I've been trying to come up with a way I can help out here, because I want to, so hear me out.

I'm not very experienced. Not nearly as much as @SAMHAIN85 @Neutty @Herimopp89 @Jw_wk1010 @PApunk924 @TexasJDC and others. I haven't been at this long enough yet. What I do have is a decent pace and technique and I like coming to the sessions to hang out and get some practice in. So I was thinking I could just do that and anyone wanting could spectate my on-board for a better idea of lines, braking points and gear selection. I could even drive their car selection of they want. People learn differently and I'm one of those who learn this game better with some visual aid. Watching these guys race really did help me and continues to.

Just a thought, but I'll be there regardless.

Maybe at Thursday's practice there could be instructor's covering different levels or skills with a number of students, all doing their own thing. This might require different lobbies to avoid hot lappers running into groups doing slow walks around the track to point out stuff. I did that with @Jw_wk1010 to immense success. eg. "I didn't know that sign was there. Or had meaning."

Confirmation form still has NerdFam6. Should be IDreamIn_GT3

Class is filling up nicely for Thursday night. We could use a few more instructors. If you'd like to volunteer some time to help along our new, newer or even established drivers, it would be greatly appreciated!

ARL WANTS YOU!

Calling all drivers…. The ARL drivers’ school is currently and actively seeking instructors to join us on Thursday nights. There has been an expressed interest from our driver pool (and GTPlanet) in general, for us to really kick this program into high gear.

We need your help! If you feel as though your skill level in this driving simulator can help others out, we want you! Some basic criteria:

· An instructor can be from either division, Silver or Bronze.

· An instructor must be willing to devote up to one hour on Thursday evenings (9PM EST) to assist, help, develop and grow other drivers from within and outside of our ARL community.

· An instructor must have a headset/mic, in order to effectively communicate with the student.

· An instructor must be willing to teach one or all of the basics, intermediate and finer points of driving.

That’s about it! We are looking to give back to the driving community and ask that you help us in this endeavor.

How a typical Thursday night may play out:

· A BOD member will open a lobby titled ARL DRIVER SCHOOL.

· As drivers/instructors join the lobby, we encourage the instructor to “buddy up” with a new or newer driver.

· The pair should then break off into a private chat, so as not to be interrupted or distracted by general chatter.

· The instructor either follows, rides in car, or both, as the student drives around the track. This is the point where your instruction, expertise and experience will pay off for the student.

· A series of mini races will be held throughout the course of the evening/driving school period. An instructor may partake in the race or choose to ride “in car” with the student, spotting and coaching as the race progresses.

· An instructor should spend at least 45 minutes with the student.

@BGCaligula here's an idea, run some laps at weather tech and share it on your profile and I will watch it on my account. Or post it here. Observing is probably the best way I learn also? Just an idea? Or whatever track is coming up next on the ARL schedule?

@Nick Cannella With regards to how the format might best suit students like myself: can we focus on one particular track for the evening? I think this benefits some of us newer students who may have limited track knowledge. Spending an hour learning from our teachers on a specific track might help gain some confidence, technique, and track knowledge. As a participant in last weeks school, i felt like i was just starting to gain confidence when we switched to a new track in the lobby and i was lost and felt like i was starting over again. Maybe even mirror the Gr4 season track schedule so that we get real world practice/training on the track we may be driving the following week.

That is a great idea I will get with the guys I screwed up last week running a practice with driving school that won't happen. Again
