Famine, I've been meaning to ask you, and feel the need to do so publicly in case there are others in the same situation as me. Is your username pronounced famine, as in the word for starvation and poverty, or fam-een, the way I've always read it in my head?
The former, yes.

It's said out loud a couple of times in the GTPodcast staff roundtable and the recent Spa 24 commentary :D

I would not recommand GTP for GT6 fans who enjoy playing the game and who come here to look for other people and share their positive experiences and so forth.. The main GT6 forum is mostly populated with negative comments I have to admit. But everyone can voice what they want, just the majority of users commenting in forums do not like it and so this forum becomes quiet negative. That's why I wouldn't recommand GTP for GT6 fans. Although there are amazing photomode forums and weekly races, for general discussion the GT6 fan will be confronted to many members that do not like it.

This site was supposedly fun

No I think you got it dddsprayshop ;)
Kaz said PS3 is difficult to develop on for such a high level of data, and that there would have been many things he would have done differently back then if it would have been possible.

Ok, i just took another look at the newspage...

... and i still cant find where kaz says that GT6 is dissapointment!

This is what Kaz had to say:

“A lot of different things were cut: resolution, graphic designs, everything throughout the gameplay. The level of data that’s being handled, whether it be the environment data or the car data, they’re on a fantastically high level – but the PS3 isn’t able to process it very well.

Honestly speaking, the PS3 was really, really hard to develop on. There was just not enough memory in the hardware. We always had to fight with the amount of memory that we had available.”

“Some of [the games] have things that I consider mistakes. There are a lot of things I would have done differently if I could do them again. Better physics, sound, AI, graphics… I’d like to do everything all over again!”

This post explains that quite well:

I think it's fairly reasonable to say that if the man would like the chance to do everything over again, he's disappointed in the results the first time. It's not there in those exact words, but it's pretty clear that he's not happy at all with how the games turned out on PS3.

So he says that he has made mistakes in past Gran Turismo titles, that he isnt happy with some decisions of past Gran Turismo titles - again, i cant read anything from him about saying that "GT6 is a dissapointment!"

There is a difference between "i am not happy with this and this" and "my latest game is a whole dissapointment"

I can't see anywhere on the thread as yet the mention of Kaz admitting that "my latest game is a whole dissapointment"
Only that some mistakes have been made and that if he had the opportunity to do it all again differently, he would take it.
Taking into account what he says about the limitations of the PS3 system architecture, it's fair to conclude that he refers - not exclusively - to both of the games which have appeared on the PS3.
GT5 and GT6 have both appeared on the PS3.

What disappoints me the most about GTP is people who cannot tolerate spirited discourse, those that only want to see one side of a discussion, their own:tdown:. There's no swearing here, no name-calling, good grammar and sentence structure is required and best of all, no annoying textspeak:mad:. Outrageous, false, silly claims are quickly dispatched with logic and reason:idea:. The community is populated with people who obviously have extensive knowledge in various aspects of gaming, programming, game design, sound engineering, engineering in general, business, marketing, etc. etc. etc. and those people contribute freely with their time and effort solely to help the members of this community:cheers:. I can't think of a single negative aspect of the community to be honest.:)

But if you can't tolerate a well moderated, civil, spirited debate, then this forum definitely isn't for you @Rouward :ouch:. I do suggest you watch from the sidelines for a while and try to look at things with an open mind and cruise a few other gaming sites to see just how good things are here:gtpflag:.

Well if you want to get technical about it - as you have done already - this person isn't saying that the developers have admitted that the game is a whole disappointment.

As has already been pointed out here on the thread, and as can be found on the news page -

“Some of [the games] have things that I consider mistakes. There are a lot of things I would have done differently if I could do them again. Better physics, sound, AI, graphics… I’d like to do everything all over again!”

There's no mention of the game being a whole disappointment, only that there are a lot of things that would be done differently.

It's not quite the same thing.

Anyway, I feel we're getting off-topic here now though, and also it seems to have reduced to petty points scoring, so I'll let you carry on :D

Are you guys nuts, this site is awesome; there are racing leagues, news , endurance races, tunes, good people and stuff.
I can't really understand the negativity here,so please everyone, have a snickers and go ahead.
Ah, and please stop exalting project cars and any other game in a religiously manner, it's ridicoulous; not even a month ago everyone here was expecting FH2 and driveclub to "destroy" Gt and oddities like that and guess what?
They have their ups and downs too =ooo
Looks like some neglected girlfriend talk to me; calm down, enjoy the game, enjoy racing.

Reads GTPlanet rant in GT6 section. Wonders what part of the site, this thread belongs in...

And here I was always adding an extra "e" (like the Top Gear blokes who add that extra syllable to coupe).

This site was supposedly fun, but everything are ruined by Forza (who always praise their games and throws complains on GT)
I don't know what ''fun'' constitutes for you, but I don't consider circle-jerks being a part of it. You're also free ignore them, or counter the criticism constructively if you disagree.

Apologize for my bad english, but I hope you guys understand my situation in this forum.
Actually, no. I don't. You signed up to a discussion board. Members discuss things, the GT series among other things, and are allowed to raise their opinions whether they may be negative or positive as long as it doesn't violate the AUP.

And to say "GT6 was a disappointing game" is just another gtplanet-typical rant - For me GT6 isnt disappointing in any way and i still play it regularly since the relase which i cant say about any other game!
Great. For you it isn't, but that doesn't make it a fact. There are many that are dissatisfied with how GT6 turned out. Opinions, opinions. Noone is right or wrong.

