Thoughts on Motegi?

So I shelled out my $5.00 for the Motegi DLC earlier today, and was just wondering if anyone else had got this as well?

I've spent about a 1/2 ripping around, and have to say, as a drift track, it's kind of balls. I knew what I was buying before I got it...but a part of me was hoping to find a sweet line somewhere. So far, I haven't found much.

Doing full laps in reverse of the East configuration has been the most fun. Doing it this way turns almost all of the drift sections into downhills, which is kind of cool. If some of the straights where just a bit shorter, or a bit wider, there would be some awesome sections...oh well :(

What are everyone's thoughts on this track? And if you find any good lines, share them :)

The track is really bland. I'm saving my money on this one. Dont really know what else to say other than that there isnt much happening on track. Just straight after straight and a few tight corners wich aren't really that linkable except for the few s-bends. But if I wanted to drift s-bends I could just go to Spa.

Question I haven't bought it yet but I was wondering before I do is the full track longer than daytona or about the same kind of off subject but I got a thing for nascar and indy aswell as drifting

I haven't bought it but i would love to know if its worth it for a drift track.

edit: When i look at the track map it seems like there could be some good sections but i still holding off for more info.

It's a much smaller oval than Indy or Daytona. It is 1.50 miles, whereas the other two are 2.50. Also, the two turns are not the same radius, and don't have the same amount of banking. It's an interesting oval for sure. I think it would be fun for NASCAR (and I know NASCAR has actually raced there in the past, same with INDY)

The track map is deceiving. The section that seem good on the map aren't that great, as most of the straights are too long and too narrow to link the corners.

I've been having fun running reverse laps on the East course in a missile car. And Frag's section on the West course looks pretty cool too.

But in all honesty, I only bought it cause I'm a DLC whore....and cause I like the oval. But as far a drift track goes, it's not the greatest...certainly not a "must have". For DLC, Spa puts it to shame.

It does have a few really nice sections. Montegi has huge opportunities for massive reversed entries and high speed drifts. I'm feeling the Road Course track, the section right at the end is nice. West (I think) has I nice zig zag section that feels nice to drift on, it gets a little confusing at one part as there is a bunch of different roads going through the section and you kinda loose where you're at, but it has a nice area to park at the end of the top of the section.

I like it.

Thank you for the update twitcher I guess I'll have to get it so I can bring out my herbie tuned Ford and see if those boys can keep up Nascar

Check the line I posted in Show Your Drift Cars.

There are more line variations than most tracks on gt, just they are very flat, and have nothing that really makes them special (GV's downhil to wall-run, Suzuka's long sweeping curves or Trial mountain's high speed dips and wall scraping transitions) and cannot be linked continuously.

Still the track feels unique and I can see myself drifting there often in the next few weeks.

I've been on this track almost all day, and I have to say, the more time I spend on it, the more I like it.

It's not really a great trap for doing full laps at top speed. However, there are quite a few good little sections, and that one area where all the tracks converge offers quite a few different lines. I find most of them best in missile type cars (low hp).

It's a real shame they didn't offer a version of the track that had all those middle roads open at once :(

Been feeling that as soon as Motegi was announced, GT needs to follow LFS and add an 'open location' tick box for every track.

Cape ring, motegi, Suzuka (giving suzuka west) and nurburg gp, would just instantly be awesome.

+1

QFT!!!

A-Ring and GVS too!

On the West course I like the doing the last few turns in reverse... it's a big long wide turn with a short enough straight to link into the fairly tight S
