rebuilds - so u don't have to have a refreshed body with a low power engine
Forged internals
More Turbo options (so u don't lose boost at full rpm on some cars ie opel speedster turbo)
More Supercharger options (pulleys, intercoolers etc)
Paint/respray options
Better engine damage modelling - ie rings start to go after too much thrashing, uses oil and so fourth
Misting kits for forced induction
more levels of ECU tuning/ability to tune ECU yourself
Graphic modelling on the cars of mods applied (like when u fit a race intercooler, it's mounted on the car and visible behind grille etc same with exhausts!)

Thats all i can think of for now....

EDIT: Boost controllers in settings, and possibly a high/low boost controller button for in races
Carburettor mods for older cars (SICK of ecu modding a car from 1960's!!!)
unless u can buy an ECU conversion kit

I couldnt agree more with you! Imagine this: Having an F1 game with some of the qualities of GT4......adding a few damage scenarios (e.g wheels, wings can be clipped off during accident..), having a bit smarter AI competitors (hey how awesome would online racing be then...).....and then, in addition, having a ''Historic'' mode, where you race some older machines on historic tracks (Ring, old Spa,)...... :) ......oooh...just caught myself day-dreaming...sorry

I couldn't agree more...

A nice little touch at the end of a race would be to have the driver stick his arm out, waving or showing the No. 1 sign: better yet, for some difficult races, why not have a little trophy presentation at the end with cheering fans. Just a thought.

porsches, ferraris and lambos would cost a bomb to put in the game, plus RUFs are practically Porsches.

And Autumn Ring is great fun

Even more cars would rock of course, but besides that....

I would like to see just a general improvement on game organization and synchronization between manual and game. There are many discrepancies (albeit small) between manual text and game features, and some bits of info are simply missing.

Online play and more cars racing at once would be wonderful... at least 15 would be ideal (I still am not sure why it cannot be done... Test Drive Le Mans, whch came out for the Dreamcast in 2000, had 24 cars on at once).

Damage would be a plus, but with SO MANY cars I doubt it can be replicated realistically. As others have said skid marks are pretty basic and should be there. Same with reverse lights-turn signals, well, maybe  .

Changing weather and light conditions would also make it much more realistic-and yes, it can be done.

Also, generally, I would like to see a bit more realism in the way races are done-the person playing would have to keep track of schedule changes, maintain a mode of transportation to the track, and generally have more and more access to tracks further and further from their home as they gain money.

For example, I would start out with a simple car and take it to track meets and/or club events at tracks in the Northeast. After improving my rank and financial status, I would eventually have access to tracks further out west and eventually nationwide. After a year or so (in the game, of course) I'd be able to race all over the world.
I'd have to watch the GTA (Gran Turismo Association, or whatever) website for schedule changes and rule changes, which would be uploaded to the game by the internet (if GT5 is for PS2-probably not, right?-you'd need a hard drive and network adapter for this).

I'd like all the tracks-some new ones as well (for instance a clubman stage route 11 would be an ineresting variant), including the local ones like Lime Rock and Loudon, New Hampshire.

The best part-with the aforementioned internet connection those with one wouldn't have to wait so damn long for the game to come out-they could start with a demo and, with monthly (or whatever-ly) updates, have the whole game! New cars could be constantly added as they were finished, and so a potentially infinite number of cars and tracks could be available.

I know it would be a lot of work for Polyphony, but they get paid for this stuff-and it IS possible, even with the current PS2 hardware.

Come on PD, innovation and creativity sells!

:)

my 2cents (again)...

Keep the midget, those cars are fun do drive around and for a laugh. But above all that, Gran Turismo 4 is too much about realsitic vehicle, track, environment and physics modelling.... ok its all very good to have them, but dont we all get to the point in the game where weve completed everything and it just right sux to play anymore. I think incorporating NFSU2 concepts (ok not nitrous purge and hydraulics bull****) but bodykits, body colours....stuff like that, it would even be cool to be able to choose.... say.... where your intercooler sits (directly under the bonnet, front mounted etc) and then chuck on the air scoops in the appropriate place. I want to be able to make my own custom car from say a stock evo, and reshuffle the design of the car unlike mitsubishi intended.

Saying all that, there must be no downgrading to the current GT4 physics etc. I just want it so that once I finished all these lame 24h races and what not, that I can still go back and screw around with cars.

Im more of a "real life driving simulator" guy than a fictitious NFSU2 type, but I now find myself going back to NFSU2 only because I can stuff the cars around and do skids and stuff 👍

Dunno, flame me if you like. Just my 2c, GT series is too similar to its predecendants.

GT4 and NFSU2 are the best ever games (One for simulation, the other a awesome arcade game). And u like the daihatsu midget? WTF. you think it is fun to drive? it is a piece of ****. get it right, hydraulics are fun, putting a friggen midget in the game is bull****.

I'd like GT5 to come out with a bonus DVD 'Making of" feature(s), including detailed footage of the real tracks etc etc.

Better game-play longevity. Now that I'm in the 100% club, some cool unlockables would've been nice. I'd like GT5 to unlock extras like extreme stunt courses and a track editor.

How about Spa (original & current versions) and Monza? More European circuits, rather than numerous versions of Fuji, Suzuka et al.
