hahahahha Leo so you too eh,,:) Now I'm even closer with my Gt-R 297.xx.. :D
What's your new project then viperpilot,, have you already claimed first place with your viper srt-10??

I think it's too late now Leo, you've had too much exposure to the 300mph rush! Let me know how your next six-cylinder candidate comes along :)
But your 3000GT is so close to 320mph, surely you can't leave it there? :P

I wonder what Viper's new project is... Hmmm... :D I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, good luck!

Keep on pushing your GT-R, Deathwish - let us know when you get her over the line :sly:

As my signature now says, I'll be at Thruxton for the second round of the British Superbikes, so if you could excuse my absense between now and Tuesday I'd be grateful - please try not to post many speeds while I'm away, as I obviously can't update the leaderboard until I get back! Thanks ;)

my new project is secret, but i'm nearly @ 300mph.........that's all i wanna say :sly: thanks for your interest guys.

i'm not fastest viper, yet..........but i improved my speed to 300,1mph, i'm looking forward to get 1st place, but i'm not sure if it's possible for me :ouch:

actually I got 305.xxmph on my Gt-R but just when I was about to take a pic,, My mom turned of the PS2:( Oh well,, back to the drawing board)

i know, i got 320.88 in a minolita, went to get camera, mom turned ps2 off, got so mad. then i got a 316.95 next day

BTW nice avatar D.E. i like it better than your old 1

 good going with that ZZ-II! I only got it to high 290ish..:ouch: I hope that my sister will return my PS2 within few days, otherwise my 3kGT's record is threatened by ZZ-II..:nervous:

dude, i've finished my secret project: i wanted to be the first Mercedes-Benz-Raod-car in the 300mph-club.........my object was the SL65 AMG. it was a real hard fight :ouch: there was a time where i was @ 299,98mph :ouch:
but i DID it: 301,04mph :dopey: :dopey: i'm so happy, first M-B-road-car in the 300mph-club

Hey, guys.

Just sayin' congrats to all the new record holders!
Now I gotta get my name up there again! 2 just ain't cuttin' it.

Oh, and btw:

If you're interested, there's a racing event involving all older group C's. I'm in, and it'd be great to see y'all there.

linky or maybe this linky?

Congratulation to you all 👍 !!!!
Lets keep improve out time :).

I hope DE won't mad at me for this:

pescarolo '03 331.97, pescarolo '04 340.52, R390 road car 304.18, supra rz 303.31, zonda c12s 303.77

No new record, you all already done well for this car :).

Oh Im sure DE will be very, very mad :mischievous: I smell trouble brewing ahead!

I did some testing today...and I got my TVR Speed 12 to 296.5mph! That was the first try too - it all went downhill after that. My lowest point was 283.3mph. I modified everything except for the brakes and it didnt improve but deproved the speed. That was with the supercharger. When I installed the turbo, things went even more downhill. My worst speed was done with the turbo :indiff:

After reading several posts that said that increasing downforce at front as well as raising the ride height at front and decreasing spring rate will help the speed, I did that, and it couldnt match the speed of the original run, done with lowest ride height front and back, high spring rate front and back and 0 downforce front and back. In the end, it was a total mess. :nervous: What'm I doing wrong here? The same was for 3000GT VR-4 Turbo '95 also.

IMO:
- you should use max rear downforce too. I think lowest front downforce will not make you wheelie.
- tweak the gear so that the goal top speed is right after sweet rpm spot.
- use manual (although I use auto for my 304mph TVR :P)

BTW, do anyone feel power curve and tourqe curve accurate? I have strange experience in Supra RZ, the speed changing faster at around some rpm (5600?), slower before and after that. This is different from those curve suggest.
Anyone else think those curve useless too?

I do use a manual. I probably need to tweak the gears and the downforce.

By the sweet spot you mean the rpm where peak hp is achieved or rpm where peak torque is achieved?

And add me to the "Who-thinks-the-torque-curve-is-useless-club"

Sweet spot for me is the rpm at 6th gear when the speed change faster. Usually the speed increase changing from slow, faster, fast, slower and slow again. I notice after driving Supra RZ :ouch:.

:indiff: I gotta do some engine background testing then....

Exactly the sam thing happenend when I was driving my Gt-R last night,,
On the straight at Test course, I shifted to 6th gear at about 250>Mph,, and then it picked up speed quite slow even with nitro,, and then at some rpm it just got a boost and after that it picked up speed slowly again..
Stupid curve thingy:)

Nonetheless I managed to get past DE's Gt-r record,, 308.xx mph and I think it could go a mile or 2 faster,, but I'm going to leave it there..
Pic of proof will be posted tuesday when DE returns:D

 mates:tup:

This place is insane. First there was the Supra record. Then Skyline GT-R. Then Viper. :scared: Give it a rest guys!! :ill: Give me a chance! ;) hahaha

i just made a 329.92mph run with the nissan R92CP Race car '92...
I was then playing aruond and i wanted to see how much of a difference an oil change makes.
So i try to get highest speed. get to around 315
then i do an oil change... first try. 329.92mph
After i get 330mph ill take a pic

Oh yeah a question. do tyres affect top speed? if so. what tyres should i use?

Traction's a big issue. I used Sport Medium for my run at 300mph in a TVR Speed 12, and it just wont grip the road when I induce NOS.

Switched over to Racing Super-Soft, and it grips, and now it can actually use the new-found power NOS is giving it. Thats how I ended up on the leaderboard ;).

329.92mph....thats faster than Ive ever went. Good first try!

What I meant was on some cars, traction is a big issue. Im no expert at this either, but having a stickier tires will definitely help you grip the road, letting you use all the power, which will mean you get higher top speed. I can name you two cars that have traction problems right off this spot: 3000GT VR-4 Turbo '95 and TVR Speed 12 '00. Cadillac Cien too.

I personally dont turn off TCS during the top speed run, but try with the settings, as sucahyo (maybe it was Team666, no wait....Toronado...? Cant remember! :ouch: ) said before, virtually every setting save for the brakes will affect the top speed in a way or another.

i know you meant some cars. but i wasnt sure whether my car was being held back because of TCS or if it was still performing as best it can with my current settings

Well....

TCS = controls wheelspin.

To simplify things, how about this. If you remember the exact settings you had to achieve the 329.92mph run, apply every single one of them the way it was, and then run it with TCS set to 0. See if you can better your own record.

Or stick around and ask sucahyo, ViperGTS, Team666, Leonidae, etc. They have more knowledge than me...:guilty:

hahahahhaha Gt-4,, I will join that club:D

Oh and about the tires,, they surely affect your top speed yes,, Some people on this forum believe that R3's let you go faster on the straight,, and some people believ it's better to use stickier tires,, like R5's to get more grip and speed in the corner,, Personally I found out that it's different with every car,,so I always by 2 sets of tires for the car I'm going to test: R3's and R5's so I can combine the two tires for optimal performance,,

And about the driving aids,, It doesn't matter if you have them on at the max speed test,, because it doesn't slow you down,, but I'm not an expert either so don't take my advice too seriously:)

Hope I helped a bit

 mate

308mph on GT-R? what did you do, bolt a rocket on the trunk or something? oh well.. it's almost the same to me how fast you guys go with it.. i was the first one and that's all what matters to me, hehe:sly: and almost none of you couldn't had done it if I hadn't posted my settings here.. and I'm starting to regret it.:guilty: :banghead:

and no, TCS or other "aids" don't help at all when chasing top speed. setting the suspension well and then slowly altering the gearbox settings towards the top speed is the key. and do not forget rear downforce.. just be careful with it though, it might result as a wheelie and then the run isn't legitimate.
