Someone in the comments saying....

• THRUSTMASTER T598
o Constant Force = 5Nm
o Max OverShoot = 10Nm
o Price = $500€

• FANATEC GT DD PRO 5Nm (without the Boost Kit) :
o Constant Force = 4Nm
o Max Peak Force = 5Nm
o Price = $700€

• FANATEC GT DD PRO 8Nm (with Boost kit)
o Constant Force = 6Nm
o Max Peak Force = 8Nm o
Price = $800€

is this true? If so makes the T598 seem even better for the price its going for. I thought the Fanatecs were just at a constant?
Yes, and it's shown in the FANATEC Software depending if you select LINEAR (= Constant Force) or PEAK:

Ordered in January, supposed to be back in stock in early February. Thrustmaster said to someone on Twitter that a few T598 were send to Boulanger but they didn't know if it was already sold items or stock for the seller. Yesterday, the date of availability was updated to mid March.
I wanted to cancel my order yesterday but it was impossible as my order was in process.
I am supposed to be delivered today.

Just wait until Dumb Donny's tariffs kick in, it'll be $550 at least. (+10% for chinese goods)

That's why I bought at the end of November.

Purchased 30-12-2024, delivered yesterday. Well, attempted delivery, because I wasn't home, but the thing is the re-stock is real.

Ordered mine january 2nd, and got it wednesday.

Installed it on my Gtlite Pro flawlessly, and it works great with GT7.

Firmware updates are a pain though, I had a hard time figuring it out for the 488 gt3 wheel.

Soooo…. My T300rs died. Since I have a lot of thrustmaster ecosystem stuff i want something from them which will work with playstation and pc.
I think the T598 is the perfect upgrade, but I wanted to hear some opinions from owners. Are uou satisfied?

Yeah im pretty sure i read Thrustmaster were heavily in touch with PD/Kunos etc while the wheel was getting produced. Im guessing if it worked great out the box with games they would have no need to do that.

Does today's update show the T598 in game? Any changes/difference in how it feels?
The T598 still isn't recognized in GT7. I've reached out to Thrustmaster via Messenger on FB in hopes that they will share some insights on which/if any developers are working on native support/updates for the T598 on PS5 & PC.

It's been a week for my new T598.

Coming from a G29 (and previously a DFGT), it's a no-brainer upgrade. I have zero complain, the T598 is just great.

So, a little resume of my impressions (2.07 firmware, 1.55 for the wheel). First the pros:
  • feeling is fantastic, and there's absolutely zero "foreign" vibration : everything you feel IS an useful info.
  • Pedals are very good. I'm surprised here, I liked the logitech pedals (I modded the brake), but those are very cool. I'll definitely check the load cell when available
  • the combo with the 488 GT3 wheel works wonders
  • the new QR is really good
  • works great with GT7 : I'm really fast in the last 2 online TTs. I redid all the standard licences in gold in two nights, even S10 was easy.
  • gear volt : it's useless in itself, but it's just immersive and satisfaying. All brands should implement this feature !

The cons:
  • firmware upadtes are atrocious. First you need a PC, which console gamers may not have. I had to get back an old laptop to do it. The software is meh. And the firmware update for the 488 wheel is just stupid (you have to remove the QR, plug in an usb cable, then launch an executable which I had to search for a long time)
  • the included wheel does the job, but it really feel cheap to me (absolutely nowhere near the G29 quality). The paddles are great though.
  • no integration of the wheels in GT7 : not easy to find which button is, and how to navigate the mfd in GT7. It's a process, after a few days, it's ok.
  • gear paddles can be noisy for some
  • minor con : the alim cable is short but like me you can juste replace it with a longer standard one.

My advice for any racer with a G29/G923 wheel : don't second guess if you want it, you won't be disappointed !

Why does a steering wheel need firmware updates? The base i get but the wheels?

I honestly don't know, the default wheel comes with the required firmware (1.25), but the 488 GT3 has to be updated in order to work with the new DD bases (T598 and T818). Same for the new R32 rallye wheel I believe.

But I just don't understand why they couldn't hide somewhere a USB C port in the back or the bottom. Having to unwrench the QR is idiotic.