For people like me, who really like Gran Turismo the Gran Turismo section of gtplanet is an absolute mess!
Nice hyperbole. I wouldn't call divisive opinions an ''absolute mess''.

@Rouward sometimes constructive criticism is more valuable for one developer than endless praise.

"constructive criticism" are very rare. The majority of messages are : "PD suck", "Kaz suck" etc.

And I have the strong impression that on GTPlanet, it's forbidden to say we love GT6. When positive things are said, insults come immediatly. I'm exaggerating a bit but you can see image.

Exemple. Tomorrow, I will create a topic where I explain why I want to keep all the cars. Two posts later, I would have "zlork fanboy XD lol, kaz suck".

Very sad.

You say that we accept no criticism. You are mistaken.
We just sick of same people who make same complaints that don't mean anything.

You know, if you don't like GT6, you don't have to stay. I hate Forza Motorsport, I'm going in the section saying "lol no weather after 5 episode, Turn10 suck!" ? No. You can look, you will not find a post.

If we began to respect members and most specially, Kaz and PoDi, I think we'll take a big step.
But it will never happen, we aren't in the land of Care Bears.

Complete and utter nonsense. There is plenty of give and take on the forums on both sides. What gets roundly trounced are people who spout "facts" and don't back them up - on either side. Yes there are always a few people that hang around and don't say much other than a little jab here or there but that happens on both sides as well.

Awwwww.

4chan is the exact opposite.

@Rouward GTP treats negatives equal to positives. It applies not just for GT6.

Reads GTPlanet rant in GT6 section. Wonders what part of the site thread belongs in...
Well i guess it specifically GT6 section. Other sections are fine as it is.

Great. For you it isn't, but that doesn't make it a fact. There are many that are dissatisfied with how GT6 turned out. Opinions, opinions. Noone is right or wrong.
.

Jep, Noone is right or wrong, but you read one particular opinion of those two a thousend times more than the other. And thats really just depressing for people who are just here to discuss news and features, why do these guys always have to post their hateness about GT6 in nearly every GT6 thread?
Its about how you handle your opinion, either you have that opinion with you or you shout your opinion in every possible way out!

The main reason people here are complaining about GT and PD is because they have loved the GT series since it basically came out. It's their favorite racing game, they hate to see it being neglected on so many level, we might not use the best way to express our desire to see GT being push forwards instead of moving backwards on some aspect of the game. GT6 isn't BAD it just isn't GOOD ENOUGH for each one of our standards in terms of what's good and what's not.

Exactly, we love(d) the GT series and expected at least somewhat of an improvement over GT5 and instead it took many steps backwards. No one-make races with an car in the game, no tire/fuel wear or damage anywhere in the career mode, no endurance races, no rally races, no shuffle races, no car trading, no horn swapping, pretty much the best parts of GT5 were removed without explanation and no mention of whether they'll return. On top of that, they pretty much gave us the same exact rabbits to chase but made the gaps and rubber-banding even worse so the actual core of the game, the "racing", is not even worth touching. Then all they hype for the Senna content and all we get is slightly modified versions of tracks we already had and a few cars that are only used for hot laps, well that's about like marrying a super model who has vowed to remain a virgin her whole life.

We are fans of the series who are sorely disappointed in the direction the series has taken and the promises that have been broken. Our only avenue to express our concerns with hopes of them being heard is a place like GTP, and unfortunately there isn't much positive to say about the game so it becomes full of negativity. I'm sure a lot of other people are in the same boat as I am, we love "sim" racing but don't have the means for a proper PC so GT is our next best option and we're sorely disappointed to see our hobby/passion be so badly neutered and neglected.

Yes there are always a few people that hang around and don't say much other than a little jab here or there but that happens on both sides as well.

But there seem to be way more people who are just here to bash towards GT and praise all those other games, people who dont play GT6 anymore because its soooo bad and so on.

Exemple. Tomorrow, I will create a topic where I explain why I want to keep all the cars. Two posts later, I would have "zlork fanboy XD lol, kaz suck".

And whether such a response is deserved depends entirely on whether your explanations had any basis. People spewing garbage for the sake of it happens on both sides of the aisle.

In the past week I've been called a PD shill and a Forza fancy who shouldn't be posting in the GT6 forum; and the common thread between the two people was idiocy and ignorance that only increased when the members were called on it.

You say that we accept no criticism. You are mistaken.
We just sick of same people who make same complaints that don't mean anything.

Those two sentences are at odds with each other. The second is also completely meaningless without an example.

You know, if you don't like GT6, you don't have to stay. I hate Forza Motorsport, I'm going in the section saying "lol no weather after 5 episode, Turn10 suck!" ? No. You can look, you will not find a post.
If only everyone followed your example, not that it directly applies anyway. Instead there are still members who crusade against the very notion of Forza superiority in any way, and even use falsified evidence to support it.

p-r-o-p-r-e-l-y ..... crap :P

To be honest, I spent most of my time here in the rumble strip, console & pc gaming and motorsport sections.

I rarely visit the GT forum, just like I rarely play GT6. I hang around the "Cars in General", "Rumble Strip", and "Auto News" sections. You know, the parts of the site made for that stuff?

I doubt the staff wants every single person who doesn't play GT6/Hates GT6 to, "Leave for their own sake." If they did, then those forums wouldn't be there.

/r/granturismo user here.

It is my belief that the rise of PC sims (Project CARS, Assetto Corsa) are causing this mess. Everytime I see someone recommending or even mentioning these two titles on the GT6 section, my mind gets hurt. It is also why I barely post at GT6 epic whining/crying thread (except when I need to rage post) and thought that thread has leaked to the entire GTP.

Your move. 💡
