Besides the "zillion" Skylines argument being old as dirt, what you guys should be asking for are the same thing in Mustangs, Corvettes, BMWs, Mercedes etc. More is always better than less. ;)

Exactly!

Dang, I never new you were that smart..... putting Mustangs infront of Vettes:sly: Oh and your idea is pretty good too.

Well ,he already said that there was a lot of the racing aspects(Here I mean race cars alone) missing and that he didn't want to include it until it was done well !

We already had a glimpse of the car cockpit in the E3 07 trailer and it's just WOOOOOOOW

That's probably the reason. The F1 is a totally different kind of race car, so it really doesn't count. Prologue does not have any race cars because they are still working on the physics/handling for those.

I've always spent 80% or more of time with the race cars, so i can't wait to drive them!

Well they have the GTLM concept. And if thats how MR racecars are going to drive, I'll stick with street cars. By the way, why should the physics be different for race cars? Both race and street car exist in the same world, with the same forces acting upon it. Handling should just be improved.

i understand your point, but the extenuating factors of speed etc, we should really stop speculating untill we know more

Well the GTLM was a very nervous vehicle to drive in GT4 so its probably not a great benchmark.

I know what you're saying but the problem is they only do that with japanese cars.

Not really because this GT is just a tuned one. Tuned cars always has handling problems.

The GT4 GT LM was a true race car, with a rigid chassis and stuff.

There's a difference, all the cars we have on Prologue are either tuned or street. I'm still waiting on the real race cars.

Technically, most real world race cars are nothing but "tuned" cars. Most race cars start life as a factory built car. Then someone goes thought a "stiffens up the chassis. Only top tier motorsports such as F1, ALMS, NASCAR, SuperGT and a few others drive cars that aren't factory machines. So saying the GTLM is not a true race car is saying the RealTime NSX (of SPEED World Challenge) is not a race car.

I get what you are saying, but that's coming from real life. In the game it's a bit different. This ford GT LM of prologue it's just a bit tuned up, it's not really race spec, just like the other tuned cars.

Maybe you still have doubts, but trust me, the true racing ford GT will behave a lot differently. We will see the difference in december .

i dont get why poly develops so many JGTC cars... the organization for the racing group is crap.... its like the spec miatas... nobody cares except the japanese and few americans who are into anything japanese related... i dont like the engineering of the cars, enough of the 1000 JGTC cars and 1023123 rx7/skyline models.

While GT500 (in Super GT) are usually slated for the GTRs, NSX and SC430, the GT300 is bit more varied. Besides the staple Garaiya and the Nissan Z, there's also Porsche GT3 and Ferrari F430 (and the Subarus and the Mazdas). The Super GT series has even staged races in other countries, for example at Sepang (F1 track) in Malaysia. You obviously have little or no knowledge of the series so might I suggest downloading at least the 2007 Highlights on GTTV. Yes, it is a tad more interesting than NASCAR (ok, a lot more interesting).

I have no doubt that the Ford GT LM is a true racing car- the lighter and super rigid chassis (carbon fiber) is usually what separate the road version from the racing version and of course the tuned engine. I just took both the regular Ford GT and the LM version for a lap at Fuji GT. Right off the bat you can feel the improved P/W ratio (great acceleration), the improved braking and how much more rigid the chassis is (the G25 wheel is good at relaying that). Even using just the S1 tires on both the cars, the handling of the LM version is a marked improvement over the road version- I find it easier to control the car in and out of corners. The time difference- 1:45 with the regular GT and 1:42 with the LM version. In a 60 lap race that would be 180 sec difference at the end of the race.

Yes thanks for telling me all the info I already know about JGTC. Ive seen the races in person, even at sepang and the first ever race in the US at cali speedway... ive also had pit access to these races and was able to get a ride along in the RE-Amemiya Rx7, so i know my **** when it comes to JGTC. What im trying to get my point around is that poly focuses way too much on their japanese motorsport heritage and should start making more european/NA/asian racecars such as the 80's DTM's and australian v8's.... I would rather see that, than some stupid 350z converted to JGTC spec. Poly still hasnt gotten through their heads that they need more variety. Hey I love all the cars in the game but its getting old. It could be different in GT5, they might have variety, but Im not expecting anything great... in reality its probably going to be another 30 JGTC cars all ranging from rx7's to 350z's, like we need anymore of those models in the game to begin with. Yes Nascar sucks. But lets face it, I think a lot of us now would rather see a nascar model in the game rather than some JGTC car. We need something new.

Race cars aren't supposed to be in GT5P. The only race car in the game is the Ferrari F2007, and that's not even available until you beat the S Class.

The last time I checked PD was a Japanese company and besides GT, there is no other source for Japanese Super GT cars. While at the same time all the European cars are well covered by Simbin (WTCC and FIA GT series) and Turn 10 should be covering the NA racing. However, I do think that unlike GT4 when Nissan was the only high profile company that PD was involved with and PD had very little involvement with anything outside of Japan, with GT5P and the subsequent GT5, there was already the Nurburgring 24 Hour sponsorship, the Audi R8 campaign, Ferrari California, GT by Citroen, Lotus Evora, SEMA, Concours d'Elegance, Top Gear etc. I have no doubt that this would mean more variety in cars and racing tracks.

Why isn't it suppose to be in GT5P, may I ask?

Actually I've always assumed the Ford GT LM was a race car, everything about it comes across as such.

As for the defining factor between a race car and a road car being a carbon firber chassis, that's not true. A lot of race cars don't have one, they use the standard road cars, maybe reinforced and stifferned, but it's only certain series where the cars chassis doesn't have to be the same as the road variants and can be a carbon tub and thoes are more often than not silhouettes like the DTM.

The Ford GT Concept is a weird car. I don't like how PD defined it, because it's practically a LeMans car. Even with R3 tires, it's very slippery, much more than the street legal Ford GT. I turned up the downforce all the way, which admittedly in slow speed turns is useless, but even flying down turns on Daytona it was still pretty slippery. I turned the power down as far as it would go and it's STILL slippery! A relative gave it a pretty good tuning, which I'm still a noob at much more than camber and brake pressure, I think the major change being harder tires in front, and the darn thing is still such a handful that it frustrates me. I don't know if this is due to pressure from Chrysler and Chevrolet to not show up the Viper and Corvette tuners or what, but I hope they render it properly in GT5. There's an entire thread about it in the Prologue section.

By the way, corpsteve, I'd take a time out and step away for a while. I think your rant is way over the top. Besides, I'd like to know how many games have Super GT/JGTC cars at all?

True. I'm not defiing by logic or real life, i'm defining by Gran Turismo standards. It doesn't handle to anything remotely close to a racing car, so that's why i think it isn't one.

I would be shocked if all racing cars on GT5 have similar behavior, because the Ford GT LM concept by GT handles like a pig, no matter the settings.

But for now, we can just speculate...

But seeing how the GTLM handles like a dog on hardwood, and the F1 has ASM on that can't be turned off, I'm thinking the race cars in GT5 aren't going to be for the faint of heart. Granted, I can't really put the GTLM and the F1 in the same category.

The Ford GT LM thing is KY's vision of his own Ford GT (the reason be bought two), he once stated he would love to have the whole body made out of carbon fibre similar to how he got Opera Performance do his S2000 (though thats not full carbon). It really is a road Ford GT thats been gone over in Carbon fibre and other bits rather than a outright racer.

I don't think it's slippery.

at least, i thought it is on GT5P demo. and i think i saw it on youtube... Xanavi 350Z

That was a demonstration that was held at the Nismo festival a couple years ago, not a public release. (much like the R8 at lesarthe and Nurburgring demos)
