is this true? If so makes the T598 seem even better for the price its going for. I thought the Fanatecs were just at a constant?

Yes, and it's shown in the FANATEC Software depending if you select LINEAR (= Constant Force) or PEAK:

Ordered in January, supposed to be back in stock in early February. Thrustmaster said to someone on Twitter that a few T598 were send to Boulanger but they didn't know if it was already sold items or stock for the seller. Yesterday, the date of availability was updated to mid March.
I wanted to cancel my order yesterday but it was impossible as my order was in process.
I am supposed to be delivered today.
